Title: Inseparable

Author: Legolas-gurl88

Disclaimer: I wish I owned Legolas and Estel, but sadly, I don't. Someday, I wish to own my OWN characters! If you don't understand what I mean, I mean I wrote a book and I'm hoping to publish it! Then, maybe, people would want to write fanfiction about it! That would be cool! Why am I putting this in the disclaimer? Why am I even putting this on here at all?

Author Note: Hey all! I'm not really sure what to say, but I just wanted to put an author's note up here. Yeah… we're heading into April now… yup… April… good month… mm hm… warm… okay… yeah… bye!

That was odd… anyway, enjoy this chapter… I have a feeling guys will… you angst lovers, you!

Chapter 12: Meetings of Elves and Monsters

Estel awoke from his sleep. As soon as his eyes opened, he felt guilty about closing them in the first place. He was curled up in a chair of the guest room. Legolas slept-- well, Estel really wasn't sure if you could call it sleeping-- on the bed, his eyes closed. Estel walked to his friend and place his small hand on the elf's.

"I'm sorry, Legolas." He repeated what he had been saying since he had seen Legolas like this. He felt as if Legolas were dead. And Estel couldn't get out of his mind that he hadn't forgiven Legolas for yelling at him so long ago. Those problems of whether or not he would be caught sneaking into Legolas's army group seemed childish to what the problems were now. Now, Legolas was not there to comfort him. Legolas was not there to sing him a song or give a word of encouragement.

Estel's eyes filled with tears which he tried to hold back. But staring at Legolas's pale and dead-looking face was too much for the ten-year-old. He buried his face in Legolas's tunic and wept. He didn't even know the words to the song Legolas had sung him. It was all in elvish and he didn't know enough elvish yet to translate.

That day, Galadriel came in about five times an hour to check for any changes in Legolas's state. She checked his pulse, felt his forehead and looked in his ears, mouth, nose and eyes for any way of bringing him back or any sign that he could communicate. She brought crushed herbs, all different. None of them worked. Galadriel was draining herself of strength and was very tired. She knew in her heart that Legolas couldn't come back unless Morier's requests were fulfilled. Elrohir had given her the letter before falling into a chair and sleeping. Elladan and Haldir had to carry him to his room and no one disturbed him. He had done his share of the hard work.

Elladan had taken to comforting Arwen, who was so close to letting her life go. Her remorse was equal to that of Estel's, yet of a different kind. She had known Legolas for so long. And for him to be gone and the charm bracelet back on her wrist instead of his was heartbreaking and she could barely handle it.

Elladan was the comforter, but he had his own problems. Being the oldest of the children, he had to hide his sorrows in attempt to heal the other's, but each night, he wept himself to sleep.

Haldir was sad for Legolas, but didn't know him as well as the others and basically, kept close to them all. He brought Estel food, because the boy refused to leave Legolas's side. He was the listener of the children's problems and he was the aid of Galadriel when she needed some crushed herb immediately.

The letter led them all to be more afraid. It was Legolas's only chance of coming back, they all knew that. But the prices were very high and it would mean the end of the elves. The decision was hard. For that, Galadriel called upon Elrond and Thranduil to come to Lothló rien.

Five days passed, Elrond arrived from Rivendell. As he rode up on his horse, he was instantly greeted by his three crying elf children. Estel still refused to leave Legolas. Thranduil was expected a day later, but didn't turn up until three more days had passed. Apparently, he had to sneak away because the war was still going on at Mirkwood.

The first thing he said to Galadriel when he rode up on his horse was, "Where is my son?" She led him to the prince's side where Estel had fallen asleep, his head on Legolas's chest where he had set it down to start crying.

Thranduil fell to his knees at the sight of his son.

He crawled on his knees to Legolas's bed and stroked his son's bandaged forehead.

"Legolas, listen to my voice. Lasta beth nin. Answer your father. Please… my son…." He started crying, his hands moving to Legolas's chin, cradling the prince's head in his hands. Elrond and Galadriel stood, watching the king. They wanted to give words of comfort to him, but they knew he needed this time alone.

Elrond moved to the bed and picked up the sleeping Estel and set him on the chair in the corner. They let Thranduil keep to himself for fifteen minutes, when Galadriel broke in to his sorrow, "Thranduil, if you would kindly leave your son and join us in the meeting room. Thranduil shook his head.

