OH4H: a sad little h/m song-fic. It's not going to be continued this is just a one shot deal

Disclaimer: I don't own MASH or the song Whiskey Lullaby

She left him. She loved him, she didn't want to leave him, but fear controls us more than we realize. She never married, she lived by herself. A lonely unhappy existence. No one ever heard from her again after she left him. Those who remember the woman she was think she lost her soul when she lost him. Those who never knew say she was insane. She always considered her a bit of both.

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette

She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget

He didn't know why she left him. After she left him he lost interest in life. His dad was gone, she was gone, he hadn't spoke to anyone from the 4077th for years. He tried to forget her; he used the same tools he used in Korea. But nothing worked, everyone considered him lost. He considered himself dead.

We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time

But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind

Until the night

He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger

And finally drank away her memory

Life is short but this time it was bigger

Than the strength he had to get up off his knees

We found him with his face down in the pillow

With a note that said I'll love her till I die

And when we buried him beneath the willow

The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

La la la la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la la la

He was really and truly gone. She thought he would forget her and live a new life, a better one without her. But he was dead. Everyone thought she didn't care, but no one knew the whole story. She cried herself to sleep and drank to forget. She quit leaving her home all together.

The rumors flew but nobody know how much she blamed herself

For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath

Finally she snapped. There was nothing left for her. And without him, she never had a reason to be in the first place. She was amazed she lasted this long.

She finally drank her pain away a little at a time

But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind

Until the night

She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger

And finally drank away his memory

Life is short but this time it was bigger

Than the strength she had to get up off her knees

We found her with her face down in the pillow

Clinging to his picture for dear life

We laid her next to him beneath the willow

While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

La la la la la la la La la la la la la la La la la la la la la
