The scene opens on Wesley, sitting at Angel's desk, in Angel's office, writing in a journal. He looks in deep contemplation, and above the scratches of his pen on the pages of the journal, we can hear his thoughts as if he were speaking them aloud.
Wesley: The Circle of the Black Thorn is dead.
We see a blinding flash of light, the symbol of the Black Thorn superimposed over it. The symbol breaks up and the pieces turn into smoke and waft away.
Wesley: So is most of our staff.
We see a staff picture of Angel Investigations. From left to right: Lorne, his hands in his pockets, smiling; Fred, leaning into Gunn, his arm draped around her shoulders in a gentle half-hug; Wesley, broody as ever, looking less than happy at getting his picture taken; and Cordelia and Angel, mirroring Fred and Gunn. The background changes to that of the Wolfram and Hart offices, Cordelia disappearing, Angel straightening up, Spike appearing in Cordelia's place. Gunn straightens up and Fred becomes Illyria.
Wesley: Illyria and I are the only survivors.
The rest of the staff in the picture disappears. Illyria moves closer to Wesley, until she is standing to his immediate right.
Wesley: The Senior Partners are understandably…pissed.
Flashes of violent, chaotic scenes appear on the screen for the blink of an eye.
Wesley: Then again, so are we.
Illyria smashes through a wall, a look of unadulterated rage on her beautiful, and exotic face.
Wesley snarls and fires a silver gun at something behind us.
Wesley: We'll need a new staff…
Figures begin to appear on the staff picture, blurry and unable to be clearly seen.
Wesley: …A legend long thought dead…
A handsome, black haired man walks down the nighttime LA street. He stops, looks both ways, and then the man formerly known as Springheel Jack leaps up onto a roof.
Wesley: …A creature long thought destroyed…
A homeless man in a long, dark coat and long brimmed hat heads towards the end of an alley, a mechanical hissing coming from seemingly nowhere. He gets to the end of the alleyway and shrugs off his coat and hat. Frankenstein's Monster proceeds to punch through the wall and charge through, shouting a battle cry.
Wesley: …The descendant of a famous vampire hunter…
A young, sinewy woman with black hair and a body that would drive any man wild creeps along a fire escape, trailing a handsome man with a young girl. He turns and looks to the girl he's with…and his face shifts, becoming a ridged, demonic visage, complete with fangs. He rears back, preparing to bite into her throat, and the black haired woman lifts a crossbow swiftly and fires, dusting the vampire. Christine Van Helsing turns and makes her way back along the fire escape.
Wesley: …And someone who bears a piece of our fallen leader…
Connor, Angel's son, walks into the elevator at Wolfram and Hart, pressing the button to go up.
Wesley: Together, we will fight –
Flashes of the new staff, alongside Wesley and Illyria, fighting various creatures in various locales.
Wesley: – or fall.
Wesley slams his journal closed and leaves, the camera focusing on the picture, floating softly down towards the ground, the new staff lined up next to Illyria and Wesley. The picture comes to a rest as the screen slowly fades, and then words form out of the blackness.
Wolfram and Hart: New Beginnings