"I will not leave my son."

"Thranduil, if you come with us, we may find a way to bring him back to us. Do not think you are so alone in this sorrow. We all feel it. Even little Estel, who hasn't known Legolas half as long as you. Please, come with us. We will make the meeting as short as possible. Then you can return here."

Thranduil choked down a sob and stood up. Will great pain, he left his son's side and followed the two other elves into the meeting lounge. They all sat down and Galadriel pulled the letter from Morier out of her pocket. She read it and the other two elves listened.

When she finished, Thranduil instantly said, "She wants Mirkwood, does she? Well she can have what's left of it if I get my son back."

"We should not be so quick to offer her three elven realms." Elrond said.

"I only want my son back, Elrond, so if you please--"

"Please, gentlemen," Galadriel broke in, "Let us not start a fight so early into this talk."

"I only want my son back!" Thranduil said. "What did Legolas ever do to her?!"

"It was not him who did it, it was you, Thranduil." Elrond said.

"Me? How so?"

"You imprisoned her and beat her until there was nothing left in her but hate and evil."

"She would have killed me. She was only being punished."

"There could have been other ways around the situation."

"Are you saying I'm irresponsible?" Thranduil asked incredulously. Galadriel said nothing, only let the two elves argue. She would not be able to stop them for some time. She would wait until they were done fighting.

"I am saying nothing of your behavior. It is true, she should not have acted so rashly, but you did kill her father--"

"-- He killed one of my people!"

"-- And you killed her father."

"He was a human. What did it matter? He would have died anyway."

"He was her only family."

"A human."

"Tell me, Thranduil," Elrond said, folding his hands and trying to remain calm, "How does it feel for you to have Legolas gone?"

Thranduil paused as the subject of his son came into action.

"Let's not talk about that." Thranduil said.

"You feel hurt, scared, worried, sad--"

"Thank you, Elrond, for pointing out how I feel." Thranduil said.

"Do you think all the things you feel now were not similar to those that Morier felt when you killed her father?"

"Are you siding with her? She took my son from me!"

"I am not siding with her. But she feels she can call it even if she takes Legolas from you."

"That is not funny, Elrond."

"I am not intending to be funny, I'm just speaking the truth. Maybe an apology--"

"Elrond, believe me. I know Morier. She is not one to accept apologies, she is one to gain everything she can."

"That is where are talk should start." Galadriel said finally. "Are we willing to give up the elven realms for Legolas?"

"I am willing to give anything for Legolas." Thranduil answered immediately. He stared at Galadriel and Elrond, waiting for them to offer their realms. After a long while, Galadriel started.

"I am willing to give up my place here in Lothló rien for Prince Legolas." She said. Thranduil could have kissed her, he was so happy.

Elrond sighed.

"Yes." He said, "For Legolas. Now the question is, who should go to Morier? She left no specific directions."

"She is waiting in Emyn Muil, a little farther in than where Elrohir found Legolas." Galadriel said.

"Who shall go?" Elrond said.

"I wish not to. I must be here for when my son awakens." Thranduil said.

"I will go." Galadriel said.

"Mother, you cannot go." Elrond said.

"Elrond, you are my son-in-law, not my supervisor. I will go for Legolas. Elrond, you must stay, for you are a better healer than I and Legolas might need medical attention when he awakens.

"Very well. Go quickly. And may the Valor be on your side."

Galadriel stood up and walked out of the door. Ten minutes later, she was riding her stallion, Maladar, to Emyn Muil, to bring Legolas back.

Estel awoke and found himself in the chair again. Someone must have come to move him. Silently, he stood up and walked back over to Legolas. He could see that no change had come over Legolas.

Tears welled up in his eyes again and he let them fall down his face. He didn't think he would ever be happy again. Legolas was gone and no one would bring him back. He closed his eyes and started to hum the song that Legolas had sung to him. The words, he still didn't know, but the melody haunted him. He hummed louder and louder until he couldn't take it any more and hit Legolas's chest angrily.

"Wake up, Legolas! This isn't funny! It never was! Wake up!" He sobbed and sank to the floor, pulling his knees to his chest, resting his arms on his knees and resting his head on his arms. "Wake up…"

In the Soul Box:

In his head, Legolas could hear the melody of the elvish lullaby. He sang along with the words in his sleep.

