The clock's hour hand reached 12:00 AM and Brock, her husband, was still not back yet. Barbara Jean suspected that her husband was seeing another woman; he came home with a different lady's perfume smell on him, and even came home with a different woman's underwear on. In the past, when Barbara Jean confronted her husband about this he claimed that it was dark and he took some of his wife's underwear by mistake. She knew that was wrong because she didn't buy the specific kind that her husband came home with.

The clock now said 12:10 AM. Barbara Jean was distraught at the thought that her husband was seeing someone else. She thought of all the wonderful times they had together. On the night after their wedding, he kissed her a sweet, soft passionate kiss. She felt such a warmth and loving feeling inside and she wondered if this feeling would last a lifetime. Her entire body shivered as the cool breeze in the room slowly brought her back to that evening....

It was the night after Brock and Barbara Jean had been married. He pressed his lips against hers as they made their way over to the couch. They stopped their kissing; he sat down first with his feet on one end and his head on the other. She sat down by him smiling sweetly. He reached up and tucked her hair behind her ear and asked, "Whatcha thinkin'?"

"Nothin' – A moment with the one I love leaves no room for thought."

She laid down on her belly on the edge of the couch. He ran his hand down her spine and lifted his other arm to touch her hair that felt like silk under his fingers. Barbara Jean painted a mischievous grin across her face, got up gracefully, and slowly waltzed him over towards the bed.

Those where the good times; before all the sneaking around. The man that she loved so passionately had the demeanor of one who was betraying her! She sobbed as she remembered that his, "goodbye, I'll see you later tonight" was not terribly painful at the time, but with each minute it seemed to echo a little louder each passing hour in her memory. She walked into their room, slammed her head into Brock's pillow; breathed in the scent of him and cried herself to sleep.
