"Beep beep," Ben said as the old Cadillac sped down the long empty
highway. Beverly turned to look at him. Ben looked at her and smiled.
"What?" Beverly asked. Ben turned his eyes back towards the road.
"I'm not really sure," he said, the grin fading from his face. "But it means something, I think. Does it sound familiar to you?"
"Well yeah," Beverly stated, "its the noise a car makes..."
"No, like something we used to say to someone. I don't really understand it either. It feels like there's something I should remember. Like its right there in my mind...but I just can't remember it."
She thinks I'm crazy Ben thought. I should probably just leave it alone. What he didn't know was that Beverly was sitting next to him, now deep in thought. It did sound familiar to her. Something in her mind seemed to be yelling, screaming the answer to her thoughts at her. But still something held it back, so she could barely hear it. It was only a whisper.
What was his name? She thought to herself. That kid we used to play with...the one with glasses. Hard as she could, she could think of nothing. So she turned her attention back to the scenery that passed by, as the last memories of Richie Tozier faded slowly from both their minds.
