Okay, here is my fifth story. Four out of six are finished, so....Please Read and review! I do not own YYH, Sakura, or Neko. By the way, since this is partly in school, I had to call Kurama by his human name. Just so you aren't confused, I spell it "Suiichi," so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Full summary: Jenni had always lived a life of sorrow. When she meets the Reikai Tantei, she finds life isn't all sorrow. Will she learn to love, or will she end up doing something everyone will regret? HieixJenni

Jenni was 15. She had long, brown-red hair that was loose. She also had green eyes with amber rims.

Jenni walked to school as she usually did when she saw him. The pretty-boy Suiichi that practically every girl in school lusted after. She snorted. How just about every girl in two school could fall in love with one guy was beyond her, but she didn't give a damn anyway.

"Hey, Kit!" Jenni's friend Sandra, or Neko, called from the front of the school.

"Hello, Neko, Sakura," Jenni said, putting on her emotionless mask for the day. She did that every day before school.

"Hey Neko, Kit," Sakura, or Kim, said, jogging up to them.

"I'm going to homeroom early. See you later!" Jenni said, waving and jogging off to her homeroom, which she happened to share, along with all her other classes, with Suiichi Minamino.

She would usually go there early to write. She would write her feeling on paper all the time and stuffed them into her backpack when the bell rang.

Today, however, she was trapped in her own mind. Her own memories. Memories she wished would just disappear.

~ Flashback to when she was 4...~

Jenni stood, watching as her grandfather died. When he did, two men drove him away to be cremated. Jenni tried to run after the truck, but her father picked her up and carried her inside. She was sobbing and hiccuping. That was the first tragedy.

~4 years later. Jenni is now 8~

Jenni was sitting in her room, playing with her cat, Donna, when the heard the knock on her door. "Come in," She called.

Her mother came into the room and sat down on the bed next to Jenni. "Jenni? I'm sorry to say, but....Greatgrandma is dead."

Jenni stopped short. She stared at her mother. "D-dead?" Her mother nodded. Jenni started to cry silently. Her mother tried to comfort her, but nothing worked.

~ Another 4 years later. Jenni is 12.~

Jenni was in second period when a summons came for her to go to the attendance office. She walked in and saw her mother there.

"Jenni. Grandma's dead. I'm sorry," Jenni's mother said. She looked over at Jenni, who had slumped in her seat.

"How?" she managed to croak out through her tears and anguish.

"She was in a car accident," Jenni's mom hugged her and offered to carry a book for her. Jenni didn't talk to anyone for two weeks after that.

~ Present...~

Jenni had not let anyone near her heart after that. She had built a wall of ice around her heart. That was 3 years ago. Jenni was now 15 and was the second best student in the school, topped only by Suiichi Minamino.

As Suiichi passed her desk, he slipped a note onto her table. It read: Jenni, please meet me in the forest, in the clearing you often go to, after school today. – Suiichi.

Jenni looked up and nodded once, hardly enough to catch, at Suiichi. He smiled at Jenni, who snorted slightly and looked down at her work.

Jenni allowed a small smile to play across her face as she drew. Jenni drew a small, black fox kit, the vixen, and the father. All three were surrounded by black flames. There was an unknown person with blood red eyes, spiky, black hair with one white starburst. He wore almost all black except for a white scarf and a white headband.

Jenni smiled proudly, looking down at her newest drawing. She liked it because she liked black, and because it looked rather sad, depressing, lonely. Just like here.

She almost allowed a crystalline tear to run down her cheek, but she stopped it harshly, hiding behind her mask again.

~ Lunch...~

Jenni closed her locker with a snap and walked over to her favorite sakura tree. She climbed until she found her favorite branch, which was a good 10 feet off the ground.

"Hey, Kit!" Neko yelled.

"Yeah?"

"Wanna come down and play with us?" Sakura asked, coming up beside Neko.

Jenni smiled slightly and shook her head. "No, I think I'll decline today."

"You do that everyday!" they chorused.

"I have something I want to work on. I'll see you later," Jenni said, waving slightly. Jenni sighed. She always spent lunch in the tree. Most other kids weren't allowed to climb trees, but because she was a strait-A student and second best in the school, she was allowed to do that.

