Disclaimer- I do not own Harry Potter or Draco Malfoy, they belong to J.K. Rowling; I just screw with their lives.

A/N- This story came to me right before I fell asleep one night. I thought up the title and had to write it down but too lazy to get paper, I wrote on my arm. But my pen was out of ink so I grabbed a permanent marker instead. Now I have The Dog Star written on my arm in permanent marker which takes a while to wash off. And lately the weather has been warm but I can't wear short sleeves because people ask what is on my arm. Oh well, I like this story so it's all okay. Also, just so you know, this story is slash but not based on the relationship. Now that you have sat and listened to my ramblings, you may read the story.

The Dog Star

Harry sat on the roof of the Astronomy Tower staring up at the night sky. This had become one of his favorite spots during the winter season. His eyes were welling up with tears as they focused on a particular star, The Dog Star. "Sirius," he cried.

"Shush, it's okay." Strong arms were wrapped around the crying boy's shivering body. "Don't cry, it's not your fault."

"I know," said Harry leaning back into Draco's warm embrace.

"Which star is it?" Draco asked, knowing full well which star his lover's attention was fixated on. But it had become almost a nightly ritual asking him anyway. The boy was hurting and even the smallest moments like this one help to ease the pain.

Harry loved to show the path to the star his godfather was named after. It was sad yet comforting to think of him. "Sirius is in the southern sky." Harry said not bothering to point out the direction since Draco already knew where to look. "He," it comforted Harry to think of Sirius as a person rather than an it, "is in the constellation Canis Major. If you follow Orion's belt, it points right to it.

Draco looked up towards the star as a small smile crept onto Harry's face. The ebony haired boy snuggled deep into Draco's arms and closed his eyes. They sat there for a few minutes in the quiet night before the blonde stirred.

"Come on, love. We should go back inside before we freeze to death."

Harry got up, grabbed his invisibility cloak, and took one last look at the Dog Star. A single tear rolled down his cheek. It was time to move on. He knew that this would be the last he spent up there, starring at the stars like this. Draco had helped him so much since his godfather died. He had made the pain leave. Harry turned and took the other boy's hand as the walked back inside the castle, not looking back.

Now that I've finished writing this, (because it took me a lot longer than it should have) I've realized that it has helped with the pain of the fifth book. Sirius is one of my favorite characters (along with Remus and Draco) and I couldn't stand the end. I think I felt worse than Harry did. I just really needed to write this and I'm glad it's finished (although I thought it would be longer).
