Disclaimer: I don't own anything to do with er, I mearly write fanfiction. It's just a little fic I wrote on the supre of the moment. It's nameless just now, but I think it's obvious at the end who it's about. I could turn it into a series if people want, so you know what you have to do.

I Told You So

He sat on the plane, nervously sipping his water. The pilot had just ordered the cabin crew to take their seats. It was happening, he was coming back. He had honestly never thought this day would come, he thought he would die out there.

She sighed; it had been such a long day. Twelve traumas. In one day. But she was happy, she was finally doing something she wanted. It wasn't research or surgery. It was what she wanted. Emergency Medicine.

He picked his bag up of the sidewalk and hailed a taxi. Should he go back to his apartment? Or should he head back to County, to her? After a few minutes internal debate he decided that he needed to see her. It had been too long.

It was over, and that cup of coffee was looking really appetizing. Settling back on the couch with coffee in hand she began to drink the scalding liquid. Which tasted of nothing, but it was a good taste. It reminded her of happy times.

He glanced up at the basketball hoop and smiled. It reminded him of happy times. Walking through the familiar doors and up to that small screen of glass. Greetings were said, small talk exchanged. People inquired after. "In the lounge" he was told. He swung open the door, holding his breath.

She was sleeping, dreaming of oddly enough of butterflies. She heard a faint noise; some one was calling her name. Opening her eyes she looked over at the door and stared at the figure standing in front of her. It was him, he was back. She stood up and threw her arms around his neck and pulled him into a tight hug.

She opened her eyes, looked at him and stared. A small smiled spread over her lips and she jumped up and hugged him. He dropped his bag on the floor and wrapped his arms around her. "I missed you," she whispered softly in his ear.

He pulled away and looked into her eyes and said, "I told you so."

She giggled and kissed him, like she had wanted too all these months. All her pain at him leaving was poured into that kiss. But as is the way of things at County, they were interrupted. A trauma, number thirteen her new lucky number. "Wait here," she said. "I'll be back."

He smiled. She was a doctor. In the er. Like she had promised him she would be.

She'd done it for him, hoping that one day she would see the proud look in his eyes, knowing that she had done it. Become a doctor. Achieved her dream.

"I told you so." She murmured.