Suddenly, he was shaken awake. He waited for his eyes to focus and saw Jaefonsel staring at him, her braid hanging over her shoulder. When she saw he was awake, she smiled.

"That was such a pretty song, Legolas. What's the name of it?"

"It's called 'Glaer oen Elenath' or, in the Common Tongue, it is called 'Song of the Stars.' It is an old elvish lullaby that I sang to Estel when he was a baby."

"You really do miss him, don't you?" Jaefonsel asked, putting her blurry arm around Legolas's shoulder in a comforting way. Legolas lowered his head.

"I promise, I'll help you get out."

"Hannen lle." Legolas answered. "Where are Cilardh and Ioliad?"

"They are just over there." She pointed in the distance.

Suddenly, the ground started vibrating.

"Balrog oh Udû n." Jaefonsel whispered. [Demon from Hell]. "They come here often. They are able to, since this is an evil place. Come," She took Legolas's arm and pulled him up since he was still a little weak in the legs. Once he was standing and had his arm over her shoulder, she helped him limp away. Cilardh and Ioliad came to help. It started to get hot.

Legolas stumbled, causing Jaefonsel to fall to her knees. Ioliad pulled Legolas to his feet and helped him run while Cilardh helped Jaefonsel up. Legolas looked behind him and saw the Demon.

"Don't look back, Legolas. Keep running. Focus on moving." Ioliad panted. Legolas's legs were screaming in protest and his face started to get hot. His breath came in short gasps. The four elfs ran from the Balrog, it's flames starting to get hotter and hotter. It was right behind them.

They ran behind a boulder and the Balrog ran at them. There would be no way they could outrun it. It peeked around the boulder and raised the whip it was carrying. It stuck down on them and they ducked. The whip's thongs snapped at the rock. The Balrog reached down and grabbed the boulder and picked it up. It threw the rock behind it, carelessly, then brought it's whip down on them again.

The three healthy elves ran before the whip hit them, but Legolas, who had a hard time even standing was not fast enough. The flaming whip stuck his back and burnt the back of his clothes. He yelled in pain and rolled around, trying to put the flame out. When it was out, he spun fast so he could dodge the whip.

"Hey! Balrog! Udû nea hun!" Legolas heard Jaefonsel call from behind the Balrog. It turned and she ran from Legolas to lead it away from him. [Demon! Hell's child!]

"Jaefonsel!" Legolas yelled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Deal." Morier said to Galadriel. "Now, we shake."
Galadriel's heart was heavy as she shook her lands away from herself. Morier was now Queen of the Elven Realms.
"You will bring Legolas back, now?" Galadriel said.
"Yes, yes. But first, I order you and your family to move out of the palaces. They all (the palaces) belong to me, now. Pack your things and leave. The elf people may stay, but I banish all royal families from any of the Elven Realms. So says the Elf Queen."
"Will you give me a few days to get back and for Legolas to be checked over?"
"Very well. I must be fair. I give you seven days to pack and get the Mirkwood brat from my palace."
"Bring Legolas back, please." Galadriel said.
"Very well." She pulled out the Soul Box and whispered to it. The locked clicked open and Morier pulled up the lid.
"I command the Soul of Legolas Greenleaf to return to his body."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the Soul Box:

"Jaefonsel!" Legolas yelled again as Cilardh and Ioliad helped him to his feet. His back stung where he had been hit by the whip. He did not care about that. Jaefonsel was in trouble.

Just then, he felt a rapid light run through his body. His blurry body started to glow more than any elf could glow. There was an inaudible whispering and the colorful beams in the sky darted even faster. Cilardh and Ioliad let him go, surprised.

"What is happening?" Legolas asked.

"You have some good friends, Legolas." Ioliad said.

"You are being restored to your body." Cilardh finished. "Farewell, Legolas. We shall miss you, our new friend."

"B-but… Jaefonsel…"

"We'll take care of her. Balrogs cannot linger in such a place as magical as this for long, even if it is evil. Do not worry."

"Namaarie, Legolas." Ioliad said. Legolas's last glimpse of his friends was them running after the Balrog and Jaefonsel, before Legolas's sight completely blanked out.