Jenni saw Suiichi walk past her tree. Suiichi glanced up and saw Jenni sitting in the tree all alone. "Mind if I join you, Jenni?" he called up.

Jenni glanced down and shook her head. "Come on up if you want." Jenni really didn't mind him, but she thought he was just another smart pretty- boy. She sometimes wished that someone like Yoko Kurama would come and take her away.

Suiichi climbed the tree and sat next to Jenni. She was ignoring him and working on a drawing. "What's that?" Suiichi asked, looking interested.

"Hmm? This? It's nothing. Just a picture that came to mind. It's not my best, but you can see it if you like." Jenni handed over the picture and Suiichi stared at it.

"When did you make this?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.

"Started it in homeroom. I'm trying to finish it, but I just can't get this right!" Jenni said.

"Which part?"

"Here. That person. I just can't get his eyes right." Jenni pointed to the demon dressed in black.

Mentally, Kurama's thoughts were whirling. 'How did she do this?!?! I'm positive she's human, yet she drew Hiei unknowingly and black kitsunes. Does this mean that she's not really human?' "You know, you can't be emotionless forever. You should tell someone what happened in your past to make you like this."

Jenni was amazed. 'How did he know?!?!' "I-I don't know what your talking about," Jenni lied. She had hoped that he would fall for the lie, but he did not.

"Liar," he whispered. "I know your lying to me. Why don't you tell anyone what happened? Bottling it all up inside of you won't help you very much. It only leads to more pain," Suiichi said softly, capturing Jenni's eyes with his.

"Alright," She said, giving up. "I'll tell you after school. If you want to ring friends, make sure they are trustworthy and will tell nothing to anyone else." Suiichi nodded and Jenni smiled slightly. "See you later, then." Jenni climbed down the tree, threw her lunch away, and walked towards the gym, which was her next class, as well as Suiichi's.

Hiei appeared next to Kurama. "Fox, what was so special about a drawing that you needed to call me?"

"Hiei, that had you in it. It had you, standing on a tree branch, and black fire surrounding three black kitsunes. As far as I know, she is human," Kurama said.

Hiei's eyes widened slightly and he said, "Are you positive she had never been to Makai or seen a demon before?"

Kurama nodded. "I'm positive. Though, she reminds me of you. She has a bad past, though what exactly her past is, I have no clue. She hides behind and emotionless mask all the time. She has no-one to talk to except two close friends, who are both rather popular. I got her to agree to tell Yusuke, Kuwabara, and I about her past. I would like it if you were there as well. You can relate to her. Will you come?"

Hiei nodded slightly and flickered off. Kurama smiled and climbed down the tree to follow Jenni.

~ After school...~

Jenni closed her locker again and walked out of school. She had all the books she would need for the weekend. She walked to the clearing and saw four people. She saw a boy with slicked back black hair, a boy she thought was ugly with orange hair, Suiichi, and a boy with gravity-defying black hair. "I know you," Jenni said, pointing to the last boy.

Everyone looked at her. "Look," Jenni said and pulled put her drawing. The last boy took a step forward and took the paper. He stared at it, then passed it on to Suiichi, who passed it on to the last two.

"That definitely looks like Hiei, except a bit younger," the first boy said.

"Jenni, this is Yusuke Urameshi, Kazuma Kuwabara, and Hiei Jaganshi," Suiichi said, motioning to each respective boy.

"I'm Jennifer Emerald, but I prefer to be called Jenni," Jenni said, holding out her hand to Yusuke.

"Are you new around here or something? Most people try to avoid me," Yusuke said, looking perplexed.

Jenni smiled hollowly. "Yes, Yusuke, I have heard of your reputation. I prefer to get to know people rather than go along with general opinion. Besides, I may be able to hold my own against you in a fight. But that's not the reason I came," Jenni looked at all four boys in turn.

Yusuke and Kuwabara looked puzzled. Suiichi nodded and Hiei didn't say anything.

"I've decided to tell you of my past," Jenni said, looking away.
