New chapter, once again back to the boys. Can they get themselves in any more trouble? I think not...what? Don't believe me? Come on, they aren't that evil, are they? Are they?

Chapter 9: Of strange swords and Saiya-jin tails

Goten opened his eyes as the sunrise awoke him and he yawned aloud, still tired since he had actually slept little. He refused to get up yet and instead shifted his body towards the other side of the sleeping bag and grouped the area for his personal warm blanket and big brother. His hands brushed the fabric of the sleeping bad and then past the bag to the familiar feel of Trunks' Gi, but Trunks wasn't in it. A moment of panic kicked Goten into full awareness as the remaining fatigue disappeared instantly and he sat up to look for Trunks. His sensitive hearing registered a faint splash in the distance; it must be Trunks in the river nearby. Deciding that a swim might be refreshing at that time of the day he proceeded to the area of the splashing sound, careful to keep noise down as he walked slowly toward Trunks.

Trunks surfaced and shook the water out of his hair laughing as he pulled another fish out of the water and swam to the shore. He placed the fish in the large pile by the tree and then padded off to the edge of the water, not noticing Goten behind him. The younger chibi held his breath as Trunks looked at his reflection in the water, unsure if he knew of his presence. He kept his Ki down and snuck closer to Trunks, slowly, very slowly. Trunks shifted on his feet and seemed to be following a fish with his eyes as it darted back and forth. Goten crept even closer almost crawling on the ground now, so close he could have touched Trunks if he wanted. The air was still and there was no movement, Goten leaned right behind Trunks and yelled in his ear: "HI TRUNKS-KUN!" Trunks flew up three feet in the air before zooming face first into the water. The splash soaked Goten as well so he dove in and Trunks came up with a wide grin on his face. They started a race from one side of the leisurely moving water to the other and true to his self-promise, Trunks let Goten win. Goten jumped on the bank and cheered in victory as the water dripped off his spikes that refused to fall down when they got wet. Trunks came up out of the water in a few seconds and, together with Goten, started to gather up the fish he had caught. The two boys walked silently back to camp, naked in the warm weather and both smiling. Goten was smiling because he had won for once, and Trunks was happy simply because Goten was happy, and more importantly: alive.

Trunks went to find their clothes and Goten started a small fire with a weak blast and started to cook their breakfast. The smell of the cooking fish brought Trunks back quickly, before he could locate their stuff and he started to drool as Goten brought the fish away from the fire. He loved seafood. The Chibis sat down side by side eating fish and talking about trivial things between bites. Both had already forgotten that they were still wearing nothing but a little water from the morning swim and kept eating. Either they were too absorbed in eating or they didn't care, probably both. They had been through a lot together and there wasn't a thing they did not know about each other, a little thing like collective nudity wasn't a concern. Within a few hours they had packed up camp and dressed themselves and were flying toward a city. Trunks wasn't sure where they were, but Goten knew that they were heading somewhat southeast and that the city ahead must be Buenos Aires or somewhere close to it.

Landing inconspicuously in the middle of town, the Chibis started to explore the area. Almost nobody looked at the boys as the news of their strange escape had been kept under wraps in Mexico due to the humiliation of the police. It wasn't every day that they were embarrassed by letting two small kids just disappear from a maximum security prison. Both of them were getting bored with the city in seconds and were way too scared to ask for directions or information. They walked by a small pawn shop and something in the window caught Goten's eye. "Trunks-kun. Isn't that a Dragonball?" Trunks turned quickly and looked in the direction that Goten was pointing. "Yeah, I think it is," Trunks said, excited. "Let's go in and buy it!" They walked inside and were greeted by the owner but paid no notice, heading straight for the ball and already thinking of an appropriate wish. I wonder what I'm gonna wish for? thought Goten. I want a park filled with cakes and candies and tons'a yummy stuff that never run out!  Lesse, what do I want? Trunks thought as he walked toward it. An amusement park just for me and Goten, with all the rides for free, yeah!  The owner noticed where they were looking and led them to it, speaking in an off-Spanish accent. "Where's the money Trunks-kun?" Goten asked. "Trunks-kun?!" Trunks was gone. Goten looked around the store for his brother but found nothing, calling out his name but getting no response. Goten walked faster, his little heart beating faster, where is he, thought Goten as he walked past a doorway leading to a back room. He stopped and did a double-take; Trunks was inside.

