Another update, and another chapter. This story has changed and grown to become something I never thought it could be, and it has surprised me at times. I was writing as I sometimes do, without thinking much about it, just writing, when this chapter came out. I don't want to spoil it for you all, but this one is different; painful, piercing, and violent beyond what I ever thought I was capable of writing. Just a fair warning, it gets very violent, sick almost, and I must say it scared me when I re-read it. That having been said, here you go...

Chapter 13: Trouble in Paradise

It felt like such a lazy day, the boys decided that it wouldn't be good to lie awake in bed too late and finally decided it was time to get up. They finished off the rest of the junk food from last night and, fully hyped with pure sugar, decided to get some more training done. Trunks ran off to get his sword and Goten sat back to look at the clouds, it was a nearly perfect day, the Chibis were in paradise.

Goten sat back against the cool face of the rock, watching Trunks practice swing the sword around, cutting up stuff. After only a couple of days, the older boy was getting quite good and was picking up the skill quickly, almost naturally. Another large tree fell and Goten marveled at how effective his brother wielded the weapon. Before the tree hit the ground, it was sliced into thousands of shards of wood and then blasted to atoms by Trunks' free hand. The chibi twirled the sword around impressively and then tossed it up into the air. Goten watched it reach its apex and then plummet point first straight down toward Trunks. Trunks didn't even look at it as he leaned casually to one side allowing the blade to slide neatly into its sheath on his back with a click. Perfect. Goten started to applaud and Trunks walked up, grinning and wiping some sweat from his brow. "Pretty good, ne?" Trunks said. "Yeah," Goten said, still beaming. "You're pretty good with that; you make it look easy." Trunks shrugged his shoulders and sat down next to Goten, saying: "I dunno, it feels so natural. It is easy for me!" He leaned his back against the rock and let his arm fall affectionately around Goten's middle, pulling him close. The only sound was the chirping of a few birds and the soft sound of the river flowing out of the mountain lake.

Presently, the peace and quiet was broken as Goten squirmed in his place and pulled away from Trunks' firm hold. "What is it?" Trunks asked. "Erm..." Goten faltered. Trunks smiled and said: "Com'on Goten, whatever it is you can tell me." Goten paused for a second. "Well...," he started, "...you smell Trunks-kun." Trunks' smile immediately faded and turned into a slight scowl. "Hey! You don't exactly smell good either!" he retorted, shoving Goten aside. "Yeah," Goten said back. "But I wasn't flying around for hours sweating! I think you should take a bath!!!!" Trunks stood up and said: "I think you should to!!!" "Fine!" Goten shouted. "Fine!" Trunks shouted right back to him. The two chibis faced away from each other and crossed their arms. The silence was deafening. Trunks broke the awkward silence and turned to Goten, saying softly: "Okay, I'll take a bath if you want me to..." He trudged over to the side of the lake, stopping on the way to pick up the capsule with the soap in it. He brought it out and set it down, pulling off his clothes and stepping into the cool water. He barely noticed as Goten walked up as well and stripped down, approaching the edge. The younger boy watched thoughtfully as Trunks washed himself and shifted his feet uncomfortably. "Well?" Trunks said suddenly. "Are you gonna stand there or are ya gonna get in?!" Goten still didn't know what to do. "Umm...Trunks-kun," he said, "I don't have any soap of my own." Trunks smiled and motioned toward the water, saying: "Come on in, you can use some of my soap." Goten's happy look returned at once and he dove into the crystal clear water, swimming in earnest toward Trunks. The older chibi threw the bar to Goten, who started to soap up his arms with it.

After their bath, the boys dried themselves and got dressed to head into a nearby town for some food. They arrived at a small restaurant and quickly ordered up half the menu. The maitre'd didn't care how much the small children could eat; he just wanted to get the whole order right; it was his first day on the job. Within a few minutes the food began to come out and the Chibis started to eat their soup. They each took a few sips and looked around a bit. A slight Ki reading registered across their acute senses, and they looked around more, trying to tell where it came from. A sudden explosion broke apart half the restaurant, giving them the answer. The fireball consumed the maitre'd as he was exiting the kitchen, tearing him apart. Both boys fought back a rush of nausea as his eye bounced off a nearby window and plopped into Trunks' soup bowl. Another explosion followed, destroying a nearby building, and Trunks ran outside with Goten right on his heels. An energy blast flew over their heads, blowing a bus into a fiery inferno, and they powered up in response. Turning around a corner, the Chibis ran on and then came face-to-face with a horrible monster.

