The next Saturday, Craig and Sammy went with Caitlin and Joey to the parenting/birthing classes. As soon as they walked in Caitlin and Joey suddenly felt like they were a thirty years older than most of the other couples in the room. Most of them were teens (AUTHOR'S NOTE: I'm only going to mention two couples it's hard enough to keep up with the Degrassi characters). "Hi," a bubbly blond-haired woman said. "I'm Lily. Welcome to class."
"Hi," Caitlin said.
"Oh my God!" she said. "You're Caitlin Ryan!" She screamed. "I'm going to be teaching Caitlin Ryan!"
Caitlin looked at Joey. "Bad idea," was the look that spread across her face. She turned to Lily. "This is my boyfriend, Joey Jeremiah," she said.
"Hi!" she exclaimed. She looked at the teenagers. "More teenagers."
"Yeah," Sammy and Craig said, not too thrilled with Caitlin that the classes started at eight o'clock in the morning when they were so used to sleeping in on Saturday's.
"Ok, come over and take a seat," Lily said. "Join our little circle."
"She sounds like we're joining a cult," Sammy whispered to Caitlin, who smiled. Sammy and Craig walked over to a spot between a brown haired girl with blond streaks running through her hair with a brown haired guy beside her and a black haired, dark-skinned girl with a brown haired boy.
Sammy sat down on the mat and Craig sat down next to her with some of the pillows that they were told to bring to class. "Hi," the blond girl said.
"Hey," Sammy replied, smiling.
"I'm Regina Sanders," she said, smiling. "This is my boyfriend, Hayden Gordon."
"Hi," Hayden said.
"I'm Candice Stephens," the girl on the other side said.
"And I'm her fiancé, Juan Johansen."
Sammy smiled. "I'm Sammy Thomas and my boyfriend, Craig Manning." As she spoke his name he yawned. She smiled at him.
"What?" he asked.
She shook her head. "Nothing," she said.
"Is this your first baby?" Regina asked.
"Yeah," Craig said.
"No," Sammy replied at the same time.
Regina, Hayden, Candice, and Juan looked at her.
"My second," Sammy said.
They nodded.
"We're having twins," Regina said, rubbing her hand over her stomach. "It runs in both of our families."
"Wow," Sammy said.
"We're having a little boy," Candice replied, smiling. "Do you know what you're having?"
"A girl," Craig said, proudly.
"We didn't want to know the sex of our babies," Regina said. "We wanted it to be a surprise."
"Yeah," Hayden replied.
Regina was wearing an overly large Beatles' T-shirt and black sweatpants. Candice was dressed in a t-shirt that fit her tightly and blue jean bibs.
Lily led them through their breathing exercises. "How do you know Caitlin Ryan?" Juan asked Craig.
"She's dating my step dad," Craig said.
Juan raised his eyebrows. "That's cool."
Next Lily, walked them through diaper changing, bathing the baby, and the proper way to wrap the baby in a blanket using dolls.
Craig looked at the plastic Japanese looking doll on the changing table. He wrapped the baby doll in the blanket the proper way Lily was showing them. "I can do this," he said.
"Yeah," Sammy replied. "But I'll have to do everything else."
He looked at her. "What are you talking about?"
"Like putting the playpen together…"
He laughed. "Ok, ok, enough, picking on me."
"I hope Spinner doesn't get locked out of his house anytime soon."
"Yeah, I don't think Kendra could pull him up."
Sammy giggled and followed Craig's gaze to the baby on the table. She wished she had a camera. She would capture the loving look he had on his face and send it to Manny to make her feel sorry for hurting him the way she did.