Trunks was enthralled, he didn't know where it was from or why he had been drawn to it, but he did know that it was the most beautiful sword he had ever seen. It was rather unremarkable, just a common double-edged sword with a plain hilt and plain handle and it was in a display case next to its sheath that was brown and had a strap for carrying it on the back. Trunks thought he had seen it before, but he wasn't sure. I swear I have seen that somewhere, it's like I was really young but I can't make it out, Trunks thought, stroking his chin in deep thought. I can almost see myself wearing it, weird. Goten walked into the room followed by the owner who stood back looking at the boys' interest in the weapon that he had had for many years. It seemed to him that the boy was made for the sword, despite his age and size, and that the sword had been made for him. It was a heavy thing though, and he wasn't sure if the kid could handle it, but he had a feeling that this boy was special. He walked up to Trunks and bent down, speaking in flawed and heavily accented but understandable English: "So, you like what see you, little child. If you want, you can hold it for youself and see what thinks you." Trunks nodded slowly and the man opened the case taking the sword off of its stand, carefully handing it to Trunks with both hands. Goten watched carefully as Trunks examined the blade in his hands, turning it over with much care. He held it with both hands and gave a few tense probing swings at some imaginary enemies around him. It was amazing, it felt so light in his hands and although he had never handled a sword before it felt natural to swing it. The owner, too, was amazed, he had never seen someone able to handle the blade so effectively and with such ease in all the years he owned it and decided immediately to relinquish it to the extraordinary child holding it. He leaned down and Trunks reluctantly handed it to him. The man placed the sword inside its sheath and handed it back to Trunks. The older chibi reached into his pocket for some money, but the owner stopped him, placing a hand on Trunks' shoulder. Trunks looked up and the owner spoke softly, loud enough for just Trunks to hear. "I have that for many, many years now; never I have seen someone who use it well as you. For you, it cost nothing; you may have it," he said. Trunks took it and carefully placed it on his back, buckling the strap in front of his chest and admiring himself in a nearby mirror on the wall. Goten was still confused and still wondering why they had not bought the Dragonball yet, as Trunks pushed him out of the shop and into the busy street, but asked nothing. They silently walked on into a restaurant, Trunks hoped that he wouldn't be stopped because he had a sword but nobody seemed to care. Night began to fall, and the boys retreated to the outskirts of town, wanting to find a quiet place to camp alone. The darkness fell and the boys gazed up at the stars. Something bright came to their attention as their backs were bathed in a sudden light. Goten turned and looked in the direction of the light and spotted something. Trunks looked at Goten and noticed his tail was twitching back and forth and Goten was muttering something about it being so beautiful. Trunks turned to see what it was and he felt his eyes lock onto the thing in the sky, he couldn't move, he couldn't think; it was so beautiful and his eyes couldn't pull away.

A few minutes earlier, Yonk sat in his living room sipping a coke. He was careful to test the taste before drinking more, but was sure it was just plain old coke this time. Besides, they weren't here to prank him. I think I would put up with that if they were here, he thought ruefully. He was watching the news report when a cold light was suddenly thrown from his window to light up the side of the room in a golden glow. He honestly had no idea what it was, but the hair on the back of his neck prickled, and he swore he knew. The newscaster suddenly shifted gears talking about a recent satellite launch and Yonk's attention snapped to it. He listened carefully, the newscaster said: "So with much relief, the joint operation between twenty nations has been completed and the new man-made satellite has been finished. It emulates a full moon and has a similar effect as the once companion to Earth in space on our tides." Yonk spit out a mouthful of Coke onto the TV. "NANI! THEY CAN'T!!!" he yelled. He didn't believe it, he sprinted to the door and walked into his back yard and gazed into the sky. Sure enough there truly was a sphere up there that looked a great deal like a full moon, and the effect it had on Yonk was undeniable. He felt his body began to shake and his tail darted about, his Saiya-jin half was having one hell of an effect on him and he somehow just couldn't take his eyes off of the thing. He dragged himself back to reality with a concentrated burst of willpower. His stoic Kalltorran half had greatly helped him to overpower the incredible desire to transform, and he wanted to kill whatever human had come up with this insane idea. It suddenly occurred to him that all the Saiya-jin had already gone to Namek but that Trunks and Goten were still here! Oh kuso! They won't be able to control themselves in that form because they are so young! DAMNIT!!! he thought. He looked back to the TV which had all of a sudden changed to some small town; there were explosions in the distance. He wasn't sure what to do and he looked on in horror as the camera zoomed in to his once cute sons rampaging about as deadly Oozaru. His heart sank; it was sick, just sick. There was no reason for Yonk to even care about the humans, but he couldn't le this go on. He was pretty unsure on what to do, but he was sure that he most definitely not going to cut off his sons' tails. He liked their tails, they looked really cute with them and there was no desire in his mind to want to hurt them in that way. With a slight sigh he raised a hand toward the twenty-trillion-Zenni satellite and sent up a small blast, blowing it to mere atoms and bad memories.

The effect was instantaneous, the giant apes mysteriously vanished and nobody could figure out what had happened as the Chibis dropped into a clump of bushes, unconscious. A few minutes later Trunks stirred slightly, waking up. He felt confused and wondered why he was naked and also where Goten was. He had no idea where his clothes were, but his answer to the second question was quickly answered as Goten moved right next to him. "Goten? Why are you naked?!" Trunks asked, scratching his head. Goten scratched his head and said: "I dunno? But yer naked too Trunks-kun!" Trunks nodded and poked his head out of the bushes, looking about. Kuso! Where's my sword?! He climbed out and walked around, eventually spotting their stuff nearby in the midst of some really big footprints. He walked over and saw their Gis had been torn to shreds. Whatever it was that had stomped through here, it had evidently torn off their clothes and thrown them into some bushes. He wasn't worried, if they weren't enough to take care of whatever-it-was, their 'Tousan would definitely be. Goten emerged right next to Trunks and sorted through the stuff finding some spare Gis and handing one to Trunks. Goten was tired, he felt a lot like going to sleep, and didn't realize that he had just put on Trunks Gi. Evidently Trunks was just as tired as he was wearing Goten's Gi and they walked about to find their sleeping stuff. They located the sleeping bag and crawled in, falling asleep immediately.

A bit of a longer one this time, lucky you huh? Well, if you want more then you know how it works. Leave a review or two and you make me happy so I will write more! Thanks!
