Disclaimer: I don't own HP!! I wish I did, but I don't. But I DO own Diantha and if you steal her I will hunt you down! Seriously! Diantha's all mine.

Diantha Fay was the most beautiful girl at Hogwarts. Everyone knew it. From the day she had transferred there from America, the boys had all been interested in her. Diantha hated it. Even now, as she exited Potions, her favourite class, she could feel their eyes on her. With an exasperated sigh she pulled her Slytherin scarf more tightly around her throat and pulled her long, perfectly curled red hair into a ponytail. She barely even noticed that Harry was watching her, and when she did finally spot him she growled and spat, "What are you looking at, Potter?"

Harry shook his head frantically. "N-n-nothing!" He disappeared around a corner and Diantha grinned to herself. Draco- who had seen the whole thing- wandered over and stood beside her, arms crossed. "Suppose he's run off to find his friends?"

Diantha shrugged and inspected her nails carelessly with her Mediterranean-blue eyes. "Suppose I care?"

Draco laughed, quietly, and it echoed off the cold stone walls of the castle. He grabbed her arm suddenly as if remembering something. "I forgot: my father invited you out to Malfoy Manor again this weekend. You coming?"

Diantha smiled. "Of course. We must celebrate out birthday." They both grinned. Draco and Diantha were born on not only the same day, but at the same hour. At this point neither of them had any idea that they also shared their birthday with Ginny Weasley, Cho Chang and Hannah Abbot....

Draco sneezed. It was winter now and the snow outside seemed the surround them all. Diantha stared out the window defiantly at it. "Bloody snow," she murmured.

Draco cocked an eyebrow as they walked back toward the Slytherin common room. "You don't like it?" he asked.

There was a shrug from Diantha that could have meant anything. "Didn't used to bother me either way but now…"

"That you're an Anima-"

"Shh!" she said and looked around quickly to check no one had heard him. Luckily there was no-one in the hall. She looked back at the tall boy and smacked him on the arm. "You idiot! You don't just blurt that out!"

Draco had the good grace to look embarrassed. "Sorry," he said and then met her eye with a slight smile. "I guess it's been a while since you…transformed?" that last word was spoken as a whisper.

Diantha nodded and sighed wistfully. "Yeah." It had been at least two weeks, which was a lot for her to just be cooped up in here. Diantha had been an Animagus for almost a year- an incredible feet for a seventeen year old girl- and she loved it. Her animal form was a silver wolf with beautiful golden eyes. The most beautiful wolf you had ever seen, in fact. She just wanted to change right now and run out across the snow. When she pulled herself from her thoughts Draco was looking at her. And he had that look. That look that made him look soft and vulnerable and almost like a little boy. Diantha broke her gaze. "I know what you're thinking," she said, not looking at him. "You're thinking I'm beautiful." There was a slight jolt of surprise from Draco and then he grinned at her. "Actually, yeah."

Diantha looked at him, her eyes bright. "It's the wolf. It's the wolf you love in me. It makes me beautiful. And it makes me fierce too, so don't even bother." She looked away again when she saw the hurt look in his eyes and turned to walk away. She heard him say her name- softly, plaintively- but she didn't turn around. She'd loved Draco since she'd arrived in England two years ago. If he touched her now, she'd crumble to his will. And she couldn't do that, because she was Diantha Fay, Bitch of Hogwarts.

So she just walked away.
