Hey! It's update time, another short chapter, but it's actually the first part of a single one split in half because I thought it was two long. Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter 10: On to Paris

Trunks was the first to wake as he rolled over in the boys' small and worn sleeping bag and hit his head on a rock. At least he thought he was the first to wake up, he looked around and found that Goten was missing. Oh well, he thought. I guess this is revenge for getting up without him yesterday. He stood up and yawned, locking his fingers together and raising his hands over his head, stretching his back. After a brief scratch-attack on his head, he realized he had slept in his clothes...actually they were Goten's clothes. He wondered why in the world he was wearing his little brother's Gi, but decided to find the aforementioned chibi first. A quick scan over the area revealed Goten's Ki, but Trunks was confused as it was level, an indication that he was asleep. There really wasn't a good reason for Goten to be sleeping anywhere else, so the older chibi set off to locate him.

Goten watched carefully as the fish jumped in the water, a quick blast left the fish dead with minimal damage and he snatched it out the river. He put it on his small pile, determined to beat Trunks' record of 72 fish from the day before. Another fish swam past his field of view and he sent a blast at it, missing the fish's jump by mere inches. The energy ball hit a nearby tree and sent it careening into the river, scaring away all the rest of the fish, and hitting Goten in the head.  Goten was only briefly stunned by the several- ton tree, but a branch had hit his arm leaving a small cut. The spiky-haired chibi looked unemotionally at his arm, but then realized that the branch had left a tear in the chest of the Gi. Crap! thought Goten. He then noticed that he was wearing Trunks' Gi. Double crap! He looked at the water and saw that all the fish were gone; quickly deducing that he was unlikely to catch any more, he lay down and looked up at the sky. It was a reasonably nice day, but some clouds were gathering ominously on the horizon and Goten hoped it wouldn't rain. He closed his eyes and hoped that Trunks would hurry up so they could go do something; already the younger chibi was getting bored. Minutes later Trunks landed nearby and saw Goten sleeping peacefully. A little too peacefully, perhaps, and Trunks gently picked him up, hovering a few feet over the river. There was a splash and the sound of a screaming chibi followed by more splashing and a spluttering string of 'Trunks-kun!' plus a few choice metaphors. But Goten was quick to forgive Trunks and the two collaborated to make a meal out of the day's catch.

After a quick breakfast, the Chibis headed back into town to see what else there was to do around the area. Finding little, they retreated back to the woods where they could spar alone, careful to keep their Ki down and not transform into super Saiya-jins. The fight was slow and precise, each one was trying out some new techniques and this gave neither one a distinct advantage. "Hey Goten, that last one was pretty good, but how 'bout this?!" Trunks phased out of view and Goten turned to send a blast behind him. But Trunks wasn't there, a blow in the chest gave him all the confirmation he needed. Shimatta! He's gotten so good! I'm gonna have to use it. Goten had a fantastic ace up his sleeve, a technique that Yonk had taught him right before the beginning of their world tour. He briefly fought Trunks hand-to-hand before seeing an appropriate opening and dodging behind Trunks. Perfect! Goten thought as he readied the attack. Goten gathered the energy into his hands and shot a normal-looking blast toward Trunks. The hair on the back of Trunks' neck prickled, something is wrong with this, that blast is too small to do any real damage. What's he doin'?! he thought. The blast was about to hit when Trunks caught the ball in his hand and was about to throw it back when Goten smiled at him. "What?" Trunks said quizzically. Goten held out his hand, slightly curling his fingers inward in a crushing motion. The Ki ball exploded in a titanic explosion sending the lilac haired boy flying into the dirt with a crash, making a large hole. Goten's smile grew as Trunks picked himself off of the ground and looked up at him. "Goten! Where did you learn that?" he called to the sky. Goten flew down to Trunks without losing the huge smile and said: "'Tousan showed me how ta do that before we left!" "What?!" Trunks yelled. "He's been givin' you private lessons?!" Trunks seemed mad on the outside, but on the inside he was very happy. Wow Goten, you have gotten so strong. I was going to let you win but it looks like I don't hafta! He walked up to Goten and ruffled his spiky hair affectionately. "That was pretty good Goten, but can you do me a favor?" Trunks asked. "Sure Trunks-kun, whad'dya want?" Goten responded. "Well, I just got that really cool sword and I wanna try it out." Goten's smile faded and was replaced by a look of fear. He swallowed nervously. "You're gonna cut me up to see if it's sharp?" Trunks face-faulted when he heard that. He stood up again and laughed at Goten. "No, I wouldn't do that. I just want you to help me with it." Trunks said. Goten quickly agreed and they went back to find their stuff.

The two boys sat down on the ground, exhausted beyond any reasonable recovery. Trunks carefully wiped the dust off of his sword before placing the blade back in its sheath and setting it on the dirt. Goten lay down and looked up at the sky, it looked like rain. His view of the clouds gathering overhead was suddenly obscured by Trunks' face. "Hey Goten, it's not time for bed yet. Get up!" Trunks said. Goten smiled and sat up, placing an arm around Trunks' shoulders and embracing him. "Yeah," he said, "but I'm pooped Trunks-kun. That was very tiring, training with that thing." Trunks looked over at the sword and thought to himself about how natural it felt to hold it, he could have sliced the whole planet in half with it if he so wanted, but he was content to fell trees instead. A sudden drop of water splashed on the ground next to Goten and the younger chibi looked at it curiously. This was followed by another drop, and then another, and then yet another. Within a few minutes, the two boys were huddling under a tree to escape the pouring rain and trying to keep their stuff dry. "Trunks-kun, why's it gotta rain just when I felt like doing something?" Goten asked. Trunks just shrugged his shoulders and listened to the steady beat of the raindrops on the ground. Goten felt a little bored and just like he usually did when he got bored, he had to start moving. He started to fidget. "Hey," Trunks said noticing the movement next to him. "Stop that!" Goten stopped and tried desperately to sit still, while he did so, his mind started to wander. "I miss 'Tousan." Goten said. Trunks heard and his mind, too, started going off to his home. "Yeah, I do too." The rain kept going and a crack of thunder made Goten jump and he let out a yelp of surprise. He pushed himself closer to the tree and closed his black eyes, hoping the rain would stop. "You know, maybe we should just go home." Goten thought about this and responded. "Maybe, but there was one place I always wanted to go," Goten said. Trunks turned to face him and said: "Where's that?" Goten smiled broadly, "Paris!" he said. Trunks grinned, saying: "Sure, sounds like it might be better than here anyway." I hope they don't speak Spanish, thought the older chibi. A bolt of lightning cut unexpectedly through the sky, lighting up the area with a sudden flash. Anticipating the coming thunder, Goten shivered and pulled himself into Trunks. Trunks held his younger brother close and gave him his reassurances that it would be okay. The sky was dark enough to give the impression of nightfall, even though it was only late afternoon. Feeling safe in each other's arms, the two twin-terrors dozed off to the rhythmic patter of the rain as it saturated the forest with life giving water.

You can never have too much cute in one chapter, ne? That's what I think, please review, thanks for reading!
