Chapter Ten.

Jason maneuvered himself to the window of the loft with the Guyver still active. He felt the stares from the others. It was starting to overwhelm him. He'd never told anyone his secret before, not even his parents. 'Course, they're both wasted every night it's not like I could tell them.' he thought.

Clark couldn't believe it. This, weapon, was created by his father? How? And how could it possibly have gotten to earth? He got up from where he was sitting and headed for Jason.

As Clark got closer to Jason he noticed a small ball on the back of the helmet turn towards him. Unsure of what it was, Clark stopped.

Jason turned around. "It's alright, Clark. I have no intentions of harming anyone tonight."

"What was that, thing?" Clark asked. "On the back of your, head?"

"An optical sensor." Jason replied. He could tell that Clark and the others were tense and having the Guyver active wasn't helping. As quickly as the weapon activated it retracted. Before everyone's eyes, each piece of the Guyver broke apart and went to al sides before retracting back into Jason's neck. Jason looked just like he did before activating the weapon. "Is that better?" he asked.

"Um, yeah." Clark replied. He needed to ask him how he knew Jor-El. "Jason, you mentioned that the weapon was created by someone named Jor-El, right?"

"Yeah, from a planet called Krypton." Jason looked at him. "Why do you ask?"

"Because Jor-El was my father and Krypton was my home planet."

Everyone gasped. "That's impossible." Jason stated. "No one was suppose to have survived."

"Well, I did." Clark replied, then asked. "Survived what?"

"Krypton was at war with a race of aliens when it was destroyed. The aliens came across the planet and all the incredible technologies once and tried invading without success. So finally the aliens ended up using a terrible weapon against the planet and it blew up."

"How do you know all that?" Rogue asked.

"The Guyver was uploaded with all the information when it was created." Jason told her. "Whoever has it also gains the information." Rogue nodded her head.

"What was the name of the aliens that tried to take Krypton?" Pete asked. Jubilee still had her hand interlaced with Pete's but neither seemed to have noticed. They were both to interested in the story.

"They were called the Goa'uld. They're a parasitic race that take other being's as hosts." Jason replied.

"Do you have anything else on them?" Clark asked.

"No. Just that, I'm sorry." Jason looked up at everyone. "Look, about the Friends of Humanity. They plan to attack at the dance. I think they might want revenge for whatever it was you did to them."

"Ok, don't worry about it. We'll take care of everything." Bobby told him.

"Yeah, that may be right, but I also plan to help." Jason told him.

"With what, that thing, the Guyver?" Bobby asked him.

"Yes, with the Guyver. It's a weapon, designed to fight. I might as well use it." Jason replied. His own anger was beginning to rise.

Bobby could tell that Jason was getting angrier with him and decided to back off. "Ok man, sorry." He sat down next to Chloe who snuggled closer to him.

"So what do we do?" Kurt asked. He was about to get up and move to a more comfortable spot when he tripped and his image inducer came off revealing his true form. Pete and Jason, who hadn't been told about Kurt yet, gasped at Kurt as he was scrambling to get watch back on.

'And I thought I looked like a freak with the Guyver activated.' Jason thought. Kurt by now had managed to grab his holo inducer and had it back on. He pressed a button and the form that he hid in came back on. "Sorry," he told them, his thick German accent evident. "I would've told you about this before but I wasn't sure if I could trust you fully." Pete seemed to manage a nod.

Jason shrugged. "Don't worry about it. It still freaks me out every time I see the Guyver in a mirror."

"So anyway, now that that's all over, what are we going to do?" Kitty asked. The eleven teens just looked down at the ground, no one really having an idea at the moment.

"Well, we could do one of two things." John said, bringing out of their thoughts. "We could go to this dance and kick the F.O.H's asses when they show up or we could just stay away and see what happens." John had never been fully trusting of humans. He was slowly coming around but that was just it; the process was slow.

Bobby just laughed at his friend. "Do you know what would happen if we did that? They could possibly shoot innocent people!"

"No, that could work." Jason interjected. Bobby looked at him like he was a madman. "Look, I said that it could work and I believe that. We could get them in the gym and get everyone else out. That way the F.O.H would be in a confined space making our job a little easier."

