Back to the Jungle: San Andreas opening cut scene.
(fade in on wide shot of Liberty City Penitentiary exterior. The gates open, and a man walks out carrying his belongings. He is Carl Johnson.)
Carl: (Narrating) My name is Carl Johnson. Call me CJ. (Cut to flashback, Carl sitting in car. Two things are on his lap: a submachine gun, and a woman's hand) Five years ago, 1987, I was living and loving in the great state of San Andreas. (Cut to shot of man in black hooded sweatshirt, his back to the camera, holding the shoulders of another man, his back also to the camera. Throughout all of the following, we do not see Sweatshirt's face. Cut to wide shot of the street, the car driving slowly down the street, Carl and his homies stick their guns out the window and begin shooting. Sweatshirt whips around, turning the man he is holding around also, between him and the bullets. Carl in the flashback yells "STOP!" But it's too late. The man being held by Sweatshirt is Jerome Johnson, Carl's brother. Jerome crumples to the ground, dead.) Until my brother was killed. Then I was leaving. I decided to get as far away from San Andreas and everyone in it as i possibly could. So I dropped out of contact with my friends and family and moved across the country to Liberty City (Ex. Long Shot of the entire city of Liberty). It was there that I planned to make a name for myself. Legitimately. I guess half isn't too bad. I did make a name for myself, working for the Vercetti Family (Reservoir Dogs-style shot of several Vercetti Gang members walking down the street, until...). And everybody knew my name. Including the heat. (...cop cars come rushing in, surrounding them. Cops get out and point guns at them) I got busted, and would have served fifteen years, if the leader of the gang didn't let me use his personal lawyer. I don't know why he did that, but my sentence was reduced to five years. (Cut back to him leaving the prison, getting into a cab, and fade out as it drives away. Then, sudden open [as if lights being turned on] on an answering machine with blinking light. Carl is in background, framed by his apartment door. Throughout the following narration, he walks across the room and pushes the button) And now, three days after my release, I get a phone call from my sister.
Carl's Sister: (on answering machine, crying) CJ, you have to come home...it's mom, she...shes been killed.
CJ: (narrating) I guess you can't take the lion out of the jungle after all.
