The Hulk comes home

Betty Ross hang the phone, having just finished talking with her father.

She was working trying to find a cure for the Hulk, as she couldn't forget the man she had loved and still loved. Bruce Banner had not been sacrificed in vane.

Betty turned to return to hr work, tears in her eyes as her chat with General Ross had brought her back to memories of the good times...

If only that blasted day Bruce had had let their companion die, he would still be there with her.

But that was part of what Bruce was. He couldn't stand injustices, and letting their companion die would have been an injustice.

After all, he had been the one that had wanted to work on the Gamma radiations, so if some accident would occur, it was him who would suffer for it, not an innocent.

Betty was holding a test tube in her hands, but she was shaking.

Tears were by now flowing on her cheeks. She knew she could not go on with the experiments, that day.

She placed the test tube in its place, with the others, and started packing her bag. She needed to go home.

The same moment she was leaving the room, she heard a weak knocking on the window.

She turned slowly, not knowing what she could expect.

The sight before her eyes made her heart leap for joy.

Bruce Banner, even if badly injured and a lot thinner than he was before all the Hulk story, was knocking on her window.

She ran to open, and he stumbled in her office, falling on his face.

"Bruce!" she cried, seeing him fall.

He rolled on his side and smiled weakly at her.

She started sobbing loudly, and hugged him tightly, keeping him close to her.

"Oh, Bruce. I was by now sure you were dead! I had missed you so much"

He hugged her weakly.

"I...missed...you...a lot...too" he managed to whisper.

She let go of all her emotions, bottled for a too long time, and brushed her lips on his.

He tried to reply the kiss, but was not able to. He was too weak.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of you, Bruce" she said.

"Or maybe WE will take care of him" a military said

She turned to that voice, seeing four Marines on the threshold of her door.

"No! You can't bring him away from me again!" she said, but was quickly pushed away by the three men.

That had been a mistake, however. As Bruce Banner was not dead, the Hulk was not too.

Even though the battle with David Banner, who kept sucking his strength and the explosion had weakened him a lot, and now the Hulk, also for Bruce's conditions, was not as powerful as before, getting rid of three men was not a problem.

Then, he took Betty, put her on his neck, and leaped away.

As soon as they reached Betty's house, Hulk transformed back to Banner.

She brought him in.

When they were there, Bruce, with a supreme effort, took her in his arms and kissed her fully.

She replied eagerly. Their tongues battled a long time in each other's mouths.

When they parted for need of air, Bruce whispered:

"I Love you, Betty"

"I love you too, Bruce. I always have" she replied, pulling him even closer.

If home was truly were your heart is, then the Hulk had finally come home.
