Chapter 11: Tears shall fall
Morier smiled as she saw Legolas go limp, his eyes now closed, which was unusual for an elf. She pulled a quill and paper out of her robe and wrote down her ransom requests. She was going to leave the Prince's body here, knowing that if elves were looking for him, they would find him, even in Emyn Muil.
Smiling, she wrote down her requests and tucked them into Legolas's belt. She undid the chains on Legolas's wrists and let him fall lifelessly to the ground. Before she left him, she reached down and ripped a large amount of his tunic off to keep.
"Goodnight, Prince Legolas, Heir to the throne of Mirkwood." She whispered, putting the Soul Box and the tunic fabric in her robe and walked out of the cave and to where she would wait for someone to answer her ransom requirements.

Elrohir was so tired, he could barely stay awake. Tí rina, his horse, was also tired. Suddenly, she stopped and Elrohir looked up. He was at Emyn Muil. Why would the orcs take Legolas there?
He decided to check it out in hopes of finding his friend. He nudged Tí rina in the flanks to urge her to go just a little more. In no time, he found a cave. He had his suspicions about the cave and decided to go in. He dismounted his steed and she instantly closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Elrohir walked into the gloom of the cave and his skin prickled a little. He hated caves. They did not show the stars at night. Walking deeper and deeper into the cave, he saw manacles on the wall and below them, a dark form.
He walked closer. When he reached the form, he had to stretch his eyesight and gasped. Legolas! It was Legolas!
He shook the elf.
"Legolas," he said, "wake up, mellon-nin." Legolas's head lolled to the side and Elrohir saw his eyes were closed. His heart received a shock.
Legolas can't be dead, he thought, Legolas is probably just tired. He leaned his ear over to hear Legolas's heart. If he were not an elf, he would not have found a heartbeat, but his extra sensitive ears helped him pick out the tiniest heartbeat he had ever heard. It was only as loud as the sound of an ant walking up a tree.
"Legolas," Elrohir said again, tears in his eyes, "wake up! Lasta beth nin! Legolas!" He started yelling, shaking Legolas even harder. [Listen to my voice]
Elrohir's eyes filled with tears with hatred. The orcs had flayed Legolas within one inch of his life. A tear fell.
The elf looked down and saw a piece of paper in Legolas's belt. He pulled it out and opened it.
It read:
To the Elves of Mirkwood, Imladris and Lothló rien,
My name is Morier. You may remember me as the Elandili [Half Elf] who was taken prisoner in Mirkwood. I have escaped and am now looking for one thing in general from you.
Legolas appears to be dead. He is not. I have taken his soul and it now rests in the Soul Box. I will restore it to his body when I receive what I ask for.
I command the crown from all three Elven Realms. I will be known as Queen Morier in all three territories and the three current rulers must step down from their thrones.
That is my request. Legolas is safe with me, but if I don't receive what I ask for in one month, I will kill Legolas's soul. You have been warned.
Morier
Elrohir stared at the letter and re-read it three times, then folded it up and looked at Legolas. The elf's head had tons of bruises and cuts and he looked pretty battered. Elrohir started crying. Why must this happen to Legolas? What would they do? He wanted Legolas back, but it would mean giving up the elven realms.
Then Elrohir thought, what would happen to Estel? Estel would beg for Legolas to be returned to them and if they refused, Estel would most likely do something drastic. Elrohir picked his friend up and took him out to Tí rina and put the elf on her back. Then he climbed up himself and the horse awoke.
"Tí rina," Elrohir said, "Take me to The Golden Wood. And hurry." The horse neighed tiredly and turned around and galloped in the direction of Lothló rien.

Estel awoke and stood up. He could see someone in the distance coming in his direction. He looked harder. It was Elrohir! Estel could recognize the Imladris horse. He waved and Elrohir saw him, his heart sinking. What would Estel say when he saw Legolas?
About fifteen minutes later, Elrohir stopped in front of Estel.
"Legolas!" Estel said happily, running forward and pulling on the hem of Legolas's tunic, trying to wake him. The elf did not move.
"Legolas?" Estel said. Elrohir dismounted and pulled Legolas off the horse too and settled him under the tree Estel had slept under. Legolas's eyes were still closed and he looked pale now that Estel could see in the light.
"Legolas!" Estel yelled. "What happened?" He asked Elrohir.
Elrohir sighed and handed Estel the note that he had kept under his tunic. Estel read it, tears filling his eyes. When he was done reading it, he looked at his foster brother.
"What does it mean, Ro?" He asked with a quivering voice, trying to be strong. "What does it mean, 'Soul Box?'"