"What if they're armed with machine guns?" Chloe asked.

"Don't worry about that." Jason told her, a grim smile across his face. "The Guyver will take care of that."

Smallville industrial park....

"So your sure they'll be here?" Senator Johnson asked the man.

"Yes sir, we're very sure of it." the man replied. It was the very same that had gone on the intelligence gathering mission. "As far as we know, all three of the targets will be there."

"Excellent." The senator exited the room with his subordinate in tow. He headed for the main part of the warehouse where the others were stationed. Coming to the top of the stairway, he stopped. "Attention everyone!" Anybody that had been doing something stopped abruptly and gave Senator Johnson their full and undivided attention. "We know where the mutants will be!"

The soldiers cheered. "I want everyone of you to be prepared! Tomorrow night, revenge will be ours!!" The men cheered again as each one began to quickly pack up supplies or whatever other task they'd been told to do.

Tomorrow, the Friends of Humanity would take out some mutants.

Smallville High...
Night of the dance.

"Clark, stop fidgeting!" Rogue told him as tried to calm him down. The two were in Clark's truck heading for the dance.

"I can't. There's something about this plan I don't like." he told her.

"What part do you not like?" Rogue asked him.

Clark shook his head. "Jason. There's something about him. I don't think I trust him completely."

"I don't either." Rogue told him. "I do think that it's really weird that he has an invention that your biological father created in him."

"Yeah, that is kinda off." Clark told her. He wheeled the truck into the parking lot space. Opening the door, Clark got out then turned around and held out his hand for Rogue. "Thank you." she told him politely." Once they were ready the two teens headed into the gymnasium hand in hand.

Smallville High Gym

The dance had gone on smoothly for about thirty minutes. Each of the teens in attendance mingled with others or danced.

Clark was on edge. They'd been inside for nearly thirty minutes and so far nothing. Jason still hadn't shown up which had him worried about that as well.

Clark's gaze cast itself to the dance floor. He observed some of the mutants and his human friends were dancing. He frowned momentarily, thinking about Lana and how she was still in the hospital. 'Hopefully she'll be out of that coma in no time.' Clark thought. Clark was so intertwined in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed that Jason was standing right behind him.

"Hey Clark."

Clark nearly jumped when Jason said hello to him. He couldn't believe that Jason had just snuck up like that behind him. His heightened sense of hearing should've heard him from miles away.

"Jeez, do you have to keep doing that?" Clark asked Jason as he sat down.

"Do what? Sneak up behind you?" Jason asked. "Your way too jumpy, Clark."

Clark rolled his eyes. "Well you're here. What took you so long?"

Jason shrugged. "My dirt bike had a few problems. Nothing major." He pulled out a chair. "I'm here, though, and that's all that should matter."

Clark nodded. "Ok. Since you're here now have you noticed anything , well, out of place?"

Jason looked around the room. "I'm got a really bad feeling right now if that's what your asking. I can't exactly put my finger on it but something bad is really going to happen very soon."

The dance seemed to be going well despite Jason's claims. Other students were laughing and or dancing with one another. Some were getting photos made. A few were at the refreshment tables getting some snacks and drinks. All in all it seemed like everything would be ok.

But it was far from it.

Some of the F.O.H. members managed to out who would be catering the dance and knocked over the truck as it was heading to Smallville. Now they had at least four of their people inside the gymnasium. The men had managed to sneak in their weapons, dna scanners, small walkie talkies, and control collars. They would be the first to strike when the order was given.

Outside the other F.O.H. members pulled up with in their bus. Senator Johnson was also with them and was the first off when the bus came to a halt. As soon as he got out the others followed suit; each one carrying their weapons, scanners and collars. There weren't so many collars this time as Johnson wanted nothing more than to destroy these mutants here and now. He wanted revenge for the attack in Metropolis and nothing but the blood of those responsible would do.

Back inside the gym one of the disguised F.O.H. members quickly radioed the situation to his superior. It was getting late and some of the teens had already left. This meant that the there would be less chance of human casualties and fatalities. The scanners had picked up the presence of at least seven mutants therefore confirming the senator's theory that there were more mutants responsible in the attacks.

