Author's note!
Hey, guys! It's been a while, huh?! Well, I'm sorry, but I've been busy...
SesshouMaru: Mm-hmm... You liar. It took you this long to get out of those ropes I had you tied up in. Feh, you're just weak...
I am not!! I've really been busy!!
SesshouMaru: Sure. And I'm human.
Dare I call upon the flying kiwi monkeys?
SesshouMaru: O.o Uh... Inuyasha does not belong RevolutionaryKnight, but Her Holiness Rumiko Takahashi.
Thank you.
Emily was frozen stiff in her spot upon the ground. The flaming eyes that glared down upon her were non-blinking and cruel beyond anything she'd seen before. She instinctively scooted backward, but she froze again when the creature snarled. She whimpered. 'I-I'm d-done for!'
She was aware of a huge paw, like a dog's, step forward into a patch of light stretching from the canopy of the forest, but she just began to cry and shake. She couldn't move... she squeezed her eyes shut in preperation of the pain that accompanied death. When nothing came, and the snarling came to a sudden stop, she peeked open an eye, then both widened in suprise.
SesshouMaru had the great demonic hound by its neck. He had the struggling demon raised in the air and stretched his arm away from himself. He was looking at Emily, however, with disdain. "You call yourself a demon?"
Emily was still shaking. SesshouMaru looked expresstionless, but his voice was as cruel as the hound's had been earlier. "You are as weak as my hanyou brother. You are pathetic." He now glanced at the demon in his hand, who was still struggling. His brows slightly furrowed. With a sudden jerk of his hand, the hound's neck twisted backwards and Emily heard it break. She grimaced at the sound.
SesshouMaru now stepped toward her. Emily jumped and scooted backwards again. She was truly scared of him now. Her neck was no less fragile than that of the demon's he had broken moments ago.
Sesshoumaru stopped. He looked down at her, still no expression. "I could kill you now if I so pleased, right now." Emily was looking up at him in horror. She was amazed when he gave a small smile. She had never seen him do so before. "But I will not. You are too weak to even defend yourself if I tried." He paused, his smile now gone. He reached out his hand to the girl. "Come. I will teach you to exploit your powers."
Emily wasn't shivering as much now. "B-but... what are you talking about? What powers?"
"Are you not aware of your demonic heritage?"
Emily shook her head. "Just that Kag-chan and the others can sense something in me. They thought it was a demon, but I have no particular ways that are different from any other humans...and none that are similar to any demons..."
"I thought so, too, at first. But then... then you used your ability to sense where I was. I knew then that you were more than you appeared to be."
Emily jumped up. "So it was a test!?" Her fist was clenched and a vein appeared on her forehead.
"You passed," he said, nonchalant. Emily growled, but then sighed. She jumped when SesshouMaru reached out his hand again. This time she looked him in the eye and slit her eyes slightly, trying to exploit her demonic powers by reading his mind. "Not that advanced yet, girl." She was taken aback in suprise.
"B-But how...?"
He ignored her sputtering and reached out his hand again. She put her hand in his and he swung her around on his back once more. She put her legs around his waist and arms around his neck. Her head was already on his shoulder and her eyes closed when she heard his vague whisper of "Sleep, Emily."
He didn't have to tell her twice.
