Hiei watched Jenni as she slept. 'We should train her in spirit energy. From what the fox told me, black kitsunes can use fire and can manipulate plants. We'll have to test that theory tomorrow.'
~ The next morning...~
Jenni woke up to the loss of heat next to her and the smell of breakfast. She walked into the kitchen and saw everyone gathered around a table.
"Good morning, Jenni," Yukina said. "You should have some breakfast before you go out to train."
Jenni stared at them blankly. "Train?" she asked nervously.
"Didn't Hiei tell you? He's going to test your skills with a katana and see what sort of energy you have. I'm going to help, most likely," Kurama said, smiling comfortingly.
Jenni nodded, then smirked. "Well, if he thinks I'm not an expert at using a katana, then he's wrong. I haven't spent half of my life training for nothing." Jenni grinned, and one could almost see fangs.
Kurama chuckled quietly.
~ After breakfast ~
Jenni and Kurama met Hiei outside. All three of them walked out onto a field. Jenni stood there, planning. Hiei looked impatient.
"When are you going to draw your sword??" Hiei finally snapped, angry.
"You'll see soon enough." Jenni practically told him to attack her, not quite in so many words, however.
Hiei leapt at her and Jenni jumped over him, drawing her blade as she went and making a small cut as she did so.
They battled for about half an hour before Hiei declared that Jenni knew enough to defend herself from an excellent swordsman.
"Alright, Jenni. Clear your mind and try to feel the energy inside you. Once you do that, try pulling a little bit of it into your hand," Kurama instructed. By now, the rest of the Reikai Tantei had come out to see what sort of weapon Jenni would have.
Jenni did as she was told, and a ball of black/purple energy was in her hand. She knew what to do. She put it all into her finger and aimed at a random boulder. She fired, calling out, "FIRE GUN!!" A blast of black flames shot from her finger and demolished the boulder.
Yusuke whistled. "That looked a lot like my Spirit Gun, except it was black and a ball of flames instead of spirit energy."
"Well, you know how to use two weapons now. Kurama will finish your training from here," Hiei said and flickered off.
Jenni and Kurama worked on plant manipulation for the next 5 hours. By the time they stopped, Jenni was exhausted from using so much energy.
"Are we done yet??" Jenni asked after collapsing, yet again, from energy loss.
Kurama nodded and picked her up. He helped Jenni inside and made her sit on the couch while he went to get some dinner, seeing as they hadn't stopped for lunch.
"Has anyone seen Hiei?" Jenni asked as she ate. Everyone shook their heads. Jenni frowned at this. She stood up to leave when she found Kurama in the way.
"Where are you going?" Kurama asked, getting like an over-protective older brother again.
"For a walk. I'm going to find Hiei, more precisely. Even if I can't use my spirit energy, I still have my sword with me and I still have enough energy to last in a half hour battle with that," Jenni said, grinning.
Kurama grudgingly allowed her to go. Jenni walked silently, looking for Hiei. She found him in a tree in the forest. Jenni jogged up to him and climbed the tree. She was soon sitting next to him on the branch.
"Why are you here, Kit?" Hiei asked, unemotionally.
"Because I was wondering where you were and I wanted to get away from the dimwit and the baka."
Hiei snorted slightly. "Have you met Genkai yet?"
Jenni shook her head. "Nope. But I want to. I'm guessing she's the one Yusuke called 'Grandma,' right?"
Hiei nodded. "You should be inside, you know."
"And you should be following me at all times, you know." Jenni grinned as Hiei growled slightly. Suddenly, Jenni found herself being held bridal style as Hiei flitted back to the temple.
Hiei set her down and went inside, keeping the door open for her. Jenni followed him and Hiei led Jenni to her room. Before she could protest, Hiei had opened the door, shoved her inside, and shut it again. "I'll wait until you change to come in." Hiei's voice floated through the door.
Jenni changed and called, "You can come in now, Hiei." Hiei walked over the corner once again and settled down for the night. Jenni placed a kudaichi (Like the things Aoshi from RK uses, which I do not own, very sadly.) on her bedside table and fell into a restless sleep.
~ Dream sequence ~
Jenni was looking down upon the scene. It was exactly the same as her first picture, except she could feel the heat, see the flames moving, and hear the foxes yelps. She wanted to help, but she was paralyzed. The two bigger foxes were able to make a small opening, just big enough for the kit to slip through.