"Soldiers, get ready." The senator spoke to his men. Each one firmly grasped their weapons.

The time for the attack was nearing.

Back inside the gym Jason suddenly tensed. Something felt wrong. He looked around the gym for a second noting what was happening. The mutants were gathered around him and Clark, which was good. Pete and Chloe were with their respective dates as well. He glanced over in the direction of the humans and noted that they were at a safe distance and near the exits. So why did he suddenly get these weird vibes?

"Men, in just a few short seconds, you'll be making history." Senator Johnson started. Each one of you today will be remembered for taking down one of those terrible mutants!" He cast an approving look over his soldiers. "Each of you will be a hero in the Friends of Humanity's eyes. You'll be remembered for helping to cleanse the earth of the very thing we despise." The senator clasped his walkie talkie. "Men, on my mark. 3.…2.…1..."

Suddenly Jason shot up from the table. Everyone around him looked at him in a funny way. Some dismissed it and went back to what they were doing. It was only then that Jason glanced over towards the caterers.

"Mark."

They had pulled out what looked like fully automatic weapons and were pointing them in his direction! "Hit the deck!" Jason yelled to the others. Once they saw the caters and what they were doing they never once hesitated.

Bullets fired from everywhere. Clark quickly grabbed Rogue and used his own body as a shield. He barely felt the bullets as they ricocheted off him. All that mattered was that Rogue would be ok.

Pitor grabbed one of the tables and slammed it down allowing himself, Kitty, Pyro, and his date, Melissa, to hide behind it. Pitor's body changed as the metal coursed over it. Pyro dug through his pocket for his lighter. He fully intended to take care out some of these guys. His date all the while was freaking out as she watched Pitor's transformation. She backed away in fear towards the wall.

Pete managed to push Jubilee down and out of the way but couldn't move himself at the sight of the F.O.H. members. The bullets were just about to hit him when Jason moved in between Pete and the oncoming projectiles. Quickly, Kurt teleported to Pete's side, grabbed him, and teleported for cover.

The second the bullet shots were heard Bobby grabbed Chloe and made a beeline for where Clark and Rogue were hiding out. They'd managed to get to cover just as Jason was hit.

Jason's bullet riddled body hit the ground. The firing abruptly stopped as he hit the floor. The other F.O.H. members soon stormed in behind their brothers. Senator Johnson followed and was immediately pleased with the results. "Alright! We know there are mutants in here!" His attention was mainly focused on some tables that had been forced down like they'd been used for cover. "If you come out now we won't harm you. If you don't come willingly, though, extreme force will be used!" The Senator smiled evilly and grabbed his own pistol, sending two warning shots across the tables.

"What are we going to do?" Chloe asked Bobby. Bobby looked from Chloe to Clark and Rogue. "I don't know." He glanced over towards where Jason's now lifeless body lay. "But we need to do something soon otherwise we'll all be dead."

Chloe looked at Jason. "Oh my god…" she trailed off as she watched a puddle of blood around him. Tears began to trail down her face. Why did she feel pity for him? She'd only really known him for a day and or two and her impression was like that of the other's: she didn't completely trust him. Now here she was crying for someone who'd selflessly gave his life for another.

"This is your last chance!" The senator yelled to the mutants. "Come out now or we'll open fire!"

The seven mutants, one Kryptonian, and two humans looked at one another. If the mutants gave up then they would more likely be slaughtered. Clark figured they didn't know what his weakness was so he'd be ok but still, the F.O.H. would know about him. As for Chloe and Pete, they would probably be taken by the Humanity members and interrogated; possibly even tortured to death.

Everyone was brought out of their thoughts when they heard a groan coming from behind the tables. What they saw next completely blew their minds.

The over-confident F.O.H. members stared, mouth's open, as Jason slowly began pushing himself up. The bullets that had impacted him were oozing out of his body as the wounds sealed themselves up. Jason turned to his friends and then back to the Humanity members.

The last bullet popped out of his chest. Slowly, as the pain lessened, Jason made his way to the F.O.H. members. By this time they were gripping their rifles in fear. None of them had ever met a mutant that could regenerate from gun wounds. About halfway between where his friends were and the Humanity members were Jason stopped. "Is that the best you have?" he asked in a hoarse voice which was slowly getting better.

