Hello, I´ve been writing fanfics for years, but this is the first time I´m writing in english. I hope there are not too many mistakes :-) Enjoy!
"What is that, Pip?", Merry asked and eyed the thing in Pippins hand.
"Come on, Merry, you haven´t told me what you´re going to get me for my birthday!", Pippin answered.
Merry grinned, he had no intention to tell Pippin about his birthday present.
"Only two days to go, Pip. And a thirteen year old lad should not ask his friends out about his presents.", he answered.
"Well, I´m still twelve", Pippin answered and looked Merry straight in the eyes.
"Doesn´t mean I´ll tell ya.", Merry said.
"Then I won´t tell you about the present I got from Frodo!"
He hid the golden object behind his back.
"Is that what you have there? You have convinced Frodo to give you your present that early? No, wait, you haven´t found it and took it? Have you?"
"No!", Pippin exclaimed. "I asked him about my present and he gave it to me."
"How often did you ask him?"
"I don´t know..."
"Peregrin Took - I know you."
"Allright, allright - I asked that long, that he finally gave up!"
Merry shook his head, but couldn´t hold back a grin. He did the same to Frodo when he was younger...
"Okay, Pippin. It´s allright. Frodo won´t be mad at you."
"He wasn´t mad at me! And he won´t be? Will he? Merry?"
"No.", Merry answered and smiled. "He´s experienced things like these before."
Pippin grinned and handed the little metallic thing to Merry.
"So, what is it?", he asked.
"It´s a Kaleidoscope.", Pippin answered proud. "You have to look inside."
Merry did as Pippin showed him.
"This is beautiful, Pippin."
"Yes - Frodo said the Dwarves made it... Bilbo gave it to him when he was a little lad. These are crystals in there."
"This is very precious, Pip.", he handed it back to his cousin. "Don´t loose it."
"I won´t.", Pippin promised.
