Remembrance

I stand beside your grave,
It's been ten years since I was last in Kyoto,
Ten long years,
I kneel to pay my respects and pray,
Pray that you are resting in peace,
I pray that my heart shall heal soon,
Even if it needs a little help,
It starts to rain,
I do not move...I act as if the rain does not faze me,
I look up at the raining clouds,
As that day ten years ago replays in my mind,
I am glad it is raining,
That way no one can see the tears falling from my eyes,
Soon after the rain stops,
The clouds part,
And as if introducing the presence of someone,
A rainbow appears in the sky,
I look to my side as someone calls my name,
My eyes light up as I see her run towards me,
Her raven hair flowing in the gentle wind,
Her sapphire eyes sparkling with joy,
She stops in front of me with an umbrella in hand,
Trying to catch her breath,
She tells me everyone is ready to depart,
To go back to Tokyo,
To go home,
As I follow her to the ship,
I feel my heart heal,
The wounds from your death are finally gone,
I can finally move on with my life with little regret,
I know you'll always watch over me,
Making sure I don't make mistakes that could ruin my life,
I swear I'll keep my promise to you,
I will live on as long as I can,
For you,
For her,
She has helped many,
But none as much as me,
Unknowingly she has helped to ease my heart,
More than once she has saved me from the darkness that threatens
to consume me,
The darkness that is the Battousai within me,
For that I would willingly give my life to save her,
A tug on my sleeve pulls me back to reality,
She was tugging on my sleeve because I was daydreaming,
When she saw I was fine again she continued walking,
But this time she walked beside me,
A smile tugged at my lips,
As I looked up to the sky again,
I whispered her name,
"Kaoru..."