Senator Johnson drew every bit of courage he had and spoke. "No, it isn't. In fact mutie, we have some grenades a few rocket launchers that should take care of you nicely."

Jason laughed, which cause several of the F.O.H. members to tense up. "You think that a grenade can kill me?" He started laughing even harder. "You're apparently dumber than I thought." He stopped laughing. "Guyver."

The armor sprang from Jason's neck and encompassed his body. The spike on the top of the helmet sprang up, the blue power crystal on the front of it lit up, and two streams of air came out of the mouthpiece. "You think you can stop me now?" Jason asked.

"What the hell are you?!" The senator asked. Whatever courage he once had was now replaced by fear.

"Your worst nightmare." Jason replied coldly and lunged towards the cowering Humanity members.

The hiding mutants, humans, and alien looked on in shock as Jason, in the Guyver, attacked the fleeing F.O.H. members. Without a second's hesitation, John leapt over the protective barricade with his still lit flame and launched a fire ball at two of them as they tried to get to the exit. Both men died instantaneously. The other mutants and Clark soon joined him. Kitty grabbed Pete, Chloe and Melissa and phased through the wall and to safety.

Clark supersped to a few of the humanity members. Using his fists he knocked them out cold. Rogue followed suit and with her bare hands, put one or two into comas.

Jubilee held out her hands as the kinetic energy left them and hit several F.O.H. members. This cause temporary blindness in some of them making them useless to fight.

Pitor rammed his fist into one of the Humanity members knocking him to the ground. How dare they attack him or Kitty! Acting only on his feelings, Pitor knocked another to the ground.

Kurt grabbed one of the Humanity members and teleported up towards the rafters. With him hanging securely by his tail he'd drop the man twenty feet in the air towards the ground, effectively taking him out.

Bobby managed to freeze a few of the members until one of them grabbed a knife and shoved it into his arm. Bobby let out a cry as the blade went all the way through and blood began gushing out. Jason saw this and rushed to Bobby's side. The last thing the Humanity member saw was the blade on the Guyver's arm extend outwards a foot and shoved into his head.

The battle was nearly over and the mutant's were winning, partially thanks to an alien and an alien enhanced human. Senator Johnson ran for a fire exit. Sure, his men might be dead or dying but he would live. He would claim that his men were slaughtered mercilessly in battle. He would get the backing of the rest of the Friends of Humanity and come back to Smallville. From there he would tear the town apart to find the one's responsible

As the Senator tried to rush out one of the optical sensors on the Guyver's helmet picked up the cowering man. Jason jerked around just to see him leaving through the door. Clark also saw the retreating senator and glanced up at the Jason who momentarily nodded. The two men supersped out of the gym to find him.

Senator Johnson had just about reached the bus when Clark supersped in his path. The senator stopped, and, out of fear, turned around to go the other way when the Guyver appeared out of know where behind him, blocking his path. The senator stopped again and looked back to Clark then back to the Guyver. "You freaks!" He screamed. "You mutant's think that you'll get away with killing me! The Friends of Humanity will hunt you down and kill all of you!"

Clark looked at the senator with disgust. How could anyone have voted a man into office or given him this much power? He was about to take care of him when he looked behind at Jason. He knew what he wanted, and didn't move. "You think that were mutants, don't you?"

"Your damn right, freak." the senator snarled back.

"Your wrong." Jason replied, his metallic voice replied back. "You see, the person in front of you's an alien…" The senator gasped.

"…and I'm an alien enhanced human. So as you can see, were not mutants." Jason finished calmly. The Senator whirled around to confront the Guyver.

"So, I guess you're both going to kill me then?" Senator Johnson asked.

"No." the Guyver replied. "Clark would never do such a thing.."

Senator Johnson breathed a sigh of relief.

"…but I would." Before the senator could say anything else the blade on the Guyver's right arm elongated and then Jason jumped about ten feet into the air. Coming down, he brought the blade across the senator.

