Chapter 3: Octavia's Champion
Location: Ars Goetia Palace, Pride Ring
Place: Ball Room
Time: 2000
Ten-year-old Naruto sighed in annoyance as he waited for Octavia to come down from her room, for her 10th birthday celebration. Being the best friend of Octavia Ars Goetia had the unintended side effect of Naruto being privy to several Ars Goetia celebrations and rituals. that Appears, it was an 'Honor to be in the good favor of Ars Goetia Demons. Considering how often they held celebrations such as these, it was a wonder they weren't strapped for cash.
Over the last three years, Naruto and Octavia had become very close. Almost to the point where if you were looking for one the other was not far away. Millie and Moxxie had also taken up Job offers in the Ars Goetia-controlled sections of Imp city away from the Overlords. They had even managed to get a slightly better apartment at reduced rates At the incentive of Lord Stolas himself.
Speaking of Stolas he seemed to almost seem to be trying to play matchmaker between Octavia and Naruto. He had even told Naruto to call him Stolas and drop the Lord part of his name. He even had Naruto over at the manor several times a week, much to the anger of Stella and her harpy friends. Seriously the lady had Harpy's for girlfriends.
Speaking of the Pigeon bitch. Oh that's right. A little over a month after Naruto and Octavia had become friends Naruto had changed Stella's nickname from Old Crow to Pigeon-Bitch. A name Octavia and Stolas found hilarious to no ends.
"Well if it isn't my daughter's Plebeian friend," said Stella coming over with a glass of wine in her hand. "At least you know how to dress for the proper occasion,"
Naruto wore a white button-up shirt, black pants, a tie, and an orange evening coat. He also had a red oak cane. A present from Millie for his 10th birthday that had a few tricks in it.
She was dressed to the nines tonight to impress everyone. Same with Naruto, Millie, and Moxxie. Both were currently speaking with Prince Stolas, A few Overlords and their entourages who had been invited, and the Ars Goetia clan that Stella was from.
"You yourself dressed quite lovely tonight Pigeon-bitch," said Naruto making her narrow her eyes as he gave a slight bow to her. (1)
"I still don't understand why Stolas allows you to disrespect me as you do," said Stella.
"And I can't understand How stolas haven't kicked your abusive ass to the curve," said Naruto as he picked up a glass of some sweet-smelling drink that was meant for kids.
Over the last 3 years Stolas had made it clear to Stella that Naruto and Octavia were not to be harmed or attacked by her in any way shape or form. If she did ANYTHING to those two children or Millie and Moxxie for that matter he would banish her to the coldest loneliest depths of hell, with the backing of Lucifer himself. So she kept it to verbal sparing with the boy, while Naruto would often Prank her and her friends. The only problem was that Stella had no proof and any time she brought it up Naruto had an alibi in the form of her child, guards, and servants.
"Introducing the Lady Octavia Ars Goetia," said a Servant
Every eye turned to the stairs where Octavia was. She was walking down the stairs in a dark blue shoulderless evening dress, her feather hair had been pruned and tended to, making them slightly shiny in the light. She also had a light bit of makeup around her cheeks and eyes. It didn't do much to hide the blush on her face, but it made her look even cuter than she already was. Naruto looked at Octavia with his jaw dropped at the angel that was his friend. Stella saw this and an idea came to her at that moment.
"Stare all you want boy, but you won't ever have a chance to have her," thought Stella.
Naruto walked up to Octavia and put a hand on the back of his head. "Hey, Tavia. You look really pretty tonight," said the blushing blond.
Octavia blushed at the praise from her cru-best friend! Best friend, who she happened to like- like a brother. Yeah. That was it. He was just a boy who was like a brother to her. Not a romanti- DAMNIT! Naruto was just a friend. That's it. Not a cru- FUCK!
"Thank you Ruto. You clean up nice as well," said Octavia before she grabbed his tie and straightened it slightly.
Not far away Stolas looked at the duo and had to reframe from gushing alongside Millie who happened to be his soul sister. Stolas never would have believed that he could find a woman from Wrath so entertaining. The duo even had a running bet going on who would ask who out first and when. Millie said when they were 15 and it would be Octavia who asked. While Stolas thought 17 and Naruto would ask. Even Moxxie was in on the bet. He said 20 and it would just be a spur-of-the-moment thing.
"Oh look!" squalled Millie as Naruto was lead to the dance floor by Octavia.
One of the things that Stolas had impressed upon the Imps and their adopted son was the importance of learning how to properly dance. Three hours a day, twice a week for a year saw Naruto and Octavia as quite spirited partners. Octavia had a Love for Salsa dancing, while Naruto had found a passion for capoeira and Kembu. Today however this particular dance was a Waltz. Both partners in sync and playing off each other. Octavia's budding grace and Naruto growing strength are equal measures and easy to see in the young couple. Other couples joined in, even Stolas and Stella, despite their apparent dislike for each other.
