Title: She Knew
Description: Set post 6th season. Piper realizes that (future) Chris's death might be the very thing that has made her want to work things out with Leo.
A/N: This fanfic is just a story to give a person warm and fuzzy feelings. I started writing this a few days after the Charmed season finale. I thought that this would a sweet fanfic. Read and review please.
Piper awoke to the shrill cries of baby Chris. The baby monitor was next to her even though the nursery was not far away. She sat up to tend to h4e son's needs, but she heard the melodic sounds of a whitelighter's orbs. The crying grew softer as a light lullaby from Leo sounded. Piper smiled a little as she lowered herself back onto the bed.
"It's alright, Chris," Leo said softly, "Daddy's here. Daddy will always be here for you."
Piper felt her heart grow light in her chest. She looked over to the clock. It was one o'clock in the morning. She heard the door to Chris's room creak open. Piper closed her eyes, not wanting Leo to know that she had been eves- dropping on him. She pulled the covers a little closer to her chin, and footfalls sounded at the door.
"Shh," Leo whispered to the whimpering baby, "Mommy's asleep. She needs to rest."
Piper heard his footsteps move across the room. The door squeaked when it opened and then again as it closed. She sat up again and put her feet on the ground. She grabbed her robe from off of the hook on the door. She slipped it on over her loose night shirt and tied the sash after closing it. She followed Leo downstairs without a word or a sound. Leo entered the kitchen and flicked the light on. Piper watched from the conservatory.
Leo, like an expert, held the baby, a bottle, and the can of baby formula for Chris. He set Chris down in the bouncer that was set on the table for occasions exactly like this, and he started preparing the baby's meal. Piper's smile remained on her face. She knew that the death of future Chris caused a change in Leo. He didn't favor Wyatt over Chris. He treated them as equally as he possibly could. She remained ever so silent, not wanting to disturb a thing.
Leo was heating the formula on a low setting. He really knew how to take care of babies. He was probably even better at it than she did. She didn't mind, though. She knew she was a good mother, and Leo was the best father her children could possibly have.
Leo turned around and spotted Piper in the doorway. At first he looked as if he could scold her for not being in bed, but his expression softened. He just gave her a little dirty look. "You should be a sleep," he said.
"Chris woke me up," Piper replied with a little raise of her brow, "I just came down to see you."
Leo beamed with a smile and walked over to her. He kissed her softly on the forehead. Piper's heart fluttered as he did this, and she looked up to him through her lashes. She felt goosebumps form on her arms. The kind of goosebumps she always used to get when Leo kissed her.
"I thought you might have wanted your peace," Leo said with a little shrug. He stepped back from her a bit.
"I think somehow I'll manage with a little bit of lost sleep." She smiled warmly up at Leo. Someway she knew that their future had changed by Chris' death. The death of their future son brought them closer together as if they wanted to prevent it somehow. She knew she wanted to be with Leo again, and she knew she would be. She knew it.
A/N: I know this is short, but it wasn't meant to be very long anyway. Just review if you want to.
