Manny sat at her computer in her bedroom. She had all the lights turned out and the curtains closed. She was on the Degrassi website and she had candles lit around her bedroom and had incense burning in a glass ashtray next to the computer. She was sitting in a pair of sweatpants and a large t-shirt, her hair were in two ponytails hanging behind her ears. She reached up and took the mouse and clicked on Sammy's web page and sent her a message.
TO: Sammy
FROM: Manny
SUBJECT: Baby
Hey,
First of all, I want to say how sorry I am I was a b**** to you before but I've matured now that I'm in the same position as you are.
Second, I want to know. How do you do it? How can you actually take care of a baby, be pregnant, and go to school all at the same time. But then again you know who your baby's father is, unlike me. I'm scared I don't know who my baby's father and I'm not sure if I want to keep it. I've already aborted one baby I don't think I could do it again. I saw how much it killed Craig. You are much smarter than me when you didn't abort your baby.
Well, what I'm trying to say is. I really need someone right now and I was wondering…if you could be that someone. Well, I have to go.
Write me back if you're not still mad at me for being a b*tch as I mentioned before.
Sorry again,
Manny
She clicked Send and leaned back in her chair. She reached over and picked up the phone and dialed Sean's number. "Hello?" he answered after the first couple of rings.
"Hey," she said.
"Who is this?" he asked.
"Manny."
"Oh, hey! What's up?"
"Nothing," she said. "I was just thinking."
"About what?"
"About the only thing I can think of. The baby."
"Oh."
"Yeah." She sighed. "What are we going to do, Sean?"
"I don't know about you," he said. "But—and I'm not trying to sound selfish—until I know if the baby is mine. I'm not going to do anything."
"But, Sean—"
"I'm not going to take care of a baby that isn't mine, Manny," he replied. "I'll take care of my mistakes. Not someone else's." They were quiet for a minute until he said, "I have to go. Tracker's bugging me to eat."
"Oh, ok," she said. "Whatever."
"Bye Manny."
He hung up as soon as Manny said good-bye. She looked at the phone and turned it off. She looked at her reflection. "This is all your fault, Manny," she said. "Not anyone else's mistake. Yours." She blinked and tears rolled down her face. She got up and turned her mirror around to the wall. She sat down on the bed and then laid down on her side. She remembered a time when she admired herself in the mirror. But now, she was disgusted to even catch a glance of her reflection in a mall window.
"Don't blame anyone but yourself," she whispered to herself. "You stupid slut." She cried until she fell asleep.
