The night was approaching fast as I slowly made my way to my room. Every step was hard as Dallas help me not to fall. I wondered how long it was going to take before I was held. The light shinned in threw the windows and I glanced out to see the piano and swing. It seems like an eternity ago that the "monster" was still alive in our back yard. I sat down on my bed and Dallas sat beside me.
"So, when do you plan on telling me the story behind Pigs Flying?"
I took a deep breath and looked deep into his eyes. They had so much to tell. Growing up all alone and to fast, yet still there was youth somewhere in there. I heard Reenie yelling downstairs as I started to explain. "The Pigs Flying is a saying I would always say. You never would think pigs could ever fly. I never once thought I'd like this place but I do. Thanks in a large part to you."
Dallas looked stunned. He didn't say anything, but he didn't need to, his face said a million words by itself. "Well," he started but was soon stopped. My dad stood at the foot of the hall yelling at us.
"Buddy, Dallas, Ya'll up there? It's time for you two to come down here and eat."
"Okay," Dallas responded and started to stand up. He moved over to me and was helping me stand when suddenly he look totally different. I don't know if it was a change in lighting or a change in my heart. But Dallas look different then I'd ever seen him before. He no longer looked dirty and strange, but lovable and caring. His smell wasn't of mustered and earth, it was a warm smell and his smile was one I'd never seen before. For once, it was real.
