What is love?
It's something I thought I couldn't understand
You lose so much and receive so little
It's unpredictable and can't be planned
It rips out your heart
Crushes your spirit
Taints your dreams
Makes life worse than it seems
It makes a sunny day seem cloudy
But makes a cloudy day seem sunny
It turns friend against friend
And confuses you to no end
Your mind revolves around
Your significant other
Can't help but dream
You will always be together
You put them first
And ignore your own needs
You give up all you have
This is the lover's creed
They shout at you
Call you names
Say everything is going wrong
And you are the one to blame
They don't appreciate
Your generosity
So suspicious
So full of animosity
Then they suddenly become sweet
Cuddling, bringing you presents
Practically kissing your feet
Saying how much they love you
Helping you through life
Chasing away every problem
And every strife
Relationships change
Far too fast
One minute you're fighting
The next- you're hoping it'll last
So much confusion
And so much suffering
I gladly endure it all
If I could stare into your eyes each morning
Feeling your lips brush mine
I quickly lose all track of time
No sacrifice is too great
As long as I can be with you
I'll suffer for an eternity