No one blinked. No one said anything. For the brief one or two seconds that passed, everything was silent. The next thing they knew, the senator's decapitated head slid off his neck and the body slowly fell to the ground. Clark's mouth dropped and he stared at Jason. The two looked at one another before heading back inside. There they collected the other mutants and humans and headed back to the Kent farm.

Once back at the Kent's everyone had found a place to collect their thoughts. Mrs. Kent helped treat the small scratches that John, Bobby, Kurt, and Jubilee. Kitty remained next to Pitor has he held her small hand in his. Kurt, Jubilee, and Pete had retreated to the living room where they were watching tv.

John finally had coaxed Melissa to secluded part of the house where they talked. Melissa had some problems accepting the fact that Pyro was a mutant. She'd admitted that she'd never met one but also after tonight she wasn't sure how she felt about him and the others. The two talked until the wee hours of the morning when Mr. Kent found them snuggled under a blanket.

While everyone was in the house Bobby and Chloe sat out on the porch swing and talked to themselves. Clark and Rogue went to the barn loft to be alone. The two sat mostly in silence until Clark broke it. "Jason killed Senator Johnson."

Rogue stared at him. "Didn't you try and stop him?"

"I didn't even have a chance. He just did it so fast that, I don't think that I could've stopped him." Clark replied.

Rogue snuggled closer to him. "Well, at least he's gone. He'll never harm anyone again, human or mutant alike."

"Maybe." Clark began. "But with the manor that he killed him, I don't think many people are going to be pleased."

"What'd he do, Clark?" Rogue asked.

Clark turned so his face was facing hers. "He cut his head off."

Rogue gasped. "He what?"

"I couldn't believe it either, Rogue." Clark stated. "He just killed him right in front of my eyes. It's like a part of him wanted to do that." Clark stopped and looked off to the side. "He motioned to me before he did it and I just thought he was going to knock him out which is why I never tried to stop him."

Rogue nodded. "Do you think that we can still trust him?"

"I don't know, Rogue. I just don't know. He killed that man in cold blood with no regard for his life." Clark looked back to his girlfriend. "I just don't know what to believe."

While all this went on Jason went for a walk. He needed to think about what he, no, the Guyver had done. It was hard for him to deal with the fact that so many people were dead because of him, no, the Guyver. Unfortunately, Jason couldn't help but feel blame himself a little too. After all, it was his body the Guyver occupied and it was he that had in part taken so many lives that day.

It was the next day when the Kent house received two important calls. The first was from Xavier's School for Gifted Children. The professor had monitored the battle through Cerebro and was immediately coming to get his students. He felt that after the battle their lives would be in danger. He also wanted to meet Clark and Jason and possibly invite them to his school, if they wanted.

The next call was one that no one was expecting. It was the hospital notifying them of something very important.

Lana was dead.

A few hours later a huge jet landed at the back of the Kent's home. Bobby had explained to the Kent's and everyone else that the plane, dubbed the 'Blackbird', carried some friends of there's from their school in Westchester.

Four people came down the ramp as it lowered to the ground. The first was a young looking gent with brown hair and a thick set of glasses. The second was a woman with dark colored skin and hair that was solid white. Seeing her former students again made her smile and she and the man went to talk to them.

The next two to exit the jet were an odd pair indeed. The first was a man that looked like he just came out of a bar. He had facial hair that came down his face and was sprouted wildly on the top of his head. The man reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigar and promptly lit it up. He then turned around to the jet. "Yah comin', Chuck?"

The last one off the plane slid slowly down the ramp on a wheelchair. He was bald man, possibly in his early fifties and was wearing a suit. He noted the Kent's and asked the other man, whom he identified as "Logan", to wheel him over.

"Mr. And Mrs. Kent." He greeted the two adults warmly. "My name is Professor Charles Xavier." Martha shook his hand. Jonathan did as well, only with less confidence. He wasn't sure if he should trust this man or not. "I own and run the Xavier School in Westchester, from which the students are from." The two Kent's nodded and everyone headed inside where introductions continued.

The Kent's found about each of the new mutants powers through demonstrations. Ororo Monroe's, also known as storm, weather controlling powers were the most spectacular. The most disturbing were Logan's as six ten inch claws popped out of his fists. It was after this last demonstration that the professor's curiosity turned towards Clark and Jason. "So, have you both thought about my offer?"