Kit (We'll just call the fox kit "Kit" for now) stayed outside the range of the fire and was trying to get to her parents. The fire demon, which Jenni recognized as Hiei, jumped down, grabbed Kit, and jumped away. Kit yelped, tried jumping out of his arms, but Hiei tightened his grip on her.
Jenni followed them, but not by choice. She saw Kit transform into a figure that looked almost exactly like her, except with two black fox ears and a black tail. She tried getting away, yet again, but Hiei grabbed her wrist. Hiei pulled Kit to him and kissed her.
~ End dream sequence ~
Jenni woke with a small scream. Hiei was standing in an instant with his katana out and his jagan glowing. When he was sure there was no danger, his jagan closed and he sheathed his sword.
"What happened?" Hiei asked, sitting on the bed next to Jenni. Jenni shook her head, pulled her legs up to her chest, and buried her head in them. Hiei lifted her chin and asked again. "What happened?"
Jenni looked hesitant, but told him about the dream. "I didn't know what was happening, Hiei. I'm so confused!" Jenni buried her head in Hiei chest and her stroked her hair lightly.
"You need to get some sleep," Hiei said after a few minutes. Jenni nodded slightly and settled down. Hiei stayed on the end of the bed. Jenni fell asleep minutes later.
~ The next morning ~
Botan practically bounced into Jenni's room the next morning. "Good morning, Jenni! Time to get up."
Jenni groaned. "Botan, could you not be so perky and overly-happy at...7 in the morning?"
Botan smiled and said, "Nope. But you have no training today. We're going to the mall to get you some new clothes!"
Jenni's shoulders slumped. "Do I haveta go, Botan? I could stay here and practice sword skills, or something."
"You are coming with us and there is no changing that," Botan said, still happy. "You have half an hour before we go!"
Jenni got up and dressed in loose black pants and a black tank top. She pulled her hair into a topknot and went into the living room to get some breakfast.
"Morning, Jenni," Kurama said, handing her a plate.
"Morning, everyone," Jenni said with a yawn. "So, how many of you are going?"
"so far, everyone except Hiei. We can't find him," Yusuke said, looking rather grumpy.
"I know where to find him. Should I g get him?" Jenni asked. Kurama nodded, and Jenni ran outside as fast as she could. She found Hiei in a tree; the same one as yesterday.
"Hey, Hiei!" Jenni yelled, starting to climb the tree. She made it about halfway up before Hiei appeared on the branch she was on.
"What do you want?" Hiei asked. Jenni looked at him, smiled sadly, and looked away.
"Botan's forcing me to go to the mall. You could come with me. I'm not telling you, however. I'm asking a favor of you." Jenni looked away and waited.
"Alright. But only this once." Hiei picked Jenni up and flitted back to the temple.
"Yay! Hey, buys! I got Hiei to come!!" Jenni said happily as she entered. Everyone looked amazed.
"You got ~Hiei~ to come??" Yusuke asked, still shocked.
"Yep. So, I suppose we should go and get this over with. Come on," Jenni said, sighing.
Everyone got into a van; Kurama, Botan, and Yukina in front, Jenni and Hiei in the middle, and Yusuke, Keiko, and Kuwabara in the back.
~30 minutes later...~
They had arrived at the mall and Botan and Keiko had dragged Jenni away to get clothes. They bought a few kimonos for her, and other clothes. Jenni got dark clothes that were loose, for training.
After that, Yusuke decided to have a bit of fun. He pushed Jenni into a fountain and couldn't help but laugh when she came up. Her hair was sticking to her back and her clothes were as well. Yusuke's death was written all over Jenni's and Hiei's faces.
Botan and Keiko dragged Jenni away to change her into something dry.
When they came back, Jenni was in a black miniskirt and a dark red spaghetti strap shirt that had "Don't mess with me" written in black, dripping letters. Her hair was down and it shone in the light.
Yusuke whistled, while Hiei, Kurama, and Kuwabara stared at her.
"Hiei, how in the 7 hells did I let Botan and Keiko make me wear this??" Jenni asked, rather peeved.
"Who knows?" Hiei asked right back. Jenni growled slightly, but stopped when she saw and ice cream place.
She went over and got and ice cream, followed by everyone else.
"Mmmm, Neapolitan," Jenni said, licking the chocolate part. She got a bit on her nose and blinked. "Hiei, can you hand me a napkin?"
Instead, Hiei wiped off the bit of ice cream his finger. Jenni blushed slightly as his finger ran over her cheek instead.
