Sammy watched Manny run out of the cafeteria. "I'll be right back," Sammy whispered to Craig. Craig nodded and watched her walk out.
Sammy found Manny crying in the washroom. She stood outside one of the stalls and listened to her.
"Who's there?" Manny asked.
"Sammy," she replied.
"Go away."
"No. I was thinking maybe I should give you a hard time."
The door opened. "Why?" Manny asked. She stepped around Sammy to the sink and splashed water on her face.
"Because you gave me a hard time," Sammy said.
Manny looked up at her through the mirror. "I know," Manny whispered. "And I'm sorry. I was just really upset that you got Craig."
"But you didn't have to be so mean to me about it."
"I'm sorry," Manny replied. "I'm just so scared."
Sammy nodded. "I know, Manny," she said.
Manny looked up at her and smiled. "Thanks."
Sammy nodded. "Well, I'll see you later," she said.
Manny nodded. It was great to have someone to talk to about all that was going on in her life now.
