This is my first fan fiction story posted here, so I'm sorry if it's not that great. But I had an idea and I decided to run with it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Van Helsing… ::sigh:: I wish I did though…
"Concentrate Caroline. Feel the power flow through out your body. Find the core and command it to do your bidding." I crushed my eyelids together even harder, hoping that would help my concentration. If I could just find that blue core… "Caroline, do you see the power within you?" No. Madame Leona, I cannot see that blasted white…wait a minute. I can see it. It's right there. Almost within my grasp. I reached out. It's right there…suddenly, I was facing the ground, panting. I blinked, trying to sort my thoughts out. I heard Madame Leona sigh. "Caroline, you must learn to clear your mind better. You haven't made any progress since your arrival here." I stood slowly, my legs aching from sitting on the floor for so long.
"I have too made progress." I grumbled under my breath. Madame Leona ignored me, as she often does.
"Caroline, if you do not learn how to control your power, it can be used against you and against the people that you care about." I didn't bother to point out that I had no one in my life that I did care about. Ever since I had arrived in Paris, I had spent all of my time inside this stupid old house. Studying. That's all I ever did. "You haven't even seen the core yet…"
"Excuse me, Madame Leona, but I have seen the core." Madame Leona whipped around.
"You did?" I nodded. She grinned, clapping her hands together. "Oh my dear, this is wonderful! Today, the core. Tomorrow, everlasting control. You are finished for today. Go have some fun. I must tell Monsieur Alistair about your improvement." And that is how Madame Leona left the room, muttering happily to herself. I didn't understand how she could get so happy over such a little thing. But, Madame Leona was an odd woman. I stretched, willing my limbs to shake the cobwebs from their muscles and start working properly. Slowly, I could feel all of my limbs again. Now, about that fun. I looked at the clock on the wall. It was only 2 in the afternoon. I had plenty of time. Smiling to myself, I headed out to the street to amuse myself.
"She saw the core, did she?" Alistair Cobbs said quietly, his voice raspy and old. Madame Leona nodded enthusiastically, wringing her hands together in her excitement.
"Yes sir! And she appears to be progressing at a rather fast pace."
"You haven't told her this, have you?" Alistair asked.
"Of course not sir! I keep on telling her that she is very far behind." Alistair nodded.
"Good. The last thing we need is for that girl to realize just how powerful she is. If she were to discover that she controls the Elements…" Alistair trailed off. Madame Leona shook her head, her eyes with the horror of the very idea.
"She must never find out. She could destroy us all!"
"Which is exactly why we have to keep her from discovering the truth. Where is the girl now?"
"Her room, I imagine. I told her that she could have some fun." Alistair's eyes widened in anger.
"You what?!" He exclaimed, standing and slamming his fists onto his desk. Madame Leona shrunk back in fear. "That girl has a will, Leona, she will go wherever her heart takes her. I've been keeping her locked up in this house for a reason. Send someone to find her. Now!" Madame Leona ran from the room, cowering in fear. Alistair sunk back into his chair and began to rub his temples. "It is so hard to find good help these days."
So there's my first chapter. If it seems kinda rushed, sorry. But I just really wanted to get some of the basics down. You know? Please review. And no flames. Constructive criticism would be great.
