Title: Waiting

Review: Short story set when Will and Elizabeth are both sixteen. Just read it plz cos I really don't know what to say...

Disclaimer: Don't own Will and Elizabeth.........Or maybe I do. I dunno, cos 16 year old Will and Elizabeth haven't really been 'made' yet. I dno, let's just say that I do own them but I don't own their surroundings. Okay? Yeah, sure. Uh-huh okay then.

Will had been working on his first sword when Elizabeth had knocked on the door. She was outside and was crying. She had fled from her father when he had called Will a simple minded blacksmith's son and that he didn't want her to see him anymore.

Will had opened the door and was surprised to find Elizabeth standing on the door step, completely drenched by the rain. He'd been working so hard to make the sword perfect that he was deaf to the world. He'd only heard the knock by chance.

"Elizabeth! Come in, you'll get cold out there." Will said and ushered her in and he grabbed one of his coats and wrapped it around her and sat her upon a stool near the fire. He then realised she was crying and asked,

"Are you alright?" He squatted down so he was level with her and gently wiped her tears with his thumb. She pushed her face into his hands and kissed it. She then took it into her hands and began kissing it.

"Elizabeth?" Elizabeth let go of his hand and put her hand on his cheek.

"Will, I'm tired of waiting."

"Waiting?" Will asked, not sure of what she was talking about.

"Yes, waiting." She looked deep into his eyes and he understood what he was talking about.

"But, Elizabeth we agreed that we couldn't........."

"Please Will. Please." Elizabeth leaned forward and Will did too their lips were mere millimetres away. Will's heart beat quickened as he felt Elizabeth's warm breath on his face.

Suddenly Mr Brown stumbled in and they sprang apart. Elizabeth got up and ran to the door. She turned and said,

"Will........." Their eyes locked and Elizabeth sent her apologies and Will nodded and cast his eyes down. Elizabeth left the forge and never came back. Mr Brown looked out the door after her and the turned and looked at Will sternly. He motioned to the empty stool and said,

"Sit down boy." Will sat down on the stool that Elizabeth had sat on before and Mr Brown dragged a chair over beside the fire. He sat down and warmed his hands for half a minute before starting,

"Will, I love you like a son, and that's why I'm telling you this. You have to know your place boy. You can't go around seducing all of the governor's daughters." Will protested at this but Mr Brown held his hand up to stop them and said,

"You are a good lad and believe me it doesn't matter what your intentions are, if the governor hears or finds out that you and Elizabeth are anything more than friends he'll try to hang you." And that was the end of that subject. Will only saw Elizabeth in passing and had never properly talked to her again after that.

AN: Hey pplz, I just had this idea for this story while I was writing 'Tropical Island'. The whole thing about them being sixteen and nearly kissing and everything, you know? Yeah, okay I'm signing off now.
