Disclaimer: *Imitates Yoda* Own nothing, do I. Own it all, does Tolkien. Very annoying to be talking like this, it is. Stop now, I will.

Important Author Note: Until I can fix the spaces problem, this is how 'tis gonna be: All the names below are one word, not… more than one: (Some space… other's don't)

Märon

Théoden (even if he's not in this story)

Lothló rien

Undó miel

Rä londï r

Tí rina

You'll see who some of those are later. Most of them are the names of horses.

Stupid Author Note: *In a bored voice* Review… no, seriously, review!

Chapter 8: Powerless

Elladan and Elrohir rode their horses quickly across the land.

"El, stop!" Elrohir yelled.

"What?" Elladan asked, riding over to his twin.

"What's that?" Elrohir asked, pointing over to a rock.

"It's a rock, Ro. Maybe we should have Adar give you a checkup."

"No, no… on the rock."

Elladan looked closer.

"It's Estel! Hurry!" They kicked the flanks of their horses and rode over to the child.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Estel wasn't aware that he was being held in a sitting position until he opened his eyes and his brothers were looking at him. Elrohir was holding him up.
"El? Ro?" He whispered.
"Are you alright, Estel?" Elladan said, kneeling in front of his foster brother.
"Legolas…"
"Where's Legolas?"
"He-- he's taken."
"What do you mean, 'taken?'" Elrohir encouraged the child to talk.
"I don't know where."
"It's alright, Estel. We'll get you to Grandmother."
Elladan got on his horse and Elrohir lifted Estel on the horse, who moved frantically, sensing unease between the elves.
"Go. I'll search for Legolas." Elrohir said. Elladan nodded his head and took off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Elladan entered The Golden Wood later that day. Normally, it would have taken longer, but Elladan hadn't stopped at all and rode so fast that no one would have been able to catch him, had they been in a pursuit. Luckily, the way was clear.

Estel was asleep in his arms, his hand clamped to something.

Elladan halted in front of stairs, elves coming to take his horse's reins. Arwen ran to greet Elladan and to help him get Estel to the Healing Room.

"Where is Elrohir?" Arwen asked as they heaved Estel up the stairs.

"He is looking for Legolas. We don't know where he is. Estel said he was 'taken' but we didn't know what he meant by that."

"I hope he's alright." Arwen said.

"He's strong." Elladan reassured her, also trying to convince himself Legolas was fine.

They set Estel on a bed and Galadriel came down a set of stairs and looked at Estel. She spoke Elven Words and stroked Estel's forehead.

Estel's eyes snapped open and he sat bolt upright. Galadriel kept speaking in elvish, coaxing the boy to lie back again. He looked around.

"Grandmother Galadriel?" He asked.

"Dina, Estel… esta." [Be silent, Estel… rest].

"Legolas?" Estel asked, staring around again.

"No, My Child, Legolas is not here."

"You didn't find him?"

"Ro is looking for him." Elladan said.

"Where am I?" Estel asked, looking around once more.

"The Healing Rooms in Lothló rien." Arwen explained.

"Arwen," Estel said, sitting up and Galadriel let him this time. He held out his hand and opened it. In his palm lay the chain that Legolas had entrusted him with.

Arwen stared at it.

//Flashback// (A very cute one!)

Legolas and Arwen played in the yard of Imladris. The young Elflings were playing monsters and Legolas was the heroic archer. Arwen was the princess whom Legolas would die for. He had died several times, but found it was very dull to lie on the ground while Arwen was free to walk about so he got up and claimed he couldn't die because it was boring.

The monsters were their parents, trying to catch the giggling pair to give them baths. The Elflings lost, but Legolas wouldn't give up without a fight and tried to save Arwen from the 'evil bath waters.' He was first to be cleaned.

As a thank you for trying to save her, Arwen gave Legolas her bracelet.

"Promise me we'll always be friends." Arwen whispered into his ear at dinner as she put the bracelet on Legolas's wrist.

"I promise." He whispered back to her.

//End Flashback// (See, wasn't that cute?)

Arwen's eyes filled with tears. She took the bracelet from Estel. Then, she completely broke down and started sobbing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Legolas was bound to a different tree, about fifty miles from where he had helped Estel escape. Now, he could focus on getting himself free. The problem was, after his little stunt trying to free Estel, he had also succeeded in making the orcs suspicious that he would try it again.
To prevent this, the orcs blindfolded him day and night, tied the ropes that were binding him so tight he could hardly breathe and giving him extra security.
This was stupid, because they had taken the dagger from him and he was now weaponless. He didn't know the location he was in, either. Had he known, he could draw a map of Middle-earth in his head and run the direction of Imladris, blindfolded or not. But having been knocked out one whole day caused him to lose track of his whereabouts and the blindfold didn't help. The only think he could do was struggle to delay the orcs and give Estel a chance to run somewhere and alert someone about him.
All he could do was hope. As Legolas thought this, he realized… for the first time in his life, he needed the aid of someone-- a child. For the first time in his life, Legolas was powerless.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Elrohir rode his horse fast over the grounds of Middle-earth. He had been riding fast, but the orcs were faster. Here and there, he could see signs of a scuffle, meaning Legolas was alive and strong enough to fight.

At once point, he saw something on the ground. He looked closer and saw that it was, in fact, elf blood. Legolas had been wounded.

Elrohir kicked the flanks of his horse Tí rina and she ran faster still. Soon, he could have to stop or he and the horse would collapse from exhaustion. He was afraid to stop. What would happen to Legolas?

"Hold on, Legolas." Elrohir whispered into the swift wind, blowing through his hair. The stars winked, telling him to hold on as well.

Okay, this chapter was so short, I am practically kicking myself! And I really apologize for the lack of Legolas in this chappie. This was basically about Estel getting to Lothló rien (It's still spacing and I'm getting really peeved!) and there was a little about how Legolas was despairing… to set the mood for what I am to do to him next… *evil cackle*. Thank you all for your reviews! I don't have much to say, or much time to say it, so I'll go now! Reviews!

XxgemxX- Heh, heh… I couldn't really not hurt him too much, 'cause I've already written up to chapter 15... YAY! But I couldn't change a thing without changing the whole story! Sorry if it gets too sad for you, but keep reading and it will get better… promise! : )

Leggylover03- I'll try to bring in as much Estel pain and angst as is possible! But be patient for a few chapters, 'cause right now, I'm focusing on Leggy angst. I feel so mean! But it is, after all, an angst! WAAAAA! But, I will definitely bring in the angst if I can! I promise you! And if it is not in this story… which I will try to make it so it is… I'll create another story for you! Bye!

45 REVIEWS! Good job guys!

Wow, those reviews are really piling up, aren't they? Let's see… a new record to beat… 50!
