Arwen stood beside Aragorn's tomb until well after night fell. The grief in
her heart was beyond comprehension. Many years had she spent standing
beside this man, years filled with light and laughter. Now she felt as if
that light had been quenched forever.
She stood there remembering those years and many before them. Unbidden, a thought came to her mind of her last conversation with her father.
flashback
Arwen sat on the bed of her room, tears streaming down her face. Her father sat beside. He had come to bid her farewell for the very last time.
"Arwen," he said. "I wish you a...l...long...and pros...prosperous life."
Arwen looked into his eyes to see tears gathering there as well. She sat still and silent for a moment, then threw her arms around her father as she hadn't done since she was an elfling.
"Ada," she cried. "I'm going to miss you so much."
Elrond swallowed, trying to keep control of his emotions, "And I you, iell'nin," he said softly.
"Ada, do you ever think we'll meet again?" Arwen asked.
Elrond held her at arms length and looked into her eyes, "I do not know, daughter. In my heart there is a hope. Forever seems far too long to be separated from those you love."
end flashback
Unexplainably, Arwen's heart was filled with hope. She could think once again but that made the tears come. She collapsed to the ground and wept.
Later, her son came for her. They went to her room and talked for many hours. In that time, Arwen decided to take care of things in the kingdom before heading to Lorien. A month later, she went to Lorien, leaving the fate of Gondor in the hands of her son.
Author's note: I have to explain some things to people. Um, I'm sorry about my other piece. I am working on the chapter but projects at school are getting in the way. This piece was brought on by a flurry of emotions. I shall assure you it was very sponteineous, though still very meaningful. This miny-story will give a hint as to some other stories I'll be doing in the future.
Goodnight!
