Sammy took Gabriel home later on that night. It was thirty minutes after she left when there was a knock at the door.
"I got it," Craig said, as Joey started to get up. Joey fell back onto the couch.
He walked over and opened the door to see Ashley standing there.
"What do you want now?" he asked.
He stepped outside so Angela wouldn't hear anything.
"I came to talk to you," she said.
"About what?" he asked.
"About Sammy."
"You know, I'm getting sick and tired of you talking about my girlfriend. And after this baby is born, hopefully she'll be my wife!"
Ashley seemed taken aback by that. "W-Wife?" she asked.
He shook his head. "Never mind," he replied. "Why are you here?"
Ashley looked at him. "I came to apologize and to tell you I need you," she said. "I'm so lonely without you, Craig. I want you back."
Craig looked at her. "What am I going to do about Sammy? And Julia?" he asked.
"Julia? Who's Julia?"
"That's the name we decided on," Craig said.
Ashley looked at him. "I can't live without you, Craig," she said. "I want to be with you. Just break up with Sammy."
"Why?"
Ashley sighed. "I heard that she slept with Sean," she said. "And a bunch of other guys. I don't think you're the father of this baby."
"That's a lie," Craig replied. "You must have Sammy mixed up with Manny."
Ashley sighed. "Craig, she's a slut!" she said. "She probably doesn't know who the father is an if you're not the dad you'll be bringing up a bastard child."
"Shut up, Ashley," he muttered.
"No!" Ashley said. "Are you even up to the responsibility of taking care of a baby? Do you even know how?"
"I help her with Gabe."
"Speaking of bastard children."
He glared at Ashley. "Don't talk about Gabe. Or Sammy."
"You know, Craig this sounds like your life story in Gabe's place. His dad is a jerk, his mom meets a nice guy, after you two have a daughter, she's going to leave you forever."
"Stop it Ashley," he said.
"She's going to take both, Gabe and the baby, and leave you!"
"STOP IT!" he yelled, without knowing it and having any control of his body he brought his hand up and slapped her across the face with the back of his hand.
He stared at her. His eyes wide. "Ash, I'm—" he stepped toward her and she held a hand up.
"Stay away from me Craig," she said. She stepped back and turned and walked away from him. You deserved it, she thought. She fought back tears.
Craig himself was fighting back his own tears as he fell back against the door. His hand stung. He had hit a girl. Oh God, he was turning into his dad!
