Locked, Chapter seven

"I don't play that, man." I have no idea what that means, but it obviously had something to do with not getting the hell out of there. Kenny ran towards the diner and turned into his red form.

"Oh you bloody fucking dumbass." I said and ran after him. I got to where the door used to be and was almost run over by several frightened customers.

"Don't go in there! There're mutants!" One woman warned.

"Oh don't worry about it, I'm one too." She screamed and ran past me. Humans. There were no signs of Kenny, or the other mutant. Beside the fact that Damien had blown a trucker through the door, there was very little damage, surprising considering Kenny had just gone through there.

"Kenny! Forget it, let's go!" I heard a crash from somewhere in the back, followed shortly by what sounded like a gunshot. "Oh, if he isn't dead already, I'm gonna kill him." I walked past the booths, being careful not to make to much noise. I'm not what you'd call stealthy, in fact I prefer to just rush in, gun's blazing, but I was trying to not get myself killed.

"John." I nearly jumped out of my skin.

"Damien, get out of here!" His eyes were all black again. I don't think he could see because he was holding his hands out and feeling his way towards me.

"There's another mutant in there."

"I know." He stopped right in front of me. He was starting to make me nervous.

"Kenny can handle him." He sounded confident that Kenny could do anything.

"Damien, I hate to break it to you, but Kenny is an idiot." His eyes faded back to normal and he glared at me.

"You don't know him." He nearly whispered. Then that black aura came back. "You don't know anything." He held his hand up.

"Johnny, you alive, man?" I felt someone poking me. It hurt more than it should have.

"Ah, cut it out!" I tried to lift my hand to slap him away, but I found I barely move. "What's going on? I can't move."

"That'll go away. Man he must have been pretty pissed at you. I thought you really were dead." I didn't answer. I decided to just lay there until I could move. Then I would strangle Kenny.

Finally, when I could move, I sat up. "What happened?" I snapped. Kenny took his own sweet time answering; looking around the room we were in as if there would be something in there that would be able to help him explain it.

"Eh.. well, y'know. Shit happens." He shrugged then looked behind me. I twisted around and saw Damien sitting there. He was looking towards me, but his eyes were out of focus and as I watched him he shuddered, and began mumbling to himself. I can't say I felt any sympathy for him, if he really had nearly killed me.

"Kenny, if you don't tell me what that kid did to me, I'm going to wrap my hands around your neck and-"

"A'right, a'right! Geez, man, breathe. Okay, Damien, um, I don't know. I mean, I didn't know he could do that. That sucky thing, he kinda drained you, but it made him real tired too, so I don't think it gave him some power up or somthin'. Hell, I didn't even know he was a mutant. Creepy thing with his eyes, I knew somethin' was goin' on with that because he always knew when someone was coming. Freaky." I stared blankly at him, because I had barely understood a word he'd just said. Though he seemed to be disturbed as a psycho like him could get, so I decided to just leave it there.

"Who was the other mutant?" I asked. I had a feeling he was about to make some smart-ass comment, like 'Oh, John, you're the only mutant for me,' but he just shrugged.

"Dunno. After we heard you screaming like a girl we both ran out from the kitchen. He tried to blow me up y' know," as if that were relevant, "then he all started laughing, right, when he saw that a little kid kicked your ass. I thought it was funny too, but then he almost passed out," he said nodding at Damien, "so we decided to jet. Mr. Freaky Accent went off somewhere, bout an hour ago. Don't know where he went, though."

"Mr. What?"

"He had this weird-ass accent. Talked lahke dis, mon ami. Really annoyed da crap oudda me."

Of course I knew who it was. Remy. Why was Remy out looking for me? Surely not out of the goodness of his heart. And since on the several occasions he'd tried to blow me up I'd been able to decipher I wasn't his favorite person in the world, there was no reason he should be out looking for me.

"What? What? What're you doin'?" Kenny asked, as I went for the door. "Hey!" The door shimmered for a second, and then the cracks between it and the frame melted together.

"Put it back!" I shouted.

"Dude, the entire state police force'll be out looking for our asses! You wanna get caught?"