"It sounds exciting." Clark commented. "I mean, a place where I could just use my powers out in the open and not in any fear of others." But then he looked at his parents. "But I don't think I could go. My parents need me here on the farm and I have a life here." Then he looked at Rogue who was sitting next to him. She looked back at him, a little sad. "But I will think about it." The professor nodded and turned to Jason.

"Forget it." Jason told him from where he sat. "I'm not going to some school where you can poke and prod me like I'm some kind of lab rat."

The professor had expected this. "Jason, I understand you reluctance to come. You however, would be safe. Perhaps we could help you learn how to use and control the Guyver."

"My answer is still no." Jason replied. "The Guyver is a really dangerous weapon. If someone found out about me then the government might get a hold of me and dissect me."

The professor let out a sigh. "Please at least consider it. We won't be leaving till after the upcoming funeral which should give you both more than enough time to think this over."

At the funeral Clark, Chloe, and Pete each said a part in the eulogy. The mutants and the other students sat off to the side. Rogue wept hard. She blamed her power on Lana's death even though medical evidence contradicted this. The reports claimed that a blood vessel in her brain had burst causing extreme pressure to build up in her cranium. The pressure finally built up to the point where she couldn't take it anymore and finally gave out.

Melissa sat close to John. She'd thought enough about John being different. It didn't phase her much anymore and she found herself strangely enjoying his company.

Jason was behind everyone standing. He watched as Lana's body was lowered into the ground. While this was going on he thought about Xavier's offer. 'I'd be around others that are different. He said maybe I could learn how to control the Guyver. Maybe I should give it a shot.'

While on the way back to the Kent household the local radio recounted the news of the Friend's of Humanity's slayings. They heavily emphasized the brutal murder of Senator Johnson. Rogue turned it off as she didn't want to hear how they patronized him as a hero doing his civil duty.

Once back at the farm Professor Xavier announced they would be leaving very soon as he was needed back at the mansion. Six of the seven mutants headed to their host family's homes and gathered their things and explained that their stay had been cut short due to "uncontrollable circumstances." No one asked anything and everyone arrived back at the farm within thirty minutes.

"It's time to go." the professor announced. He and the others began to head for the Blackbird when Clark came out of the farm house with a bag in tow. "I've talked with my parents." Clark started. "I'm going."

The professor smiled. "I'm glad they're letting you go. I only wished that Jason would've wanted to join us as well."

Suddenly everyone heard the sound of a familiar dirt bike pull up towards the small crowd. Jason shut of the bike and got off. "Alright professor, you talked me into it."

"Excellent." Professor Xavier commented.

"One condition, though." Jason started. "I bring my bike with me. No questions asked."

The professor and the others gave him a surprised look. "Very well." He turned to Logan. "Logan, would you please help him stow his bike in the cargo hold?"

The Wolverine grumbled something between a "yeah sure" and a low growl as he helped Jason get the bike into the plane. Once it was strapped down Jason went to say goodbye. "Well, I guess this is it." He looked at Chloe, Pete, Melissa, and the Kent's. "See yah later." And with that, Jason headed inside the plane without saying another word. Once inside he strapped himself into one of the seats in the back and waited for Clark.

Clark's goodbye was much more emotional. "Don't worry mom, dad, I'll be back soon." He quickly headed to Pete and Chloe. "I'll miss you both so much."

Pete rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Do me a favor while your up there? Take care of Jubilee for me."

"And take care of Bobby. I don't want something bad to happen to him."

"Please watch over John, will you?" Melissa squeaked in.

"And watch out for that Jason guy!" his father told him. "I don't trust him one bit!"

Clark of course rolled his eyes. "I will." He turned around and headed into the plane. Once inside he took the seat next to Jason and strapped himself in.

The next thing they all felt were the Blackbird's booster engines lifting the jet off the ground. Cyclops flipped a switch which retracted the landing gear. Once they had enough altitude he hit another which ignited the main engines. Before they knew it, both Smallvillians were off to Westchester, New York, and another amazing adventure.

The End.

(For now!!!)
