Dying For You

Kagome saw it, but she didn't believe it, flat out refused to believe it. How could this be
happening? Inuyasha was supposed to be there for her but he wasn't. He would never be there
for her again. She closed her eyes as tears ran down her face, mixing with blood from her
wounds. Inuyasha had been unable to protect her from danger. He had promised he wouldn't let
anything happen to her but look where she was now... lying in the feudal era, injured and dying
on the dirt beneath her. She didn't want it to be this way, it wasn't fair. She would lose the man
she loved forever. She opened her eyes allowing more tears to escape her eyes before she closed
them and her breathing staggered. Inuyasha watched as her soul left her body only to find it's
way to Kikyo. She could use it more than Kagome could now fore Kagome no longer had a
functioning body to use. Inuyasha, for the first time since he had been deceived by Kikyo, he
allowed himself to cry. He had lost the woman he loved because of his arrogance. Now he could
never tell her how he felt. How he longed to embrace her whenever she was around. He reach for
her body, grasped her small hands in his, nuzzling them against his face. They felt so cold, like
ice. He pulled her towards him in an embrace. As he held her, he felt her grow warmer. He
stared at her as color slowly returned to her face, but he assumed it was just an after affect of
death. But soon he saw a soul coming toward them, Kikyo chasing, supporting herself on a stick.
Suddenly the portion of Kagome's soul that had remained inside of Kikyo was sucked from
within her. She collapsed onto the ground but Inuyasha found he didn't care much. She had been laid to rest at last and all he cared about at the moment was that there was a soul heading straight
toward Kagome's body. It flew through the air and into her body. When it struck her body flew
into the air and a blue light engulfed her. Her wounds began to heal as the light spread over them
and her eyes flew open as she gasped for air. She was alive, somehow, she was alive. Maybe it
was her will to be with Inuyasha that had called her soul back to her even after death. All they
both knew, they were happy. Inuyasha would never let anything happen to her again. She would
not be left alone and she would not be left in the dark about how Inuyasha felt about her.
Kagome was thinking the same thing about how she felt about Inuyasha. She wouldn't run away
anymore. He had a right to know. When her body came back down, Inuyasha wrapped his arms
around her and, looking into each others' eyes, they shared their first kiss. Guess that answers
the question about whether he's worth dying for.
