Lay the Smack Down on Halloween
Midnite Flame, dressed as a pirate, walked merrily down the road as she began her trick or treating trip. Looking at her watch, she saw it change from 8:59 to 9:00, a perfect time to begin. Clutching her small brown purse she readied herself for a night full of excitement, scares, and best of all, candy.
She skipped the street she lived on and turned to the next one. Entering the road, Midnite stopped suddenly. The houses here were completely dark, making pitch black everything ahead of the young teen. Regardless of the dark, she decided to venture down the cheerless row of dark houses in search of Halloween spirit.
Then, she saw it: a single small pumpkin, lit by a dim candle. Carved out of the bright orange pumpkin was a picture of a heart, broken in two. As she stood gazing in awe at this sight, she noticed the dark figure crouched on the stairs.
"What an interesting decoration," she thought aloud. When the figure did not move as she poked it, Midnite took it for just that; a scary Halloween decoration. "Might as well see if I can get a treat." The girl began to ascend the stairs slowly, keeping her eyes glued on the dark object, when all of a sudden; a black-cloaked arm shot towards her and an icy hand gripped her ankle. As her face met the stairs, a small squeal of terror escaped her lips. Turing around, she saw to her horror that the crouching shape was no longer crouching, but moving slowly towards her.
"Leave now, and never come back," a voice coming from the thing said. Suddenly, Midnite realized to her relief, surprise, and joy that the voice belonged to someone she knew.
"Brian Kendrick?" The figure started at the name.
"Darn, you know who I am?"
"Yes. Your Spanky, and my favorite wrestler." Midnite felt more at ease now, but still she shook.
"Seriously?" He came closer to her and took off his hood.
"Yeah."
"That's cool." Seeing the fear still in her eyes. Brian sheepishly apologized for scaring her so. "It was just a bit of fun. But, I guess I went too far." Midnite agreed, and laughed. "What are you doing out so late, anyways?"
"What do you mean, late?" The girl asked. "It's only just after 9."
"Are you kidding? It's past ten-thirty. Your watch is off."
"Oh." Midnite blushed.
"Since you are so late in coming, I have no more candy for you."
"Darn. What a complete waste of a Halloween."
"It doesn't have to be a complete waste. You could come inside and have some hot chocolate with me. We can watch what's left of Raw." Smiling, Midnite Flame agreed. "Good. I've been so lonely lately."
As she followed Brian Kendrick into his house the girl looked back at the jack-o-lantern. The heart carved on it was no longer broken, but full. She took it as fate as she followed the young superstar inside.
