Chapter 1
The Return Home
The plane glided softly along the clouds and Lizzie stared at the beautiful display of the setting sun and its lights reflecting on the surface of the cotton formations. Along the way many things crossed her mind.
"What's going to happen between us now, I mean, that was a really great kiss, are we going to get together or pretend it didn't happen, I'm going to have to talk to him about this when he wakes up, I need to know!
Gordo did not wake until the plane had touched ground. They de-boarded and went to pick up their luggage.
"Hey, mom, could you do me a favor and grab Gordo's stuff too?" Lizzie asked. "I want to talk to him for a sec."
"Sure Lizzie, but what are you going to ask him?" asked Jo, Lizzie's mother.
"Figures my mom would turn a little request into question about my personal life."
"Just need to ask him something, no big." replied Lizzie. Jo eyed her suspiciously.
"Okay, but hurry up honey." She said. Lizzie found Gordo and leaded him away from the crowd.
"Gordo, we need to talk." said Lizzie.
"This is about that kiss isn't it." replied Gordo.
"I hate it when he does that!"
"Uhh…right! I was just wondering what was going to happen next." said Lizzie.
"Well do you want something to happen between us, cause to be perfectly honest with you I'd… I'd really like that." said Gordo.
"Yeah, I'd like that to." agreed Lizzie "But what would happen if we, you know, broke up one day, I mean, if I lost u as a friend I don't know what I'd…
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what makes you think we'd break up?" interrupted Gordo.
"well it's just…" started Lizzie.
Gordo interrupted again. "Lizzie, it'll be ok, trust me. Look, if your not willing to take the chance, that's ok, I'm not going to force you or anything, it's just that I am willing to take the chance, but take some time to think about it ok."
"No, that's ok Gordo, I've already decided and… I want to give it a try." said Lizzie. They looked at each other for a moment, and then they kissed again. After saying good-bye to Gordo, Lizzie joined her family and they got in the car and left for home. Along the way Lizzie told her mom about everything that had happened between her and Gordo. Her mom was thrilled, her dad, Sam, wasn't too happy about it but he felt a little better about the fact that he knew Gordo and it wasn't some mysterious guy he didn't know. When they got home Lizzie dropped the bag she was carrying on the floor and said
"Rome was great but it's good to be home!"
