Emily awoke early into her sleep by a sharp jolt. She snapped up her head quickly, still half asleep. "Hn?"

SesshouMaru had stopped. He was standing on the edge of the forest. Emily could see the sillohette of a small village. It was dark, so the village was quiet, so the majority of the villagers were probably already asleep. From what she could see, it looked very peaceful.

SesshouMaru released her from his grip and set her down gently. He began to walk away back through the forest. Emily was confused. She looked at him, then back at the village. She turned quickly and ran back to find SesshouMaru. He was nowhere in sight. She looked frantically around, but to no avail. She was beginning to get upset, but then she remembered what Sango had once said.

'You are somehow part demon. I don't understand it fully, but I suppose it is very possible that the demons from our time could've survived that long. But I do understand that, as a part demon, you have certain... abilities. Like, for example, you could sense some things before they happen, right? It's very subtle, but maybe now that you're in our time, where magic occurs frequently, you're abilities can be upped somehow.'

Emily thought about this. Maybe she could sense if SesshouMaru was still anywhere near. She didn't know how it worked, exactly, but she closed her eyes and concentrated on a vision of SesshouMaru. She also tried to recall his scent. She was about to give up but then she felt a kind of feeling that she hadn't before. It was leading her... she opened her eyes and looked around. It was leading her... forward.

She followed the feeling, even though she had no idea where it was leading her. She lost the feeling once, but then she concentrated again and within a few minutes it returned. She turned several times and sometimes she was quite aware she was heading back to where she started, but at the last possible moment, the feeling would lead her to a different direction. She was becoming frustrated. She finally got tired of following the feeling and stopped. The feeling was still there, but it was wearing down now. She was in the middle of the forest now, and, unable to find her way out within the night alone, she decided to fall asleep under the protection of some bushes.

She fell asleep quickly. Her mind wandered through several vague dreams; none she could remember. She woke up later that night. Judging from the height of the moon, it was nearing midnight. Emily had her mouth open wide in a huge yawn, but presently she stopped in the middle of it, sensing an unfriendly presence. She twitched, turning around. She gasped at what she saw, her heart wrenched in fear.
