A/N: For Rianne, because she requested a Matthew/Guy fic and worked so hard in attempts to convince me of the pairing. Whilst I'm still not utterly convinced, I wanted to thank her with a quick 20 minute drabble of her fav pairing. Also since she was the first one to review my first FE fiction attempt. Thanks!
Lessons Taught in Sleep
A Matthew/Guy 20 minute drabble
"Mustn't fall asleep...mustn't fall asleep..." Guy muttered to himself as if chanting a mantra, "Mustn't fall...a...ssss..."
Whatever he had been saying was cut off as his head lolled to one side and his murmurs were cut off by a soft snore. This comical site was what Matthew stumbled on when he entered Guy's tent, with perfectly good intentions of course.
Actually, Matthew had been forced to draw his sword in battle today and as a result, dirtied his hands and broken his sword. He was not in the best of moods, but as always, the young Sacae swordsman brought out the more mischievous side in him and thus he had approached the tent with all intentions of pilfering a sword of Guy's.
The scene he had stumbled upon was not one he had expected. After all, the young swordsman had been very alert around him and everyone else ever since that little midnight encounter during which Matthew had taught him a few things about unexpected attacks. Matthew liked the swordsman, the Sacaen was extremely prone to blushing fits and stammers which made teasing him much more amusing.
He looked so innocent in his sleep, so unthreatening despite the arms wrapped firmly around his sword. Matthew chuckled, it was just like Guy to sleep with his sword since the midnight challenge, not realising that his grip on the weapon would loosen when he was asleep.
Matthew crept up to Guy's sleeping form, noting the soft snores that wracked his body. With one hand he gently tipped Guy's head back and slid the sword up from within the Sacaen's grip, the other hand grasping onto the hilt and making sure it didn't strike the sleeping swordsman's chin.
Weapon in hand Matthew, all but jumped away when Guy muttered something in his sleep.
"Uh...Math...yoo...gimme..." Guy's broken syllables sounded.
Matthew grinned and it was quickly suppressed when Guy's body shook with a barely suppressed shudder. It was slightly cool in the tent and Guy wasn't the warmest dresser. Matthew shook his head and undid the clasp on his cloak and draped it over Guy. Guy seemed to snuggle into the warmth and Matthew almost laughed at the childish reaction.
He bent over and brushed a hand over Guy's cheek before slipping out of the tent, grin firmly in place.
Later on that day, Guy's frustrated yells could be heard over the campsite as the sleeping Sacaen had finally awoken and found that not only was his sword missing, but the culprit had deemed it necessary to leave a clue to his identity. Matthew just remained polishing his new sword, unable to contain his smugness. Guy would never learn.
