Here goes: 'A what if?' Fic What if Himeno didn't wake up....
'Leafe, please...Just one more time. Bring back that smile. Just one more time. If there is a miracle called love, bring back her smile.'
"Himeno...please come back...please..." Hayate begged of the comatose queen. But she did not stir. "...No..."
It was Kei who finally broke the silence. "She's dead...Hayate...she's gone..."
"Shut up!!" Kei, shocked as he was, did not falter.
"She's not coming back-"
"Yes she is!!" Hayate turned to Kei. "Yes, she will." he repeated quietly. The Leafe knights all were shocked by the tears streaming from Hayate's eyes. Strong, silent, ever-glaring Hayate was crying. Hayate turned back to Himeno. "Wake up... C'mon.... Tulip-head?" The knights turned away. His voice dissolved into a low raspy whisper. "Please...Himeno..."
"I can't watch this anymore," Kei said suddenly, disappearing in a flash of light.
"HEY!!" shouted Goh. "...unfeeling bastard..."
"Goh enough." interrupted Sasame. "Leave him be."
"But-" Goh started, cut off by Sasame's glare.
"This is my fault... If only I hadn't become the Princess of Darkness..."
"No Takkako." interjected Hayate, his voice barely above a whisper. "This...all of this is my fault... Himeno....Forgive me....forgive me...." Hayate rose abrubtly, head lowered.
"Hayate-" But Sasame cut her off with a quick shake of his head. "Hayate," she continued, ignoring Sasame (much to his annoyance), "You needent blame youself. Himeno...Himeno sacrifaced herself so you could be-"
"Happy? So I could be happy?! Look at me. LOOK AT ME!! Do I look happy? Damn you Himeno. Damn you for being so perfect, for being Pretear. Why you? Why?" Hayate fell to his knees on the ground next to Himeno, sobbing. "Why? Why? It isn't fair... it isn't fair at all..."
A warm hand gently cupped the side of his face, lifting his face upward. "Hayate..."
"Himeno? You..."
She smiled. "Hayate. I was in Leafenia. It was beautiful." She paused as Hayate gasped and continued, "It was so warm. I felt like something was pulling me away...Away from you. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't stop it. But, I heard your sobs. And Kei's heart breaking. And everyone else...crying... And I thought 'Wow, all this for me?'" Hayate managed a shaky smile.
"Tulip-head..." his voice quivered, "...You idiot."
"No," she replied pulling Hayate into an embrace, "I'm a moron because I didn't wake up sooner."
"Moron then." He said, breathing in the scent of her hair. Kei reappeared from behind a tree, smiling.
"See, I told you she wasn't dead." his voice and gaze both held a disinterested tone. Hayate's head snapped up.
"Like HELL, you did!!" Kei looked shocked, then smiled as Hayate returned Himeno's embrace. Yes, it seemed things were finally going right for Hayate.
...immediately!! Hah!! Had you fooled!! Hehe. Anyway...um...yah. If you guys/gals want, I can make a fic where she doens't wake up. I've seen the whole series so I have some sort of grasp on their personality. I think...Heh