"His soul has been taken." Elrohir said.
"He-- he's dead?"
"No," Elrohir answered. "But he's close to it."
"But he can't die! He can't! I won't let him!" Estel cried, running to Elrohir and pressing his face to his bother's chest, sobbing.
"Shh, Estel." Elrohir tried to calm the child down, patting his back.
"I betrayed him. I shouldn't have run! I shouldn't have left him! I should have helped him! It's all my fault! I'm useless!"
"Estel, don't say that. First we must get Legolas to Grandmother. She might be able to bring him back."
"What if she can't?"
Elrohir's heart plummeted. What would they do if Galadriel couldn't bring Legolas back?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Soul Box:
Legolas came out of unconsciousness to see a blurry outline of someone looking at him. He sat up and the figure walked to him.
"We were hoping you would wake up soon." The form said. It was a female. She had long blonde hair that was braided back and her high cheekbones supported her silver eyes. Her ears were pointed. The funny thing was, she had a blurry outline as did the other two people surrounding Legolas.
"Where am I?" He asked.
"In the Soul Box." The girl said, holding out her blurry hand and Legolas took it. He noticed his outline was blurry as well. She pulled him to his feet but he was so weak he fell to his knees.
The she-elf laughed as Legolas blushed at not even being able to stand up.
"That's alright." She said, "None of us could walk for a week after we had been taken from our bodies. You just have to get used to the new environment."
Legolas said nothing.
"Here, I'll sit down so you don't feel as bad." The she-elf said, sitting next to him.
"My name is Jaefonsel. (It's pronounced JAY-fun-sell) What's your name?"
"L-Legolas." Legolas said, rubbing his head.
"It's nice to meet you, Legolas. These are my friends, Cilardh (Pronounced: KILL-arth)" Jaefonsel pointed to another she-elf with brown hair and darker blue eyes but with a slightly upturned nose "And Ioliad (Pronounced: YO-lee-add)" She pointed to a male elf with blonde hair and blue eyes, like Legolas.
Legolas nodded to each of them in turn and they nodded back.
"So, what are you in here for?" Jaefonsel asked.
"Ransom, I guess." Legolas answered.
"Why are you being held for ransom?"
"I'm the Prince of Mirkwood--"
"You're Legolas Thranduilion?" Ioliad asked.
"Yes."
"I'm sorry, your highness. I thought you were someone named after you." Ioliad said.
"It is alright." Legolas said.
"I'm here for getting on Morier's nerves." Jaefonsel said. "But basically everyone else is here for ransom money."
"How long have you been here?" Legolas asked.
"I've been here for about a millennia. Some have been here longer and there have been some humans and dwarves that come here, but if the ransom isn't paid, they stay here and it's always depressing when one of them dies. I'm glad you're an elf."
"You can die in here?"
"Yes, just like on earth. You live out your life in here. The only things are you have no need for food or water here. The problem is, elves can't give up their lives in here. It's impossible. Otherwise, most of us would be long gone.
Legolas looked at the sky and saw that it was black. There were no stars, but were great shooting beams of different colors rocketing through the air. Legolas's mind turned to Estel.
"Estel…" Legolas said, remembering his last word in Middle-earth.
"Hope?" Cilardh asked.
"No. He was named 'Hope' by his foster father, Lord Elrond of Rivendell."
"I don't remember him having a foster child. How old is the elfling?"
"He's about ten, I think, but he's a human child."
"A human?"
"King Arathorn and Queen Gilraen's son."
"Arathorn and Gilraen?" Cilardh asked.
"Of Gondor."
"You'll have to excuse me, Prince Legolas. The last ruler of Gondor that I've heard of was King Valacar in 1432. What is the year now? I've lost track of time."
"2941." Legolas answered.
"How the time flies."
"So what about this… 'Hope?'" Jaefonsel asked. Legolas sighed, thinking of his friend. It brought tears to his eyes.
"He… was my best friend." Legolas said in a wavering voice.
"Oh, I'm sorry. We can stop talking about it if it hurts too much." Jaefonsel said. But Legolas needed to talk to someone.
"He was mad at me. He didn't talk to me before… this… and… and…" Legolas released a sob. Cilardh patted his back and Jaefonsel took his hand and stroked it to calm the prince.
"I must get out of here." Legolas said, "I must apologize. I must see Estel."
"There is no way out." Ioliad said.
"I must get out, don't you see? I must!"
"Prince Legolas, there is no way out." Ioliad said again. Legolas stood up but fell back down again due to his weak legs and slammed the ground with his fist.
"I can't stay here! I am needed! Estel needs me! He needs me! He cannot fight on his own, but he will try, I know he will!"
