Hector walked aimlessly around the streets of Troy. Paris had disappeared again. The boy's habit to do that had gotten annoying. They would be late again.

"Paris!" A group of children came running from a corner and he followed them with his eyes. Suddenly he was tackled from behind. With a quick movement he reversed their positions, and Hector had his attacker pinned down. His little brother looked up at him smiling sheepishly.

"Surprise?" Hector, despite himself, returned the smile. He stood up and offered a hand to Paris. "We should hurry", he said once he was up. "Father is waiting". Hector resisted the urge to hit him.

The two princes made their way to the palace, that night would be the last party before Hector departed to Sparta, in hopes of establishing enduring peace between the two nations.

"Brother, I have made a decision", said Paris as they walked, sounding serious.

"Have you finally decided to pick a wife?" asked Hector, not really paying attention. Paris let out a chuckle.

"Of course not, I like things as they are"

"Go figure" the elder sighed. Paris would never choose to elope. He liked polygamy too much.

After a couple of minutes Paris spoke again. "I have decided to accompany you to Sparta". Hector kept walking, unaffected by his brother's words. "You're not coming" It took him a couple steps to realize that Paris was no longer walking beside him. He turned around. "We agreed you'd stay", he said, facing Paris. "But I'm a prince of Troy, too!" he complained. "And as prince you're supposed to do what's best for your people. You are staying to fulfill the prince's duties while I'm gone" "...then I go, and you stay"

Hector rolled his eyes. His brother knew nothing of politics. Actually, he knew nothing of most things. "No" he said simply.

"But..." Paris looked up at him with pleading eyes. The young prince had been spoiled all his life; things always went the way he wanted them to.

"Why is it that this trip holds so much interest for you, Paris?"

Paris shifted under his brother's gaze. "I wish to learn..." It was Hector's turn to chuckle. "Fine, fine", Paris looked up. "I've heard rumors, about Sparta's king..."

"You mean, about the king's wife..."
