I remember that day as if it was last.
I woke up to the sounds of screams in the distance the terrible sound of crying and frightened men and women. I clutched at anything that was in reach. I clutched at the one foundation in this endless war. I clutched at Draco. I stared at his magnificent grey eyes which were currently covered by his eyelids. I gazed at his short blonde hair, not gelled anymore. I ran my hands along his side. I remembered everything about this man. I cuddled into his arms, and they reflexively wrapped around me. Draco opened an eye and held me close.
"Hermione, dear, what's wrong?"
"The fighting will never end, will it?"
I asked silently. He leaned his head down and kissed me tenderly on the forehead, not saying a word. I sat up and brushed his hair out of his face and looked tenderly at him. I stood up, shakily, and put my day clothes on. I reached around the magical tent, and found my wand. I looked at Draco and told him to go back to sleep, he would need it. I looked outside and saw figures and bolts of lightning in the not-to-distant distance. I wished my love one goodbye and it sounded like a goodbye to my own ears. It didn't seem to have that same effect on him, as he fell back to sleep promptly.
I twirled my wand once in my hands and quickly made a mental check of all the curses and spells she knew. Isucked in my breath and glanced back at Draco, muttering a spell to wake him up in 15 minutes. I dashed out of the tent.
I thought silently of every horrible thing that was happening. Every thing that I was fighting for that wasn't making any difference. Voldemorts armies grew stronger each day, and Harry couldn't hold Voldemort off for long. I looked up to the heavens, I remembered each happy moment of my life, knowing it could very well be over in a few minutes. I saw my mother and father, my little sister(Geraldine) My first kiss, my first...everything good. I felt a tear drop as I repeated something known to me since I was born
Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
