Chapter 1

While the fire was blazing I sat back in my chair gazing into the red and orange flames. It was a little after midnight and the clock tower which was some hundreds of yards away was chiming as it does every hour.

The ringing was almost music to my ears. I tilted up just a little so that I maybe could hear their seet music a little clearer. As the last toll of the bell began to ring I heard the front door of my cottage begin to open. I did not turn to look at whomever was coming threw the door because I knew to whom exactly it was.

My friend, my lustuous immortal friend, Jack, had come for a visit. I had asked him if her would come for a visit so that I might bid hima farewell before he made his journey. I stood up and turned around and their stood my Jack, tall, dark. Let me describe further of Jack.

Jack was a regular man's height about 6'1" which I'm sure in his day he stood above the rest. His body was slender but rather disoriented. He must have been in a fight before her crossed over. Jack had albino eyes which changed color depending upon the season of the year. In spring and falll, Jack's eyes were pink, the color of his lips and in winter and summer they were white as snow. Jack's hair to say the least was ultimately dazeling.

It was as gold as the midday sun and was midway down his back. Jack was not stuck in a time frame like his other friends. Jack dressed according to the new era of styling. Today he wore his common jeans and a loose t- shirt. However, Jack wan't alone today. He was accompanied by a person I failed to recognize.

It was a woman of half Jack's size. I knew for sure she was one of Jack's kind, a vampire, for her face was pale and lips the color of a red rose after blooming. As she approached me I could see her eyes. I really couldn't tell what color they were because the light from the fire reflected off them. As Jack approached me I could see the grin on his face.

"He must have something to be proud of" I though to myself.

"How have you been these past nights old friend?" Jack said

" I can't get our last discussion out of my mind."

"It will leave soon enough"

"Let me introduce you to my newest companion, Christine Belforth," Jack said, " Christine this is my dearest mortal friend, Lily.

After Jack had said this Christine whispered something in his ear and she turned to leave. Jack came over to give me his usual hug which was his welcome but tonight unlike any other. Jack had waited to long and was not about to wait any longer.

When we wrapped in each others arns I felt a sharp pain right below my chin. I knew what was happening. I had anticipated it for quite some time now. Maybe Jack read my thoughts as he has other mortals. I shall never know but now more than 200 years later I always like to look back on that night.

Now relax as I tell my tale so that maybe you'll have something to remember