At first neither Trunks nor Goten had any idea what exactly it was that they were looking at. It was short, fat, rounded, wearing strange clothing and yellow gloves, and somewhat pink in color. It also had on a belt with a curvy 'M' on it as well as a sort of tail coming out of its head. "What...the hell?!" Trunks said slowly. "I dunno, Trunks-kun, let's just get rid of it," Goten said. Whatever it was, the two boys decided that they were going to punish it for killing so many innocent people...and for interrupting their meal. The creature, finally noticing them, stopped what it was doing and turned to face them. They dropped into fighting stances and raised their Ki slightly in anticipation. There was a short pause, and then a dwarfish man walked from around a building and approached the small group. "I see you have met my pet, I knew that you would be here," he said. "Don't underestimate him, you will end up dead very soon. He is even more powerful than the first one could ever think of being, and he obeys me absolutely; I intend to avoid dying in the same unpleasant way as my dear, late-" "HEY!" Trunks yelled out, shutting up the talkative creature. "Who are you? And talk fast or we might kill you, too!" he said loudly. "Oh, how stupid of me," the strange man said. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Bebidi, son of Babidi!" The name had no effect whatsoever on the boys and he nonetheless continued: "I recreated the greatest weapon ever know, Buu! Now he is twice as bad and twice as much fun! Now he can transform at will and with this..," he just wouldn't shut up, and the pink thing clapped its hands as his master ranted on. Goten turned to Trunks and asked: "Whats'a 'Buu'? Is that something you can eat?" Trunks just shrugged his shoulders and they turned back. "...but I had some trouble naming him, but found a good one eventually. Allow me to present the implement of your doom, Buu-Buu!!!" The sounds of chirping crickets could easily be heard as the Chibis tried to figure out the logic behind the name. Trunks spoke up first: "Um...that is the stupidest name ever! What are you thinkin'?" Goten scratched his head and thought for a moment. "Isn't 'Buu-Buu' a clown or somethin'?" said Goten. "No," Trunks said, whacking Goten lightly on the head, "Bobo is a clown. Baka na!" They argued for a short time until Bebidi interrupted them. "You obviously don't know who you are talking to, perhaps a little lesson is in order," he said. Trunks groaned, not more lessons! I hate lessons! he thought. Bebidi then started his tale: "I am from the future, a future where I am building the ultimate Majin creation, ten-billion times stronger than Buu-Buu. He was almost defeated by a small group of people, including the two of you, led by a strange alien with glowing green hair. But in the end we beat you all and I plan to bring him back to this time for more fun. First, I have brought you Buu-Buu, just to give you a small taste of the carnage to come when I unleash my greatest weapon here. So have fun, and try not to get too hurt!" With that, Bebidi gave a small salute and winked out of sight, back to his own time in a small flash.

The pink beast stared down the boys, seemingly ready to make his move. Goten scanned the creature's Ki and whispered to Trunks: "Let's start as super Saiya-jins and finish this fast, okay?" Trunks didn't think there was a need, but agreed and the ground shook as they ascended, becoming surrounded by brilliant yellow auras. They dropped back into their stances and awaited an attack, preferring to start a fight in a defensive position. Buu-Buu made no movement and the Chibis narrowed their eyes, curious at his actions, or lack thereof. Deciding to wait no longer, Trunks yelled: "Now!" and with a flash they tore past and attacked from two different directions with a quick succession of powerful punches and kicks. Goten flew up into the air and launched a few energy blasts, hitting dead on. But when the dust settled, the monster had not even flinched. Trunks drew the sword on his back and dove down toward Buu-Buu, slashing at him with it and reducing the thing to cold-cut in seconds with a loud yell. He drew back and fired another Ki bomb which blasted apart much of what was left of the deserted town. Without warning, Buu-Buu started to reform and was quickly back in one piece, still not moving as the boys stared in disbelief. "Kuso," Trunks said, taking a step back and replacing his sword, "he's good." Goten fell back into his stance and said: "Let's show that big, pink gumball what we can really do!" "Right," Trunks agreed and with a blinding flash they upgraded to super Saiya-jin two.