Once the song ended everyone broke off to speak and talk with others. Octavia and Naruto found themselves near a wall close to the open balcony. As they were going out to enjoy the evening Stella came to them with a Harpy female and a harpy male. The female was one of Stella's friends -Coughcronniescough-, while the boy looked like her around the eyes, but he had Falconish wings. He was slightly older than them at maybe 15 or 16. He was handsome and a threat.
"Octavia, Naruto, you remember my old friend Karen," said Stella.
"Hello little ones," said the now-named Karen with a smile.
"Charmed," said Octavia curtsying, while Naruto took her hand and brushed her talon with his lips.
"This is her son. Chad. He's training to join the Ars Military. With the backing of our family, he'll be an officer before you know it," said Stella.
Naruto narrowed his eyes. "What is Pigeon-bitch up to?"
"What does that have to anything," asked Octavia raising a single eyebrow.
"Well I was thinking that the two of you would look lovely together and Karen agreed," said Stella.
"Oh yes, once I go home, I'll be sending Prince Stolas an Official letter of Courtship for My son and Octavia. Their wedding would be a boon to the Ars Goetia Families," said Karen clapping her talons together.
Naruto felt hell come to a crashing halt. "No way in all of the seven rings would I let some douche-canoe near her!" growled Naruto trying to keep his dread Aura under control.
Karen glared at Naruto. "How dare you talk about my little fallen Angel like that you plebian!" yelled Karen.
"Why the hell do all you Karen's keep calling me that!? At least use the word papur. Easier to understand for people reading," said Naruto spinning his cane.
"Bro it's all good. I'll take good care of her," said Ken in slight embarrassment. "While I do find Octavia Pretty, she's not my type,"
"Okay I retract what I said about you being a douche-canoe," said Naruto
"It's not what I want!" yelled Octavia.
"Oh, perish the thought of what you want dear. The Greater Ars Goetia Clan is at stake. You are of Minority Age now. By the laws of Ars Goetia law, you can officially be courted by interested parties so long as they bring something to the table of the families," said Stella.
Octavia narrowed her eyes. "Also, by Ars Goetia Law I can name a champion of my choosing to battle in my stand any and all suitors," said Octavia.
"Oh please! Child that law hasn't been used in nearly four centuries. Besides whom would champion a child like you with no sex appeal?" asked Karen.
Karen and Stella both laughed while Octavia flushed in rage. She balled up her fists and light could be seen flicking on and off in her hand. While Octavia would never admit it outright one thing, she did inherit from her mother was her low tolerance for insults. That low tolerance also came with a healthy dose of violence.
"I'll be her champion," said Naruto, making both women shut up.
"You will!" asked Stella and Karen in rage.
"You will!?" asked Octavia in shock.
"I will," said Naruto as he twisted the top of his cane and drew 22 inches of naked steel. "And I'll kill anyone who makes Octavia cry,"
Octavia blushed at Naruto's actions and pledge. It was just like the knights and heroes in her story books. Only the heroes didn't pledge to kill on their lady's tears.
"While that is a noble endeavor," said Stolas as he walked up with Millie and Moxxie flanking him. "Until I receive the official Letter of Courtship then there is no need for you to champion Octavia Naruto,"
"Oh my son, is such a Manly man!" gushed Millie.
Naruto blushed "Mom!" whined Naruto.
Moxxie walked over to his son and patted his shoulder. "Let it go Naruto. You know how Millie gets," said Moxxie.
Naruto nodded to his dad. While it did take a while for Naruto to warm up to the idea of Moxxie as his dad, he did eventually come around to the idea after about 6 months of living with the duo. In fact, Moxxie had helped Naruto learn to be a good shooter.
"My lord," stated Ken. "While I do think that Octavia is a lovely girl, I don't think that a courtship is necessary,"
"That's understandable. Why don't you three go and get antiquated? Will talk later," said Stolas as he glared at Karen and Stella.
The trio of Naruto, Ken, and Octavia left the area and found themselves alone in a hallway.
"So you two sorry about my mum and Aunt Stella.," said Ken.
"It's alright. Mom can be such a bitch sometimes," said Octavia.
Ken nodded. "Listen mate," said Ken as he turned to Naruto. "I have no claim on this bird here. If it's all the same to you, I actually like living. She's all yours. Besides, I already have a bird of my own,"
"Octavia is not my 'bird'" growled Naruto.
Ken snorted. "You two lovebirds could have fooled me," said Ken walking away. "Maybe when your older you and I can have a pint,"
"We're not Lovebirds!" yelled Naruto and Octavia, before they both blushed and looked away from each other. (2)
Octavia looked back at Naruto, before kissing him on the cheek and hugging him. "Thanks for standing up for me Ruto," said Octavia
Naruto smiled at her. "Anytime Tavia," said Naruto
Unbeknownst to the two several pictures were being snapped of them by a giddy Millie and Stolas.

And Cut. I hope you guys enjoyed this. Now I will say this much for the flow of the story. Octavia is probably going to get a few more chapters on the other girls. Mostly because I'm having too much fun with the Octavia/Naruto play-by-play at the moment.
