Chapter 1

It was 3:00 A.M. at Megumi Takani's House

There was a loud knock at the door. Megumi woke with a jolt. A trembling voice said "Please Miss, come quick!" Megumi jumped up and dashed to the door. She threw open the door to reveal a rain soaked woman holding a badly beaten, limp man. She stuttered out, "He got beat up and knocked out in the streets on his way home from-" No time for explanations!" Megumi half shouted at the lady. "I need to help him! He could have internal bleeding!" "Gomen nasai." said the women as she hurried out the door.

Megumi worked on the man for hours, thinking of how she used to kill people with her opium. Internal bleeding had never been what she excelled in, but finally, at 5:00, Megumi stopped with a sigh of relief as she wiped sweat off her brow. "I did it," she heaved.

The next morning, she was out doing her shopping, when a riot began. "She's nearly flat! She could be dying! Call a doctor!" When someone mentioned the doctor, Megumi rushed over to see what had happened. A woman was lying, trampled by a cart and horses. It took a while for this to process in Megumi's mind, but when she realized it all, she, snapped into action. "Someone go get a clean cloth and some boiling water! Bring them to..." Conveniently, a large boat passed on the harbor as Megumi said her address, but then she continued, "Please hurry! Someone's life is in danger!" and she took the severely injured women to her house. Chapter 2
Megumi worked clear into the night trying to save the woman's life. She took this as trying to untie a large knot; as soon as she "untied" one "string" she'd have to "pull" another. Megumi tried and tried to heal the woman, but it was very difficult without someone holding a light for her, plus she hadn't had any thing to eat all day. Megumi was somewhere in the middle of patching up a gash that was an inch deep when she realized something that struck her like heartburn from Karou's cooking. The steady rise and fall of the woman's chest had stopped. Megumi froze. She checked the woman's heartbeat, along with every inch of her body for any sign of life. None. This patient was dead...

Chapter 3
Megumi, who had fallen into a deep depression, for weeks did not leave her house, for groceries or otherwise. She just wanted to die and never kill again. She held a sword close to her chest, waiting mentally preparing for suicide.