"Calm down…" Jaefonsel said.
"I must get out…" Legolas said, his voice getting fainter as Jaefonsel rubbed his back soothingly.
"Legolas, we have tried for years to get out. There is no way. But we swear, we will do everything in our power to help you, even if it not viable to do so."
"Estel needs me." Legolas said.
"We know, Estel needs you. And we will help to find a way back. But there are no promises. We have tried for centuries to get out."
"I must get out." Legolas said.
"Why don't you go to sleep, Legolas?" Jaefonsel asked, pushing Legolas gently to the ground and walking away with Cilardh and Ioliad. Legolas let his tears flow down the sides of his face.
He had failed Estel. He had failed everyone. He had failed Mirkwood. He hadn't even made it all the way there. He had failed. The worst thought that entered his mind before he fell into a sleep was what if he never saw Estel again?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Awww, poor Leggy! Too bad for him! But you must read more to see what happens. Ha, ha! I'm in a 'ha, ha!' type of mood. Ha, ha! Anywayz, I'm back, so you won't have to wait long for the rest of the chapters! Lucky you! I'm sorry I left it at that spot before I left, but like I said, I'd keep Legolas in this. I mean, why would I put this story under the 'Legolas' category and not have him in it? He's cool! YAY! Anyway, time for reviews!
Trinityelf- Awaiting band! Not awaiting Biology and Physics! I'm glad you had a great time! BLOOM! YAY! I LOVE THAT CAFÉ, AS OF NOW! Yay, now I have you in suspense as well! *Evil cackle* Ha, ha! Well, I'd better review for everyone else.
The evil witch queen- Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the story! Nope, not good for Leggy or Estel!
XxgemxX- EVIL MORIER! Did you know that in elvish, Morier means 'Evil one'? I thought it was the perfect name! I'll talk more about in MUCH later chapters!
EnglishMystic- Are you new to my reviewing page? I'm not sure if you are… you know, I should just find out for myself. Here's the next chappie!
Mistopurr- Hey, Misto! I'm really sorry if I don't e-mail you for a while! My e-mail is down and I have so many viruses, I could fill a swimming pool with them! Don't take it in an offended way if I don't e-mail you right away. It's driving me insane! I MUST HAVE E-MAIL! You know what?! Ned Kelly isn't showing ANYWHERE near me! It's not fair! I MUST see it! It's driving me nuts! So, anyway, I'll e-mail you as soon as my e-mail comes back up. (Maybe tomorrow, I'm not sure how bad it really is, so this is just a forewarning) Bye!
Wadeva- Don't worry, I won't kill off Legolas. I already swore I wouldn't. He may come close to dying sometimes, but I will never kill him… not yet anyway, 'cause I don't want to give away too much about what's coming up. All I can say is-- He's not going to die for a while, but I would seriously hate myself FOREVER if I kill him, so there is a 99.9% chance that I will NOT kill him! And even if I did, I would bring him back…somehow… it is a fanfiction story, anyway! Bye! : )
Leggylover03- This one wasn't as evil as the last one, but it's still pretty sad. I had a hard time writing these stories. But here's the next chapter and I will update A.S.A.P.
Deana- *shudders as well* How would that feel to have your soul taken away? *shudders again* But it was one of the most heart-wrenching chapters I have written thus far and I was crying by the end of it. I went to bed crying when I wrote it! But now, I'm getting to a hard part in the story. Remember, I'm on chapter 18 right now, so this wouldn't be for a long time for you guys, but I am wondering whether I should stop it soon or keep going. You see, I have lot's more ideas for adventures, and I'm wondering if I should just add them on to this story, or create a whole other story for them… Let me know what you think! Bye!
***
Author Note/Disclaimer Type… thing- Just to let you guys know, Jaefonsel, Cilardh and Ioliad are my creations. I'm sorry if the pronunciation is hard, but they're pretty fun names. Once again, Jaefonsel is pronounced: JAY-fun-sell, Cilardh is pronounced: KILL-arth, and Ioliad is pronounced: YO-lee-add. Jaefonsel and Cilardh are females and Ioliad is a male. Also, I kinda wanted them to all be of different elven races, so Jaefonsel is from Lothló rien (there it goes, spacing again), Cilardh is from Imladris (Rivendell) and Ioliad is from Mirkwood, like Legolas.
WOW! 67 reviews! That's awesome! Almost 10 reviews more than when I last posted! Keep it up guys, you are making me one happy she-elf! Yes… I am an elf… STOP LAUGHING!
DON'T FORGET TO REVIEW… as always… *sigh*
Luv,
