Craig went home after he and Sammy laid on the bed, talking until she fell asleep that afternoon. He walked into the house and ran upstairs to his bedroom. He closed the door and locked it. He opened his desk drawer and pulled out the envelope where he had been saving his paycheck that Joey had given him for working at Jeremiah Motors. He counted out the money, he wanted to buy something for Sammy. He only had one thing on his mind. He had saved his money up for the past year. "Yes," he said, when he figured he had about enough. He stuffed the money into his wallet and stood up. He ran downstairs looking for Joey.
"I'm in here!" Joey said from the living room, after Craig yelled at him.
Craig walked into the living room and saw Joey was lying on the couch watching TV. "I'm going out," he said. "If Sammy calls tell her I'll call her back later."
"Ok, where are you going?" he asked.
"Just to the mall," he said.
"With who?"
"Uh, Marco," he replied. He thought that Marco was the only one of his friends that could keep his big mouth shut. "I'll call him."
"Ok," Joey replied.
Craig ran to the living room and called Marco up.
"Why do you want me to go with you?" Marco asked.
"I don't know," he said. "I told Joey that you would come with me."
"Ok," Marco said. "I'll be right over."
"No, I'll walk by your place," he replied. "Do you think we could get Dylan to drive us?"
"Don't even suggest it," Marco said. "It's a long story and I'll tell you later."
"Whatever," he said. "I'll be right over." Craig hung up and ran out of the house and over to Marco's.
