Tell me the truth
By: Its-me89
Hermione was running down the corridor. Tears were streaming silently down her cheeks. She and Ron had been in a fight. Again. But this time it had been somewhat different. This time it had been a lot worse and painful for them both. This time he had called her a mudblood.
She knew that she hadn't been a lot better than Ron. She, too, had called him a lot of things, which she hadn't meant. All the words just seemed to fly out of her mouth when she was angry.
Flashback
Harry and Ginny sighed and shock their heads. Ron and Hermione had been shouting at each other for an hour now and it didn't seem like they were going to stop any time soon.
".. It's not like I want you to come with me, Ronald" Hermione said, making sure he heard her calling him by his full name.
"It's not like I want to come with you, mudblood!" Ron shouted back at her.
Hermione froze in the middle of a sentence she was about to shout back at him.
Harry and Ginny turned around from the wizard chess they were playing and stared at Ron in shock. 'He did not just call her that' Harry thought.
Ron too froze in shock. He couldn't believe he had just said that. Slowly tears formed in Hermione's eyes. She turned and ran out of the corridor.
"HERMIONE!" Ron called after her but she was gone. He quickly ran out of the common room, after her.
"Should we go after them?" Ginny asked Harry in concern.
"No, it is time for them to solve out their own problems. They wouldn't listen to us anyways," Harry sighed.
End of flashback
"HERMIONE!"
Hermione heard someone yell after her. She knew it was Ron. She ran harder, eager to get away from him. He had caused her too much pain already.
She stopped up after a while to listen if he was anywhere near. She couldn't hear anything. She turned and looked behind her. No one had followed her.
"I'm sorry Hermione," came a quiet voice behind her.
She quickly turned around again and saw Ron. His eyes were staring right into hers.
She didn't say anything. She was thinking about running away but then she saw something in his eyes which made her stop dead in her tracks.
She saw guilt and truth.
"I never meant to let it go that far. And you of all people should know that I wouldn't hurt you Hermione," Ron continued in a low voice, yet it seemed confident, at least as confident as Ron Weasley could make it in this kind of situation. "You are my friend."
This hurt. Hermione looked down. The words kept replaying in her mind. You are my best friend. Hermione found that this was not what she wanted. She wanted. More.
"Is this what you think about me?" she asked. Ron just looked at her in confusion, "A friend? Tell me the truth Ron"
Ron looked away from her.
"It is time," he whispered to himself and then louder so Hermione could hear it properly, "no, it isn't. God Hermione, you should be able to tell by now. I love you, all right. I have since, Merlin knows how long!"
New tears formed in Hermione's eyes.
"It's alright," he continued in a lower voice, "I understand. You don't feel the same way."
"Oh Ron," she said hugging him tighter than ever, "Of course I do. I love you too!"
Ron hugged her back, smiling to himself.
He lowered his mouth to her ears and whispered, "So how was the truth."
Hermione smiled and pulled away from him just enough to see his grinning mouth and his blue eyes.
"Just the way I wanted it," She answered and leaned to place her lips on his.
FINISH
A/N: Done. So what did you think? Kinda short I know.
