Slightest Breath
I've clung to humanity these dark and wild nights,
Not yet abandoning my human dreams.
Even as I sit here writing this,
I remember those years with a human heart.
Can there ever be a cure for the damned?
Or are we all to burn in Hell's fires forever?
As I stare at the candle's weak flames,
The slightest breath of wind extinguishes it with little effort.
How I've wished for it to snuff this horrid life.
I let the pen lie near the candle
While looking at my trembling wretched hands.
Did I do this unspeakable crime night after night?
Or did the Devil's hand play me like a puppet?
But I live, live like never before
Because we are all cowards trying to find excuses
for never ending the evil within.
