Author's note!
Hello, readers! This is the fourth chapter of The Demon Hidden Within!
SesshouMaru: No, really?
Shut up. Anywho's... I'm so happy I got your reviews, but I have something to clear up: I am not Emily! I said in the first chapter that she's my friend. So it's not me in the story, on SesshouMaru's back... being kidnapped by him... being held by him... Ack! Haha, maybe it should have been. ^.^; But, alas, it IS Emily, and not me. I'm glad I cleared that up.
SesshouMaru: So am I.
grr... on with the disclaimer!
SesshouMaru: InuYasha does not belong to RevolutionaryKnight, but to Her Holiness Rumiko Takahashi.

Emily soon had her head layed down on SesshouMaru's shoulder. They had been traveling for four hours now, with no resting breaks. She wasn't even the one carrying someone else and she was exhasted. She raised her tired eyes to look at her slightly new surroundings.
They were still in the forest, but occasionally they came upon a clearing. The forest's features didn't change very often; greenery was everywhere. Emily had always been one to like nature, but now that she couldn't explore while traveling, she was beginning to tire of it very quickly. She sighed and looked straight ahead.
SesshouMaru kept on walking. "Are you tired, human?"
Emily growled. "It's Emily! I told you before!"
SesshouMaru continued. "Well, are you?"
Emily paused, glaring at the back of his head. Finally she spat, "Yes." SesshouMaru didn't say anything but kept walking, which made Emily angry. Why did he ask her if she was tired and didn't even give her answer any consideration!? She was really beginning to think that this "demon lord" was a real jerk.
Suddenly she took into focus that they were wandering off their almost straight course through the forest. She lifted her head and examined her new surroundings.
They were nearing a stream; she heard the water trickling over some rocks. SesshouMaru pushed past some bushes and they came instantly into view of the stream. SesshouMaru stopped and let her down.
Emily now felt somewhat silly for hating SesshouMaru and for thinking that he was an inconsiderate jerk. She glanced over her shoulder and saw he was watching her. She froze. He turned away and sat in the facing the opposite direction. She blushed and silently thanked him for not watching her. She didn't like people (especially men) staring at her when she did things. Like swim half naked in a stream.
Emily stepped in the stream and rinsed her hair. She came up, sighed, and leaned against the slightly upraised walls of the stream edge. She rested her head on her crossed arms. "So, SesshouMaru, where are we going?"
SesshouMaru said nothing for a moment, than replied. "To the Western Lands."
"The Western Lands?"
"...my home."
"Ah." Emily realized this conversation was going nowhere. She let out a burst of air, almost a sigh. She then closed her eyes. "Why did you kidnap me?"She peeked open an eye to watch his reaction.
This made SesshouMaru turn and face her. Emily opened both eyes fully now, suprised. He did not look friendly. "Let us return on our journey." He then, without warning, picked her up again on his back and continued on to their original path.
Emily thought as she lay down her head on his shoulder once more. 'I wonder what it was I said...' She looked forward and realized they were heading for a large clearing. She averted her eyes to the sky and also realized it was getting to be dark. "Um...Lord SesshouMaru?"
"Yes, Emily?"
"Are we going to camp somewhere or what?"
"...you are sufficiently rested. You may sleep on my back if you become tired throughout the night."
"That's what I was afraid of." Emily mumbled. She sighed and closed her eyes and prepared herself for a dreamless sleep.