"The army's out too." Damien said quietly.

"How do you know?" Kenny said.

"I saw an army van out through the window. Bunch of guys in camouflage riding around in jeeps and stuff." I didn't consider this too big a problem. I'd had army officials after me once, and I'd gotten away. Kenny, on the other hand, actually began to panic.

"The army?" He squeaked. "The army. Man, we can't play against that. The army, man, they're like super police!" Kenny apparently didn't like police. He began ranting about 'stupid donut scoffing pigs' and the like. A knock on the door made scared him into his red form and he sank into the rug. A moment later, the door, seemingly of its own volition, swung open.

"Ah, mon ami, you're alive." He sounded almost disappointed.

"Well I just couldn't bear leaving you behind." I managed to say without trying to punch him in the face. I was really annoyed, and, well, by now you should know how I get when I'm annoyed. The walls seemed to shudder with relief, making Remy jump, then Kenny solidified in the middle of the room.

"Hey yo." He said jovially, as if Remy were his best friend. Then he shrugged, an action I began to think was some kind of tick. "What's good witchou?" Remy ignored him, instead turning back to talk to me.

"Mags said you got your ass in some trouble, an' den he sends Gambit off to save you. Why, I asked myself, is John such an idiot? He goes an' tries to burn down da mall, giving mutants a worse reputation den dey already had, an' den our friend Kelly, decides to push mutant registration even harder den before. An' you know what?" I realized he actually wanted me to answer.

"Uh.. they passed it?" I guessed, fear clawing at my insides.

"No, not yet, but Mags figures if he can find you an' turn you in, maybe there'll be some relief on mutants who aren't complete idiots." My head swam. Magneto already had gotten me into a load of shit by letting me get captured by those mutant haters. Now he was acting like he hadn't even done anything to me yet, and was going to let the American government have a go at me. I felt like I could have exploded I was so pissed off.

"John, you better chill before your brain explodes and oozes out your ears. Though that would be cool lookin'." I think he was actually trying to get at Remy, but his words only made me feel worse. I started yelling at Remy like it was his fault, though I didn't really care at the moment. I'm not even sure what I said, though I think he got the gist of it.

"I knew Mags was a crazy son-of-a-bitch. I didn't t'ink he'd go dat far." Damien got up and crossed the room. He stood in front of the door, looking at it critically, as if doubting its doorly abilities.

"There's someone out there." He said, as if he were annoyed with something for not conveying that information to him. He reached out to open the door before any of us could stop him.

"Oh, hello. Um.. little boy, have you seen any body strange around?" Damien just stared at him. "A blonde kid and another kid with reddish hair." He kept on staring. None of us could see the person talking, but he didn't sound comfortable interrogating some kid. "They were kind of grubby looking..?"

"Lo siento, senor, no hablo inglés. Mi madre está dormida." Kenny slapped his hands over his mouth to keep himself from laughing.

"Um, right. Sorry for bothering you." Damien closed the door, and then turned back to us.

"Friggin loser." He mumbled. Kenny lost it and began to cackle madly.

Whew! That took me two whole weeks to type! All of four pages, haha! No, we've just been loaded down with homework from our ebil teachers, intent on annoying the crap out of us. But now it's Spring Break and we have a whole week to be lazy before we all have to rush to do our home work on Sunday night. Boy, are we lazy! Back to you Raven! Huzzah!

Um, right. If you haven't taken at least one week of Spanish then you probably don't know what Damien said. He said, "Sorry sir, I don't speak English. My mother is asleep." And that is the extent of my bilingualness. This was short too, though I'm proud to say I got up to four pages, not counting the Cap'n being stupid, and this stuff here.

Karakin- Thanks for reviewing. Hmm, well Remy is in this chapter. Not what I expected to do, but so is life, my friend.

angyl-devyl- My computer keeps trying to capitalize angyl. Bad Microsoft! Anyhoo, I noticed that too. If I saw a couple of kids standing on the side of the road covered in blood, theirs or otherwise, I would drive faster, not pick them up. Fantabulous!