They were rudely interrupted by Botan popping up and saying, "Time to go~!"
As they were going to get in the car, they found that they had so many clothes that not all of the people would fit in the car.
"Hiei, can you take Jenni home?" Kurama asked innocently. Hiei nodded, picked Jenni up, and disappeared.
Hiei and Jenni arrived long before everyone else. Hiei arrived in Jenni's room and set her down on the bed.
"Hiei, what--?" Jenni was cut off by Hiei kissing her. After a moment, she responded to the kiss. Hiei licked her bottom lip and she complied by (A/N: I think I'll let your imagination go from here for the last few words. I can't write this stuff for shit!)
Hiei broke the kiss after a minute. They were both gasping for breath. "I love you, Jenni."
"I love you too, Hiei." Right after she said that, Botan entered the room. "DAMNIT BOTAN!! HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF KNOCKING?!?!"
"Well, I'm here to tell you that the rest of us are going to play a game. Truth or dare to be exact," Botan said happily.
"Alright." Jenni and Hiei got up and exited after Botan. Everyone was in the living room. They looked up as Hiei and Jenni entered, then grinned at each other.
"Who's going first?" Jenni asked logically.
"How about Kurama?" Botan suggested.
"Alright. Hiei, truth or dare?" Kurama asked, getting a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Dare, baka kitsune."
Kurama smiled evilly. "I dare you to kiss Jenni."
Jenni and Hiei both death-glared Kurama, then kissed. Jenni was blushing slightly.
"Kuwabaka, truth or dare?" Hiei asked.
"Dare. I, Kazuma Kuwabara, am no coward," Kuwabara said.
"I dare you to do the chicken dance for three minutes with a suit and music." Hiei smirked, as did Jenni.
"What?!?! Am I going to be forced to do that or something??"
"Yes."
"Fine." Kuwabara stomped off. Jenni turned on the music and sat next to Hiei to watch the show.
Three minutes later, everyone was howling with laughter. Kuwabara went into the other room and changed back into his normal clothes and came back in.
"Urameshi, truth or dare?"
"Truth. I don't feel like doing anything right now," Yusuke said.
Jenni coughed and it sounded a lot like "Lazy."
"What are your feelings for Keiko?" Kuwabara asked.
"I like her. Jenni, truth or dare?" Yusuke asked, unabashed.
"Dare." The moment she said this, Jenni knew she was in trouble.
"I dare you to go in the closet with Hiei for 7 minutes." Yusuke and the others were smiling evilly.
"WHAT?!?!" Jenni and Hiei yelped at the same time.
Kurama pushed Hiei in while Botan pushed Jenni in. They closed and locked the door from the outside, also holding the only key.
"Yusuke! Let me out, you bastard!" Jenni yelled, fuming.
"Not until 7 minutes is up!" Yusuke's voice was slightly muffled.
"Damn you!!!!" Hiei chuckled lightly at Jenni's outburst.
"Am I really that bad to be with?"
"Huh? Oh, no. I just don't like being in the closet. That's all," Jenni said.
"I see," Hiei said, closing the distance between them.
"Hiei?"
"Hmm?"
"How do demons mark their mates?" Jenni asked, not knowing what Hiei was planning.
"Like this," Hiei said. He bit down on the junction between neck and shoulder. Jenni gasped, but Hiei stroked her cheek and she calmed down.
"Hey, guys! 7 minutes is up!" Yusuke yelled, unlocking the door. Hiei got up and helped Jenni up.
They walked out and Jenni managed to hide her neck. Kurama smiled knowingly and Jenni glared at him.
"Alright. Kurama, truth or dare?" Jenni asked, grinning evilly.
"Dare."
"I dare you to put on a kimono, prance around, and throw confetti."
"I. Will. Not." Jenni had hit his pride.
"Well, you have 30 seconds to decide. If you still say no, then we will catch it all on tape," Jenni said.
"Fine." Kurama stomped off to return in an orange kimono. He "pranced" around, throwing confetti and glaring at Jenni the whole time.
Everyone fell over laughing, except Hiei, and Kurama stormed off as fast as the kimono would allow.
When he came back in, Kurama had an evil smile on his face. "Hiei, truth or dare?"
"Truth, fox."
"What, exactly, did you and Jenni do in the closet?"
Hiei and Jenni froze. They both glared at Kurama and said simultaneously, "No was in Hell, fox."
