~*~ Chapter 7: Uh oh, that was the last straw.....~*~
When Jenni woke up, she found that she was rather tired. 'Must be an after affect of using all that spirit energy, and I'm not used to that. Besides that, I only got a few hours of sleep last night,' Jenni thought to herself.
She got up, did her morning routine, and went to see if anyone was up. She found that Hiei, Kurama, and Yukina were all up, but Genkai was nowhere in sight.
"Anyone know where Genkai is?" Jenni asked, yawning slightly and rubbing her eyes.
"Nope," Kurama said, smiling slightly. "She said something about going to meditate and "get away from all these dimwits,"" Kurama quoted. Jenni laughed a little bit.
"Yep, that's Genkai for ya," Jenni muttered as she sat down to eat breakfast. Suddenly, she felt something tug at her mind. Her eyes widened and she tried to act normal, but she couldn't focus on anything, do to the voice in her head whispering, "Come to us, we can end all the pain, come...."
Finally, after enduring a few minutes of this, Jenni clutched her head in her hands and blocked out all sound completely, whimpering slightly. The pain was too much for her to handle, the gentle tug becoming harsh and painful, like some of her worst memories. (Speaking of memories.....)
Jenni was pulled into her head and was forced to watch some of her more painful memories, playing themselves over and over in her head. The time that Andrew had hit her over the head with a crowbar and had knocked her unconscious...... When she was forced to go to the courts, before her father took her here, to Japan........ The time that she nearly drowned in the pool and no one ever even knew..... And, finally, the time that she had left. Her friends all thought that she was abandoning them and they left her first. Jenni had been dragged onto her father's private plane, kicking, screaming, and biting anything, in a blind rage, and had then been knocked unconscious be her father herself.
Outside, Kurama and Hiei were desperately trying to wake Jenni, fearing for her life and her sanity. Her energy was slowly starting to drain away as she screamed, a look of fear, horror, and anger on her face. Finally, she woke, but she wasn't... right, for lack of better word. She looked around her like a wild, cornered animal, spotted a window, and dashed for it.
'Her demon instincts are taking over,' Kurama thought as he ran to try to get Jenni. She evaded his grasp and ran to the window, throwing it open and climbing out, only to come face-to-face with Hiei.
Jenni shoved past Hiei, heading for the forest. She ran into the trees, where she felt safest, put up a protective ring of fire around her, careful not to burn the trees, and cried. She sat and cried, not paying attention to the outside world at all, still lost in her own mind.
Hiei, who had just opened his Jagan and gotten into her head, saw that and sighed. 'That's not good.....It's hard for a person to get lost in their own head, and when they do, they usually don't come out alive,' Hiei thought as he raced around, trying to find Jenni. When he found her, he saw that she was mentally strapped in place in front of a screen that was showing parts of her past...her memories...her worst fear. 'She's afraid of her own memories?! Why?' One look at the screen showed Hiei his answer.
Jenni thought she felt someone's arms go around her, but she wasn't sure in her own fear and pain. Then she heard Hiei whisper, "It's alright. Come on, let's get out of here." She nodded and tried to stand, but failed. Then she heard it. The laughter that always sent shivers down her spine and made her fear increase. Andrew's laughter.
"I see that you now realize, my sister, how dangerous I can be, ne?" He taunted, looking highly amused. "I forcefully entered your mind, I made you weak, and now I will make you kill the ones you love."
"Not while I'm around, idiot!" Hiei yelled, brining his sword down where Jenni's "brother" had been. Andrew moved even faster than Hiei and smashed him in the back with the hilt of scythe.
'Wait a moment! This is MY head, right? Then I should be able to do this...' Jenni thought, focusing on making herself be able to move. She slowly got up and aimed right at Andrew's head. She threw one of her daggers, but Andrew blocked it and sent it back at her.
Jenni put her hand up and caught the weapon by the blade, making her hand bleed a bit. "Get. The. H*ll. Out. Of. My. Head....NOW!" Jenni screamed as she advanced on Andrew, forcing him back. He whirled and was gone.
Jenni, exhausted by the effort she put into getting her brother out of her head, fell to the ground, panting. Hiei picked her up and exited her mind, unknowingly holding Jenni in the real world. When the two opened their eyes, they found that Hiei was, indeed, carrying Jenni to the temple. Jenni's hand bled freely. Hiei ran to the temple and Yukina healed Jenni's hand, going back inside to tell Kurama that they were back.
"Well, looks like I did make a mark," Andrew said as he appeared out of nowhere next to the two startled demons.
"What do you mean?!" Jenni asked, glaring at him.
"I mean, look at your neck," was all that Andrew said before pain exploded in Jenni's head. She clutched her head in her hands, going into a fetal position. The pain in her head grew worse, and Jenni screamed in agony.
Andrew laughed as he drew his sword and brought a cat out of nowhere. The cat meowed and Jenni looked up.
"TAS!!" She cried, looking at her cat. He had a few wounds, but, just the, Andrew ran his sword through Tas. "NOOOOOOOO!! YOU! YOU KILLED HIM! I'LL KILL YOU!!" Jenni screamed before a dark blue mist surrounded her. When the mist cleared, the person they saw was DEFINITELY not Jenni.
This person had long, black hair that was down to her thighs, a black tail, and two black fox ears. She was wearing a red tank top and black pants with red flames starting at the bottom and climbing up the side of the leg. She also had a katana and a kudaichi on her belt.
"Hello," the new girl said. "I see that you do not recognize me. I am Jenni's demon side, Kurai Kitsune," Kurai said, smiling evilly and showing fangs.
For some reason, Andrew thought that this was NOT good and this was NOT the desired result. He knew that his sister was strong, and her demon side even stronger, but he did not know how strong. He knew, also, that he would have a chance at beating her human side, not her demon. All he had to do was keep her in that form as long as possible and she would loose energy as time went y. Soon, she would be too weak to hold herself in that body anymore and then he would win.
"I know what you are planning, idiot. It does not cost my Hikari and strength to hold this form, for I am a part of her. So, are you ready to die, scum?" Kurai asked, getting into a fighting stance with her hand right above her sword hilt.
"Ha! Like I'd lose to a demon who barely knows how to control her powers!" Andrew said, acting more confident than he felt. He got into his own stance, his scythe in his hand.
"Last person alive wins," Kurai said with a dark smile as she charged her opponent.