Have I made some of you happy? I hope so! I wanted to keep Legolas in the Soul Box longer, but it was getting really boring with the star of the story being stuck somewhere and doing nothing. But this next chapter is really cute… a little more elvish! Actually, a lot… Sorry this chapter was kinda boring and I understand if it didn't make sense. If it did not make sense to you, please review me and I will try to explain it to you. Thank you! Oh, and I made this chapter REALLY long, so BE HAPPY! YAY!

WOW! When I was gone over Spring Break, I read three books! I re-read 'Fellowship of the Ring,' 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape,' and a new one, 'Midnight for Charlie Bone.' It was very good and I finished all 300-and-something pages of it in one day! Do any of you have any books to suggest to me, 'cause I'm running out of ideas. Most of my writing explains what type of stories I like. I like fantasy/mystery/funny/somewhat scary/sad/action/adventure stories! What about you guys? Let me know, so I can go out and find them so I can read more books! Yes, I am obsessed with reading… don't laugh, why do you think I'm on fanfiction? Thank you! REVIEW TIME!

Alariel- Very pleased, be I! Thank you very much for your compliments! I really enjoy hearing that other people like my story! About the italics, I'm not sure how you get them, but I've been writing my stories on another computer and transferring them onto a floppy disk. Maybe, save them to .html or something, 'cause that's how I save mine as. Give those a try! I hope I was helpful!

EnglishMystic- Oh well, you're not new anymore! Heh, heh! Thank you very much and I hope you enjoyed this chapter! ;)

Mistopurr- Hey, Misto! I'm REALLY sorry that I haven't been e-mailing you. My e-mail just came back up, but I don't know for how long, and it lost all the e-mails people have been sending me for the past couple days, so whatever you sent to me while I was on vacation was lost. I'll try sending an e-mail to you and if it doesn't work, my e-mail is down again! Don't think I never want to speak to you again, 'cause it's fun communicating with someone across the Atlantic Ocean! So, how've you been? Have your two weeks of not seeing any pictures of Orlando come to an end yet? You know, the one where your friends challenged you to do it? I hope so! It must be so frustrating! I wouldn't be able to get by one day without him! Especially when he's on every side of my room (even the ceiling!) on posters! I wouldn't have the heart to take them down! You're BRAVE! Anyway, talk to you later, Misto! Bye!

Leggylover03- Okay, I'm glad you're being very patient and I am trying REALLY hard (once again) to work in some Estel angst! Bye!

Deana- Thank you very much for your suggestions! I'll probably do that! I'm already adding on to this story, another plan that keeps up with the old one 'Evil Morier' but will soon have, 'Evil --------' (That's not supposed to be a bad word, it's the name of someone later in the story, but I can't spoil it for you!) Bye!

Trinityelf- I haven't received your review, yet, but I know you sent one, 'cause you told me today, so I decided to respond to the non-existent review! How're you? I'm so mad at Mr. Feely! REALLY MAD, PRECIOUSSSS!!!! I can't wait 'till June! Okay, the days we're going to Lopez are from June 10- 13. We'll leave on the 10th and come back on the 13th, so we'll really be there for two whole days as it takes us 6 hours to get there if the traffic is good in Seattle! But the nice thing about the six hours… my mom bought us a traveling DVD player, so on the road, we can watch POTC and TTT and… ROTK!!!!!!! I forgot it was going to be out then! YAY! I was thinking, for my Legolas costume, I could save up the money from my summer job and buy the elven brooch… it's only $60 anyway (one of the cheapest things in that book!) But it would be cool! Also, since your dad is really good at woodworking, I was wondering if he could make me arrows… NOT WITH THE TIPS ON THEM, but just the body (the stick part) and the tail feathers… I would provide all the stuff, but it would be really helpful, that way, when I put them into my quiver (I have no idea where I'm gonna get one) they will make me really feel like Legolas! I'm gonna try to make my own bow and use twine as the bowstring… sounds good! I'll paint it all brown! YAY! And I've decided I'm gonna put PERMANENT BLEACH in my hair to get the Legolas look. NO, I'm just joking about PERMANENT bleach, but I will put some temporary bleach in my hair. Wow! This was a long response… even if I didn't get you review yet! WOW! Namaarie!

WOW! 72 reviews! That's a lot! Thank you all sooooooooooooo much!

DON'T FORGET TO REVIEW! *Runs away from annoyed people who are thinking 'I know! You say that EVERY TIME!'*

Luv,
