Thief
"Thief."
Minerva McGonagall turned around from the books she was putting away and glared at the placidly smiling wizard standing just inside the threshold of her office.
"I beg your pardon?"
"You heard me."
She glowered at the current Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. It was partway through the year and since being appointed Head of Gryffindor last week, Minerva was busy relocating from her current Transfiguration Professor's office to the larger Head of House's office in Gryffindor Tower.
Her office was in disarray; many boxes were stacked around her, some were half filled with arcane Transfiguration tomes and journals and textbooks, others holding her resources and equipment and there were plenty more to be packed away. A compound and intricate field of study, Transfiguration is a principal cornerstone in ancient and modern Magic. It was also a dangerous magic to be remiss in and required several years of learning and understanding to become a master wizard or witch in it. Minerva prided herself in being proficient in Transfigurations (it was her favourite subject in her schooling days and not just because she fancied her teacher!) as well as being an accomplished if strict instructor; she expected nothing but the best from her students.
Thus Minerva was annoyed at being inconvenienced at such a time by anyone and doubly infuriated in the entirely unprovoked manner her employer and good friend had called her a 'thief'. But Albus continued on, not letting her have her say.
"You have something of mine and I shall be candid to say that you have stolen it from me. You have done it perchance unwittingly -or not- but it was stolen none the less."
Minerva was not in the mood for his games and her temper exploded.
"Well then, take back whatever the damn thing is that I have taken from you and accept my sincere apologies for unknowingly making off with it! Really Albus, must you make a production of this? I am rather busy!" She gave a sweeping motion with her hand.
He smiled gently and walked towards her, stopping only when they were inches apart. To add to her discomfort Albus leaned in so close that his crooked nose almost touched her own.
"You have my sincere apology for interrupting you, but I never said I wanted it back Minerva."
Her curiosity got the better of her. Temper fading away, she asked, "Just what exactly have I stolen from you Albus?"
Minerva was very surprised to see Albus Dumbledore suddenly look uncertain and unable to meet her eyes. She was even more surprised when he silently reached down for one of her hands, brought it to his lips for a chaste kiss before placing it on his chest, right over his heart and covering it with both of his hands. Tentative but warm blue eyes looked into astonished grey ones.
Carefully, she removed her hand from his grasp and before a hurt look graced his face, Minerva folded her arms and, her heart hammering like mad, she said, "The last time I checked Headmaster, fair exchange was not robbery."
Those bright blue eyes blinked in confusion, then again in surprise. Then a slow smile parted his auburn beard. Before either knew what they were doing, they had moved towards the other at the same time, their lips leading them forward.
After a moment of heaven, Minerva pulled back from their kiss rather suddenly and Albus gave a soft groan of protest at the loss of contact.
"I have work to do." She explained impishly, enjoying the sight of his bemused and slightly disgruntled expression. Not taking his eyes off hers, Albus gave a lazy wave of his hand and the chaos that was her office righted itself at once. The boxes were even Levitating, ready to be transported.
"No you don't my dear," he corrected her complacently, capturing her lips again while the door behind him closed magically.