Yonk woke up with a start from his bed and sat up, looking around. It could have been a nightmare, but he wasn't sure. The feeling in the pit of his stomach distressed him though, something was going on. He glanced back toward the digital readout of the clock; it read just past 3:00 AM. He felt an evil Ki way off to the east, and the feeling of how much power it held deep inside made him shiver. The next feeling was better, a warm familiar pair of Kis, his sons, but the thought of them being there with that thing paralyzed him with fright. He jumped out of his bed and threw on his Gi. They are gonna need my help, I gotta go now! he thought. Raising two fingers to his forehead, he tried to lock onto their Kis to use the Shunken Idou. His eyes darted back and forth behind closed lids as he tried to concentrate. I-I can't get a lock onto them, they are moving too fast and too erratically for me to follow! Yonk thought. Wishing he had paid more attention to Goku's lessons when he had learned the technique, he shot off in the direction of France to help his sons fight. His incredible speed at over 400 miles a minute would get him there in less than one quarter-hour, he hoped it would be fast enough.

Contrary to what Yonk thought of their capabilities, the Chibis were not having a problem with their opponent. Having raised their power level to unheard of levels with their latest transformation, they were easily kicking Buu-Buu around like a rag-doll. For a few minutes they had some fun hitting the hapless creature back and forth in a live version of 'Pong'. Trunks stopped and landed on the ground, displaying a wide smirk. "That's enough, let's get rid of it!" he said. Goten landed next to him and they both started to charge up for a final blast that would end the fight. Buu-Buu picked himself up and smiled, saying: "Me no scared! Me toy with you and make you tire yourselves, now Buu-Buu show you what Buu-Buu can really do to you!" The energy gathering in the boys' hands vanished with a light pop as they let out a simultaneous 'huh?' With a sick grin Buu-Buu extended out his Ki and started to power up, forcing the Chibis to throw up energy shields to protect themselves from the ensuing pink explosion. The afterimage cleared and they blinked in confusion, he had changed. He was taller, thinner and definitely looked more evil than before. The thing on his head had also grown to about eight feet long. "Trunks-kun..." Goten said. "What just happened?" But Trunks didn't answer; he could feel the monster's energy increase and could only hope that Otousan would get there fast.

The features of the landscape blurred into colored streaks to Yonk's vision as he tore past. He didn't need to see where he was going; he could feel the right direction from the Kis there. An erratic radar blip appeared for just a second as the NORAD defense system locked onto something fast. The young lieutenant monitoring the readings almost fell out of his chair as the computer registered an object traveling as nearly 200,000 feet and moving at better than 24,000 miles per hour. That was about standard orbiting speed for the space shuttle. The man had just started to think about contacting his superiors when the readings disappeared as the object moved out of range. Phone calls were made, high-ranking officials were briefed, the President of the United States was awoken and informed of a possible weapon threat and arrangements were made for him to go underground. The man with the codes needed to launch the entire American nuclear arsenal in a suitcase handcuffed to his wrist was kept close just in case. Within a few minutes the combined military forces of the USA was put on high alert, DEFCOM 2, and then were eventually relaxed as nothing else came up. Meanwhile, the people of the United States slept on, unaware of the buildup. Yonk didn't know, and he wouldn't have cared anyway, he felt only the chill of near vacuum and his sons Kis as they started to fluctuate, a very bad sign. He intended to make sure no harm would come to them, and sped up. His eyes narrowed and his energy pulsed around his body, vaporizing whatever was in his way. He was awesomely powerful; his Ki level was higher than ever before; Kami knew what he was capable of.

