Chapter 10: To take a Soul
Back in the caves of Emyn Muil, Legolas stared at the oncoming creature. When it stepped out of the shadows, Legolas saw that the threat was actually a woman. She had dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. She wore a dark purple cloak and her hands were folded in front of her.
"My Lady," The Orc-in-command said, "We have found him for you, as you ordered."
"Very well, Prog, you may leave. Have a little fun."
The Orcs smiled wickedly and walked out of the cave, leaving the woman and Legolas alone.
"Greetings, Legolas Greenleaf, Thranduilion, Heir to the throne of Mirkwood." She said, smiling at all of Legolas's visible wounds.
"What is it that you want?" He asked.
"You. Well, that is, I need you to get what I want." She said, "My name is Morier."
"You are foul! Why would you want me?"
"It looks like you took too many bumps to the head. Isn't it obvious? I want Mirkwood!"
"Why?"
"And Imladris and Lothló rien." Morier finished.
"Why?" Legolas asked again, trying to undo the chains on his wrists.
"Must you know?"
"It's my home."
"Very well. I want revenge. My mother was an elf-- foolish and had a stupid sense of pride about her. She left me and my father, a Rohirrim, for Valinor. I lived with my father in Rohan for years until one day, he was kidnapped by elves. Apparently, he had accidentally killed an elf. My father always had poor shooting skills. The elf did not duck in time and the arrow killed him instantly. My father went to see if he could help the poor creature. What he didn't see was the party of elves behind the bushes. They ran to him and dragged him to Mirkwood. Thranduil had him beaten, then, by his hand, my father died. He was shot in the heart with an accurate arrow. I went to that idiot king--"
"--My father--" Legolas cut in angrily.
"-- and told him to apologize and that he should repay me for the death of my father. He turned me down, the fool. My father only killed one elf! It isn't like he made the entire civilization collapse into dust!"
"It was a life." Legolas said.
"It was one life. But the way your idiot father went on about it, it was like my father had killed off every elf in Middle-earth! I decided to avenge my father's death, so at night, I snuck into Thranduil's bed chambers. Unfortunately, he woke up just as I walked into the room and he called for the guards.
I was sent to the dungeons and left there for years. What a terrible place. Being immortal had it's drawbacks. There is nothing to do for the rest of your life when you are in jail.
I was beaten regularly for being insolent and the guards even took a chunk out of my ear." She pointed to her left ear where there was a piece missing at the top where her ear obviously used to be pointed. "This was all under Thranduil's orders, of course and I grew a dislike for him and swore by the Valor that I would gain revenge on him for my father and myself. And here you are. I befriended some orcs who were wandering the wild and promised them fresh blood if they worked for me. They agreed, obviously, and brought you here."
"How did you get out of the dungeons?"
"I'm afraid I can't say, dear Legolas, for then there would be no secrets between us. All you have to know is I escaped and that is that." She stopped speaking, an evil smile playing across her lips. She stared at Legolas with a hatred and a longing. Then, she opened her mouth and her voice seemed, if possible, more malicious than before.
"Finally, after all these years, I am going to gain revenge on Thranduil!"

Estel rode on for hours and hours, yet no sign of Elrohir or Legolas came into view. He was growing tired. Rä londï r was slowing her pace and neither of them could go on any farther.
Estel jumped off the horse's back and settled down under a tree, Rä londï r lying down beside him (like Brego does in The Two Towers) . Estel looked at the stars.
"I'm useless." He whispered to himself, "All I cause is trouble." A tear slid down his cheek, "I'm sorry, Legolas." He sobbed, "I'm sorry I can't help you now. I wish to be more like you. To be brave and not give up… but I'm just- just a stupid human boy."
Estel cried himself to sleep.

Morier neared Legolas, her hand reaching into her robe and pulling out something. Legolas glanced at it. It was a small box, about big enough to fit a small ring, but nothing more.
"This is called the 'Soul Box,' Legolas," Morier explained wickedly, holding the box out for Legolas to see better. On the top of the box, a skull was carved between burning vines. Legolas looked at Morier, confused.
As though sensing his confusion, Morier continued, "It takes the soul of whoever I command it to. You will get to witness it first hand. Don't worry, it doesn't kill. It just preserves your mind and spirit, which is what a soul is in a way, but allows your body to grow, even if it appears dead. I will bring you back as soon as I am queen of the Elven Realms."
"You're crazy." Legolas said, starting to feel a tremor of fear spread throughout his body.
"I might be, but I am in need of being wanted. You are wanted, Legolas. You are lucky. That's why I thought you would be the best elf to hold for ransom."
"Don't do it. I could help you. I could help you if you promised to leave this evil you posses behind you." Legolas offered, trying desperately to free himself from the chains.
"It's too late for that. I want to see Thranduil suffer as he made me do once. I want him to feel my pain."
"Morier," Legolas used her name to try and bring some sense into her decision.
"Shut up. I'm concentrating." Morier closed her eyes and held the tiny box in her hand. The minuscule latch holding the box closed, undid itself. Morier opened her eyes and smiled wickedly.
"Now, Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood, say goodbye to the cruel world and be glad I am not keeping you around to see what I am to do with your beloved home." She opened the box.
Legolas felt a flash of light run through his body and a sensation that his life was pouring into the box. He was getting drowsy. He drew a shuddering breath.
"Estel…" He moaned and his body went limp. The latch of the box closed, locking Leoglas's soul inside.

I'm sorry if that was much too evil for you. Please keep reading!!!! This is not the end of Legolas. I repeat, This is not the end of Legolas!!! I am now going to start writing a little bit about his battles inside the box. Don't worry, I will also write about Estel, Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen and Galadriel and now a little about my new character, Morier. Ooh, she's so evil. I am hating myself right now for creating her. She is so evil! But don't worry, I would never, never, never, never, never, never kill off Legolas. HE SHALL LIVE!
Well, that's all for a few days! Boy, I left it at the perfect spot, didn't I? That ought to hold you all for a few days. I swear not to kill off Legolas! He is, after all, my favorite character! Anyways, don't forget to review and I'll post A.S.A.P. I'll post after my vacation, I SWEAR! So, I'll post later on Sunday or Monday… maybe Tuesday, but no later than that! Reviews!

XxgemxX- While I'm on vacation, I'll think of an elfling story! That will be really fun! Bye!
Wadeva- Way too rash of Estel, but that's what makes the angst… well… angst… lol. Adios!
Leggylover03- Yup, I left it at the most perfect spot to annoy people while I am away. But you will all see what happens to Leggy soon enough! I feel really bad for him!
Sammy- You're welcome! And Thank you!
Lorelei- This is actually for chapter one, but thank you very much for the compliment! I hope you liked this chapter!
Once again, I'm really sorry for leaving it where I did, but I'll be back soon enough to fill in what happens next… now we get to the real angst! *Evil cackle*. No, seriously! It will now be getting pretty sad. I cried when I wrote some of this stuff in later chapters. But you'll just have to wait and see what happens! *Cackles evilly… again*
I do NOT expect flames! I WILL expect annoyed reviews, but NO FLAMES (yes, there is a difference)! Don't forget; I warned you all in chapter 1 that this was going to be an angsty story. You had been warned and you still are! Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa!