A building exploded into flame as an energy blast erased it from existence, sending more debris flying. Inside, a very pissed and very bloody Goten emerged and tried desperately to think of a new strategy. Buu-Buu hadn't let them fuse, knocking them aside whenever they tried to form the proper pose, and they were quickly running out of options. Goten tried again to return to SSJ, but just didn't have the energy. He and Trunks were getting rammed; Goten looked up; correction, Trunks was getting rammed. The older boy put up an excellent fight but couldn't hold up as Buu-Buu dodged his attempt and wrapped his head tail around the boy's neck, holding him off the ground. The evil creature smiled and started to hit Trunks around, like a small punching bag.  Where are you Goten? I don't wanna die! Trunks thought as another blow to his middle forced more blood out of his mouth. He coughed painfully and was only dimly aware of his yellow Ki fading along the edges of his blurring vision. Buu-Buu tightened his hold and watched in delight as the color in the child's face started to almost match that of his hair. He was suffocating him. Trunks scowled, "Baka...yaro!" he mouthed, spitting on the monster that was killing him. His jaw slackened and his limbs fell limp as his blue eyes started to roll back into his head, he could feel nothing. A foot crashing into Buu-Buu's head didn't even faze him and he grabbed Goten's tail, swinging him around, giving him a few punches, and then throwing him into a cliff face as the younger boy screamed from the pain. The monster decided to go after him now, and dropped Trunks to the ground. Trunks couldn't see, he could only hear his heart beating faintly, and he didn't know how long it could keep him alive. Why can't I wake up from this nightmare? he thought, slipping in and out of consciousness. His hands twitched and the blood streaming from his open mouth began to pool by his lips. He was dying, and he knew it.

Goten opened one eye, he was a foot deep into some rock and couldn't move; his back hurt bad and his legs were numb. He tried to open his other eye but something was wrong, he couldn't see out of it and blood from a cut on his head started to flow into the empty socket. His eye was gone. Buu-Buu phased into sight right in front of him and crossed his arms before the chibi. I don't get it, Goten though, why can't we beat this guy like everyone else? Buu-Buu smirked superiorly, "Pitiful," he said. He grabbed Goten's right arm, pulling it out of the rock and lifted it up. "Having fun yet?" he asked. "You bet!" Goten said, forcing a grin. "Time o' my life!" Buu-Buu frowned and he increased the pressure on Goten's arm; the boy whimpered in pain. "Still having fun?" he said menacingly. "Go to hell you freak!" Goten said and Buu-Buu twisted the arm.

            The bones snapped.

Goten screamed, throwing his head back and forth and he tried to free himself again from the cliff as Buu-Buu let his useless arm fall. A sudden energy blast consumed the pink beast as Trunks gave one last effort to try to save Goten. Buu-Buu recovered instantly and appeared back by the older chibi, picking him off the ground and punching him in the face. Hard. Trunks' jaw cracked and he could barely stand, but did weakly with much effort. Buu-Buu frowned as the boy would not fall, then his characteristic evil smile returned. "Sleep well child," he said. Trunks didn't have a chance as the monster rammed a knee as hard as he could into the boy's crotch. Trunks collapsed onto the dirt with a choked cry, holding himself. The tears streamed down his cheeks in utter anguish as he saw he could do no more to help his little brother, and Buu-Buu returned to Goten. A flurry of blows rained down onto Goten as the monster released a final onslaught. Never in Goten's life had he known so much pain. He had seen what had happened to Trunks, paining the small chibi more than what was happening to him now. He couldn't hold up for much longer, his Ki was fading fast, and Buu-Buu suddenly stopped. "This is the end!" he said, preparing a killing blow.

Goten shut his eyes. For all he know Trunks might already be dead. Trunks-kun, how could I let you die like that? Goten thought, tears pouring out of his one good eye as he shut it and prepared himself for his own coming death. There was nothing he could do to stop it.

The battle was over, the boys had lost.

I don't really know why I wrote it this way. This was originally intended to be just a fun little story about Trunks and Goten and it changed, but I did not want to stop it. I set out to shock you in this chapter, I don't know if I was able to bring about the emotions that I thought I might, and I would greatly appreciate a review. Thank you.
